They’re refunding tournament tickets? Someone PM the details of who to contact. I can’t make that one either. Unlike you to miss a home game Bit of a daft decision to buy a tournament ticket in the Canton then?! It’s two days off work on top of Denmark away. Couldn’t plausibly do both. Have another go.

Years ago the Famous Three Kings in Fulham used to show the Wales games. I'm sure that you can watch them at London Welsh as well. F3K tends to be the designated Welsh pub for football and rugby. Last time I went to the Welsh Centre, they didn't have Sky Sports but I'm talking a couple of years ago. You can get a pint of Wrexham Lager at the Welsh Centre mind you. I’m in the East End so that’s a journey and a half. I did Fulham and Chelsea on the District line and was stir crazy by the end. Twenty odd stops. I work in Victoria so after work might be ok. Thanks.

I never bothered with the F3K for the 6 nations as the one time I did go, the queue outside was massive so I just ended up watching it in a nearby pub anyway. I wouldn't know how busy it gets for the football.

Some of the teams above look exciting, but in my opinion there's too much trying to fit all our best players into the team, rather than getting the most cohesive team. Most seem to be shifting Bale into the furthest forward, central position to make room for our emerging talents in wide forward positions. For me, Sam Vokes has to play because we can't ask out best player by a county mile to play in a position where he will be less effective. We should go with a front three of: Bale - Vokes - and whoever's in best form from Lawrence, Wilson, Woodburn and Brooks If I’m an Irish centre half who would give me sleepless nights ? Vokes is brilliant if we dominate , get round the back and get decent crosses in... but international football is rarely like that ! With the pace and options ( albeit inexperience) with Lawtence Wilson Brooke’s Woodburn playing Bale up against them would worry MON and Keane. Can you imagine him (Bale)running the channels or dropping deep pulling the CB with him and Ramsey,Lawrence etc running in space behind ! Bale is a better finisher too! I’m a Vokes fan but against the Irish it makes them too comfortable !

Can we get the home and away theme tune sung at our games? I’ve heard Newcastle fans singing it before and it’s so good as a football song

Hennessey Gunter Williams/Mepham Chester Davies Ampadu Allen Brooks Ramsey Lawrence Bale This, but with Mepham as the standout CB ahead of Williams. I would be tempted to start Ledley if he continues to start for Derby and Ampadu doesn't get any minutes. Naturally, you'd bring Ampadu on when Ledley tires. Wilson, Vokes and Woodburn could all add something spicy off the bench too. Agree that we have a very exciting array of talent to choose from. Nonetheless, it feels that Andy King is a little underrated in most of the squads on this thread. He played full 90 minutes in all three matches this year - so surely Ryan rates him...

If we got it right a front 4 of Bale & Ramsey with two of Lawrence/Brooks/Wilson/Woodburn could be quite fluid and interchangeable

I'd like to see our team roughly consist of the following
Hennessey;
Gunter, Ashley, Ampadu, Ben Davies;
Allen, Ramsey, King (Jonny Williams as sub), Brooks;
Robson-Kanu OR Vokes (Woodburn on as sub), Bale
Based on recent performances, I'd be worried about offering a starting position to Wilson, Lawrence and Ledley. And based on Andy King's remarkably improved pass rate, I'd give him a spot in the starting line-up at this point in time. Vokes and Kanu have been playing relatively well of late, Vokes in particular, delivered a stunning away goal against Aberdeen, and maybe having two forwards may give one of them some space if the Irish try to close the other down. I'd want to keep a mix of the new and the old guard and a mix of premiership and proven, reliable Championship players to liven things up a bit. Ampadu would get a starting place (my rule of thumb is that, if he's deemed good enough for his Premier League first team then he should be good enough for us).

My prediction: Get ready for an Irish meltdown, lads. We have been in steady decline since Euro 2016, culminating in the complete sh!tshow against Denmark in the playoff. It's patently obvious Ireland have no plan going out on to the pitch, the players are winging it. The football on display is septic to watch. That said, Long ball (direct) is nothing to be ashamed of, assuming it's done right. If the midfield are not getting forward to support the attack for the 2nd balls, then you're pissing in the wind.
For Ireland, O'Neill has never played long ball how it should be executed. It's not even hit and hope. It's literally hoofing the ball...back to the opposition while playing a physical game.
My suspicion is that O'Neill's lack of instruction (or any plan at all) is creating a growing frustration with the players and it won't take much for the whole deck of cards to fall. Luckily for you guys, I think the timing is perfect to capitalise on what looks like the inevitable and ever approaching end to O'Neill's era.

