Could be a cracking weekend for Welsh sport. Not often we can say that. Just need U21s to get a result and for Snegi to smash Caerphilly today .

Absolutely delighted with both results - football and rugby. Knackered now as didn't get any sleep due to being too excited about the football side's performance and the coming rugby match

Forgot to set my alarm this morning so missed the game.
Listened to the second game on the radio and I was torn between wanting the inglish to lose and wanting them to win just so they'd have a week of knowing we would rip them apart before we eventually did.
One thing that has really annoyed me is that TalkSHITE has the sole rights to the RWC. I don't understand why the rights for the home nations are not broken up and sold individually. At least then we'd be able to listen to Wales without having to listen to the inglish talk about ingurlund throughout (same for the Jocks). Although you'd think BBC Wales had the rights as they kept mentioning the game instead of talking about the sodding footie during the build up last night.
Within a few minutes of the game ending and inglurlund being kicked out of the RWC they played their first rugby related advert. Instead of being ingurlund this and ingurlund that to the tune of Jerusalem or something about a chariot it was a generic faux Brittania advert from Asda.
No mention of any teams apart from something about them being British. This tells you they had two sets of adverts pre recorded, the pro inglish one and the generic faux Brittania one.
So now we are left with the problem that the companies (I'm sure this applies to ITV to) with the rights to the games don't really care about the RWC anymore but in order to try and placate those filthy Celts they will now drum up the whole British bollocks in order to bask in their reflective glory.
---
Just to extend this rant a little more. Not content with just saying we are through the semis the bloody inglish have to say that "Wales are through to the semis for only the 2nd time" or "for the first time in 24 years".
Deflecting their own dysmal performance by patronising us.

We will beat the Irish by 6-10 points. Get your money on that. done a double with the Swiss game, Wales 100/30 for Swiss game. I'm going 8-12 Welsh win. Bookies have Ireland narrow favourites. Well Bet365 do. i meant 8-12pts margin of victory lol. Anyway had anice little double up the Swiss and Ireland games this weekend, nice to win betting on Wales for a change.

If you ask a Welsh farmer howmany workers he has don't be suprised when he says two. A baratone and a tenor! ;D That castle looks like Castell Coch to me, a Victorian folly!

Really hope our rugby boys can win the QF. From there, who knows? It would show everyone in Wales and the wider world just how talented a nation we are and what we can actually achieve for a nation of our size. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha wider world?? Like anybody outside NZ, Aus, South Africa, UK and France gives a flying fudgecake about this competition! Small minded and obviously not proper welsh.

That's not them having a go at us for having a shit record in the World Cup by comparison with England, that's them praising a rare achievement for us.

No it's most definitely them being patronising.
They forget that in the grand scheme of things they've only been good at rugby for about 20 years.

What I really like about this board is that people who share a common interest (Welsh footie) can talk about a variety of topics. 90% of the time, it'll revolve around the international side - but there have also been interesting discussions on, amongst other things, Welsh nationalism, the farce of there being no Welsh cricket side, boxing, video games...and even eggball. My advice would always be, if you see a thread title that doesn't appeal to you, don't read it. why not just have an "any other business" forum alongside the Footie forum?

Small minded and obviously not proper welsh. Sorry, but the small minded one is you mate - are you calling me "not proper welsh(sic)" because I don't like rugby? That is the kind of narrow minded, patronising, cliched comment I'd expect on imbecilic messageboards like 606. I don't need to give you my Welsh (yes, look, there's a capital W) credentials, but not liking rugby doesn't make me less Welsh you patronising cock.

By all means dont like it, but then dont expect to wander into a thread where people are discussing it, throw your weight around then get your panties in a twist because people call you out on your vile attitude and you cant take it. You dont like rugby? Fine, keep your attitude to yourself and fuck off out of this thread.

What's so vile about not liking rugby and asking what it's doing in a Welsh Footie Forum? Where is my weight throwing? I was asking a pertinent question, of which I'm yet to get an answer.
I'm not the cock who has stated I musn't be Welsh because I have the temerity not to like rugby - you don't think that sort of attitude stinks then?
That kind of narrow minded cliched attitude would be slated on here had it have been written in an English newspaper by Henry Winter or his ilk.
"fuck off out of this thread"?? Charming! No wonder this board only has a handful of regular visitors if that's the kind of response one gets for daring to challenge an opinion.

Unless you are a complete pedant what is the point in questioning it?! Its quite clearly marked as being a rugby thread, so the easiest thing to do, surely, is to ignore it and post elsewhere. Its not rocket science. Its a sport in which on occasion Wales do very well at so there should be no reason needed for people to want to start a thread to show some pride in a team that is currently the envy of the world and flying the Welsh flag. As I said before, if you dont like it then fine. But there really is no need to go questioning why its there

OK, fair enough, it's your board. <-- EDITED as this was to trendy (storm posted in the meantime)
But it seems strange to me.
Couple that with attitudes like baresi's ( i.e. you don't like rugby your not proper Welsh ) going unchallenged, and storm's "welcoming" interjection, it doesn't come across as a great place to have football banter!

Storm, nobody's "going on" - I asked a question - the rest is responding to posts made to/at me ...
It's not pedantry to ask why rugby was being discussed in a football thread - I'm sure if you asked the majority of us in Bulgaria this week what they thought of Saturday's game you would get a very blank response ... anyway, that's enough from me - the cock, Baresi's response and your "fuck off" has been enough to show me It's not the place to be, if I'm honest

a team that is currently the envy of the world ..............
Well done to the rugby team and everything and I hope they win the thing, but that's a truly ridiculous comment RD. So many people really don't seem to get just what a minority sport rugby is in global terms- it's only taken serioulsly in a tiny handful of countries. Three of those countries are still in the tournament- NZ, France and Australia, so they don't envy us and the saffers beat us in the first round and were unlucky that Ireland won against the Aussies (leading to a QF against a fellow SH giant). So basically that leaves Ireland, midlle class England and a handful of Jocks, Italians and Pacific Islanders who envy our rugby team. Hardly the world, is it?

So basically that leaves Ireland, midlle class England and a handful of Jocks, Italians and Pacific Islanders who envy our rugby team. Hardly the world, is it? Every team wants to be as fit as us and have our attitude, so yes we are the envy of the world. No other side in the competition can run as long as we can- we only had to make 2 subs against Ireland! So when the dust has settled after this world cup every team out there will be looking at the methods Wales employed to get our team in the physical and mental shape that we are in. South Africa only beat us because we beat ourselves with that fluffed drop goal at the end of the game- if we played tomorrow its hard to look past a Wales win given how toothless SA looked against a poor Australia. "Why cant we be more like Wales?" is a popular question in the rugby world right now. www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2011/oct/09/england-france-rugby-world-cup-2011Just one example Also: www.walesonline.co.uk/rugbynation/rugby-news/2011/10/08/wales-22-10-ireland-what-the-world-s-press-are-saying-91466-29562463/The French and Australian comments in particular.

You may find it hard to understand, others may totally understand why I have no interest in rugby.
However, my reply was in answer to your "not being "proper welsh", which I see you're still not refuting, so I'll make it easy for you:
Do you stand by your comment that I'm "not proper welsh"?

erm, no ... someone has gone onto a rugby thread on a football board to ask why on earth there's a rugby thread on a football board.
Anyway, the pointless thing is continuing this.
I'm only posting because the wi-fi at the airport's free and I'm bored.
