What an excellent performance by the team. Some of the sheer audacity of the passing was brilliant - at one point early on one of our players played an absolutely outrageous, 30-yard lofted ball back to Hennessey with pinpoint accuracy, Hennessey chesting it down and playing out! Ampadu in particular had a great game.
I do feel we should be cautious, I feel some of our goals may not have gone in against the Danes, in fact Schmeichel probably would only have failed to save Bale's effort. We are very open, I honestly don't know what to make of it, I believe being tough to beat is the prerequisite for a successful team at this level, but perhaps this bunch of lads is talented enough to buck that orthodoxy.
Hard to say at this point how much is down to Giggs, the players, the opposition etc. Tonight's game a bit reminiscent of the China game. ROI were weakened and they recently lost 5-1 to Denmark. Giggs is clearly enjoying a decent start, but you can't fully judge his ability to, for example, tactically beat a superior side, or change things from a position of being behind, based on what we've seen so far. The defence needs to communicate more, there are things to work on, but if Giggs can keep this group happy and together we have a good future.

To the person in front of me that I fell on during the 3-0 celebrations, I apologise.
I did get a nice big gash on my leg for my troubles though.

I agree with some of your points. Some parts of that game (before the first goal and after our final goal), we did concede possession a few times and I remember thinking that the Danes would have punished us for that. But I did put it down to inexperience, youth and towards the end, fatigue. Giggs admitted himself that there were mistakes and I'm sure he'll work on them.
In the grand scheme of things, these mistakes were very minor and only worth mentioning in the context of preparations for the next game. Cannot fault them at all for tonight's display. They exceeded my expectations and more. The performance tonight has given me faith that a victory over the Danes is achievable.

Ok fair comment but I took exception to being called an 'armchair' I've been there from the bad times Hey, my comment was aimed at everyone. Just a shame for the thread to descend into an argument when we've just enjoyed one of the greatest nights in Welsh football 😆 Yes i apologise

The numbers on the back of Bales and Laawrences shirts look exactly the same.
I was on about bale scoring a hattrick all game because I thought he scored the first. What a wally
Im being quite petty, what a performance!

Just getting around to processing that game. What an exciting time to be a Welsh fan and to kick off the Giggs era with a bang.
A very poor team in truth but we put them to the sword, Ampadu looked absolutely class, said it before but what a player we’ve got there and to cap him, not to mention Brooks and Smith as well.
Bale is a different breed, defence looked solid for the most part and we overran their non existent midfield.
Walking round cardiff trying to walk this hangover off and seeing lots of deflated Irish fans heading towards the station is making it a lot easier.
Now to prepare myself for the 3am start for the taxi to Manchester for Denmark!

Fantastic result last night!
Thought it highlighted what we're capable of when given the chance to show it.
Connor Roberts was everything Gunter isn't and Ampadu, fucking hell, what a player we have.
Still too much fannying around at the back but I thought Giggs recognised that in his post match interview.
Although Ireland were poor, we made them be poor with our movement and tempo. Any team would struggle with it.
The fluidity of the front three reminded me of the Liverpool front line.
Team for Sunday will be interesting. Can't really drop anyone. Safe to say that Ampadu and Bale will play given they were taken off early though.
Amazing that Ampadu was withdrawn first!

One idiot. Stop looking for some salty tears from Irish fans, this nonsense happened after the match last year too. 95% of both sets of fans get on well with eachother, you get twats in every fan group. We were awful and I expected to lose by at least 2 but the lack of fight from us was really disappointing. Wales can only play what's in front of them and you did a great job, played some lovely stuff, job done. Best of luck against the Danes and see you in October.

I've already posted with my positives from last night but I thought I'd mention the one main negative for me, and that was the defence.
I thought we looked a bit suspect last night, especially with Irelands' long ball game plan. I think Ashley missed quite a lot of 50-50 headers.
The transition from having played exclusively with 5 to 4 at the back is going to be difficult I suppose, and I'm not sure how comfortable Ashley in particular was with 4 at the back. Against a better attacking team we'd have probably conceded.
Mepham was a beast though, he must be the tallest CB back we've had for quite a few years? Makes a change from having a defence of short asses! (Joke btw)
Well that's off my chest, hope there's no backlash!

Yeah, I was expecting more of a physical approach from yourselves. I actually thought you played better football than last time round, with a bit more effort at a passing game. Christie had a few bursts forward, and some of the inter play with Coleman and other players down the right was quite nice. Robinson missed a good chance in the first half when his shot fizzed over the bar. It may have been down to our slight suspect defence in playing 4 instead of 5 at the back, but I thought you looked more dangerous going forward than in the previous encounter.

Hugely disappointing display last night, absolutely destroyed by a very good Welsh side.
However the calls for MON to go are misjudged, given the paucity of our panel it’s hard to imagine any manager reinvigorating a team and panel in decline.
Fans should remember that despite having only a marginally better panel for the World Cup qualifiers we were the only 4th ranked team in the European groups to progress to the playoffs - a huge achievement in itself.
Given the cyclical nature of football particularly for small countries , something Welsh fans must be aware of , we can only hope that some talent will emerge in the relatively short term to enable us to add to our total of qualifications for 3 European championships & 3 World Cups.
Best of luck to Wales v Denmark.

Great result last night, and a wonderful team performance for 70 minutes. Being ultra critical, we should have won by more, took foot off the gas and a bit sloppy in the latter stages when the best teams continue to be ruthless, against a very poor and limited ROI.
Lots to be excited about moving forward, I give praise to Giggs for his team choice and more attacking ethos, but some going over the top already. These young players have been developed over time with Wales (and their clubs), and perhaps Giggs is now reaping the benefits of others hard work. Still, can't stand him as an individual but credit where credit's due, ardderchog.

You're more generous than me! I thought we were really poor with very few bright sparks. I thought Robinson played well myself in awful circumstances. Coleman is far and away our best player so it's no surprise for good moments to come from him. The problem as I see it is a real lack of tempo and guile, if we're gonna play the hoofball shite then you have to have high energy and don't give the opposition time on the ball. Didn't happen. Players looked like the wanted off the pitch pretty sharpish. Ward unfortunately just isn't to standard, he gave us a good couple of years but is being badly exposed now through MON asking him to do something he just can't do.

Totally agree with this, there are probably 3 things I will judge Giggs on Results (good start) Results without Bale What he does if Man Utd come calling halfway through a campaign

Many Irish fans last year saying he was as vital for Ireland as Bale is to Wales. Well they were both back last night so I will go with what I saw with my own eyes

Wow! What a performance! Incredible stuff from start to, to finish. Most enjoyable Welsh game since Toulouse against Russia (Belgium was best night, but Russia we basically took the piss). Thought we played some really intelligent stuff, the movement off the ball was terrific. Having two players deep in the oppositions half when they took corners was great, meant they couldn't allow too many players to get in the box. This was tactically spot on for this game, a big test on Sunday now against a very good Denmark side. But i am really excited about our future - even the bench would have beaten the Irish to be honest. Ampadu will be a player of the highest caliber, and Brooks and Roberts were terrific yesterday. The fact we know have players around Rambo, Bale & Allen who can also play good football will bring the best of out them too, also takes away the reliance upon them somewhat (you will always miss world class players, so would Real Madrid). Must mention Mepham also who really shone in defence.