If Ampadu starts, for me, it HAS to be in holding midfield. That's where he has MOSTLY played for Chelsea (certainly can't remember him starting a competitive game at CB).

You'd think we'd make a much better go of it than our previous two attempts. It looks like Giggs will be setting up to go for a more attacking approach than Coleman's defensive style which blatantly didn't work against a team that sets up like you do. But after watching us play twice O'Neill knows how to set up defensively and will play a rough style of play and pick players to suit that which may work against our more lightweight team, especially the youngsters.
Having said the young ones coming through are very exciting, Brooks, Ampadu, Woodburn and Wilson adding to the already decent players in Bale, Ramsey and Allen may be enough to unlock your defence.
It'll be interesting though, I expect us to come at you from the off but I think it'll be another slug fest.

It will be really cagey with only a goal in it, either way. Please don't take this the wrong way, but it seems to me that O'Neil is overachieving when you consider the quality at his disposal so I don't get the resentment towards him? The football is poor but he can only work with what he's got. You came 2nd in a really tough group last time out when, in my opinion, you only had the fourth best squad.

Oneil refuses to even try to do so even against the poorer sides dont anyone try to tell me georgias squad is any better than ours yet they played us off the park twice and really deserved to take more than 1 point from us. When you take more points away from home than at home their is somethings wrong imo and the biggest issue comes from management I too predict the wheels to cone off for us should oneil continue to play they way he has done he sjould trust the players more thsn he does maybe then him and alot of opposition fans will see we have players capable of playing decent football (not directly targeted at you btw)

For me, you win your home matches and grab what you can away from home. Perhaps fans are putting excessive pressure on the players? I guess O’Neill isn’t a long term solution.

Looking at our ticket sales for this, it looks to me that very little has changed since 30 July when going on General Sale.
Around about 4k maybe 5k still left (not counting hospitality and the ROI quota) - which is disappointing, being the first home match for almost a year!
I don't own a TV - but is the Beeb / ITV promoting this as a Clash of the Titans / Pay Back Time thing yet?

I thought they were really good technicians but they just weren't good enough at both ends of the pitch, hence their position in the world rankings. You obviously know far more than I do about your players, but I thought their qualities were more as grafters rather than technical, creative players. As far as I'm aware, your main creative players over the last few years have been Wes Hoolahan and McGeady who are both past their best and never been anywhere near top class. Other than that you have out and out grafters in the like of Whelan and McClean. Who are your other creative, technical players which would allow you to change your game? Are there young players I'm not thinking of?

We have no big name players but the likes of brady, hendrick, rice, hoorihan, browne etc are all well capable of getting the ball down and playing with it. Callum Robinson from Preston has declared for us too and is another who likes to play the ball to feet. The vadt majority of players in our squad dont actually suit playing a long ball game and ive always been told in football that you play to your strengths so would like to see oneil do this so that means playing less long ball

Still, that leaves us incredibly weak in midfield, which is why you need a Ledley or Ampadu there.

Going back through the years, King would get a starting slot in an array of Welsh sides of the past, but Allen and Ramsey occupy the spaces that he could cover. We need a Ledley or Ampadu in there to do the ugly work.

Have to say from an Irish perspective we're not in good shape and there's still a fallout between the supporters and O'Neill from the Denmark hammering. I expect our lads to scrap and run themselves into the ground for the country as usual but I would probably take a draw (not that we're much better at home ) against a Wales side with Bale who can hurt you at any time. I don't see us not finishing bottom in his nations league mini group but we'll go down fighting hopefully.

Talking of tackles, good to see Seamus Coleman back playing well, hopefully doesnt play well against us of course. Hopefully Wales will be wise to the dark arts this time around and show what we can do as an attacking side. Shame ticket sales are so poor, the atmosphere in the last game was incredible.

He's not a 'destroyer' and he doesn't do enough further forward either. We need a more disruptive midfielder to complement allen and rambo

I'm not sure that I would give Mepham a starting position at this point in time and I am actually ambivalent about Hal, but he did get onto the score sheet for 2/3 of his last games. It's still an "either", "or" situation for me. I wouldn't be averse to him not starting - with Brooks to the left of Bale and Vokes in front (or, even take one out from the back, and maybe add Declan to midfield). Prior to Lawrence's goal against Reading in particular, he and Ledley conceded possession several times which would have given me cause for concern. We cannot afford to concede against ROI. Hence why I'm actually apprehensive about both players at this stage.

I am not a big stats man ... but from what I remember of the last 6 or 7 international, both King and Lawrence played very well. The only exception was perhaps the ROI match, where no one stood out for us.
I'm not saying that they should start - just that they should be in the running ...
