Nice little 'up yours' to them He's still a cunt though. He's trying to be politically correct to make people think he isn't nasty, in the hope that empty gestures will distract people from the fact he's destroying public services and watering down employment rights whilst giving corporations tax cuts. It's the same with gay marriage, appointing a token Muslim woman to the Cabinet, and having a fat northerner (Eric Pickles) along for the ride too. Why not fly the Welsh flag? It costs him nothing and might just win him a point in the polls here in Wales. It won't work with most though, intelligent people can smell bullshit coming a mile off. It makes me hate him all the more. Worst PM we've ever had, Comrade Brown and Reverend Lancecorporal Blair don't even come close to Teflon Dave.

Surprisingly, it's neutral in tone. Almost fell off my chair at that. Even more surprising, there are some supportive comments from the English! Though go to 'Worst rated' to find this one: Just so long as it flies lower than both the Union flag and St.Georges flag. - Toady the Toad, London England, 13/10/2011 4:37

Whether you like Rugby Union or not, there is no doubt that if Wales did win the RWC then the confidence that would give our footballers would be massive!!!
It would prove that nothing is unachievable with a little belief!

How exactly will it give anybody bar the Wesh rugby team any confidence? I didn't see Bafana Bafana doing any better after the Boks won ... I don't recall England's footballers winning the World Cup after their rugby counterparts succeeded. Please, if you like rugby, fine, but don't come out of this hyperbolic nonsense

Firstly pal, i don't like rugby so your'e first part is totally far out!!! Secondly squire, if you don't think that success in rugby with a SMALL nation like ours won't give a small nation like ours confidence in other sports then you are miles out!!
We have always believed that Wales WON'T qualify for the football WC because of bad luck blah blah blah and i think even the players believed that - with the rugby team winning the RWC even the most sceptical of us would think hang on if the rugby team can win it then why can't we actually qualify for one.
And lastly, comparing the SA football team with their rugby team is different because Bafana Bafana DO qualify anyway for WC's and that was AFTER the Boks WON the Rugby World Cup and the least said of the England football team the better!!!

Is it just me or is anyone else disgusted by the craving of all the pathetic unionists in Wales to have a pat on the back by our colonialist masters?
I expect the bandwagoning by the Saes, but not the gutless begging to get our flag flown in a foreign country.

I expect the bandwagoning by the Saes, but not the gutless begging to get our flag flown in a foreign country. It is a bit galling. Almost as bad are these awful editorials popping up all over the place, 'We're all Welsh now' 'Get behind our british brothers' etc. PUKE!

You people will complain about it either way. If the flag had not been raised you would have been saying our politicians lacked the balls to petition the PM to fly it. Now that they have, it's 'pathetic' and 'colonialist'.
Can't win with some people.

I wouldn't have complained - I think it's populist bollocks by 10 Downing Street to be honest - same as when the flew the St George's Cross for the England football team.
No need - stick to politics and stop trying to win over the Sun and Star readers with populist, empty gestures.

But, I do concede that there would have been some people getting all worked up in either eventuality.

By raising the welsh flag, Cameron is saying: "Wales is ruled by the English parliament, so here's a little sop to those welsh voters out there." Not much for us to get excited about.
Whatever, I'm totally stoked about the match on sat, can't wait.

Ill be honest- Im glad he has done it because it will piss off the territorial white van man who will be appalled that the welsh flag is flying over the English prime ministers house.
And so what if they support Wales, its only because their own team wasnt good enough- thats fine by me ;D

A hollow gesture by a bellend of a man who is giving Wales the deepest cuts out of all four countries. I don't care if the English support us, it means nothing to me. What pisses me of though is the patronising tone in which the English press acts like our whole existance revolves around having to impress those fartknockers.

A hollow gesture by a bellend of a man who is giving Wales the deepest cuts out of all four countries. Thats a good point. I daresay he is hoping that Wales go all the way if only to lighten the mood so we momentarily forget the fact that unemployment is through the roof and spending on services has hit an all time low.

As long as they are representing Wales, I don't care what sport it is. I will be watching and supporting them no matter what. in general i agree..but tomorrow my local has arranged a celebration disco straight after the match so theres a big part of me now that wants france to win just so it deflates everyone and make the disco seem pointless is that wrong?

Our history of regularly failing to make the quarter finals you mean? It is true that there are a lot of worthless games in the RWC but trust me- beating Samoa was a good result, they would have turned over a few NH sides the day they played us. In fact England would not have got out of our group so to dominate SA, beat Samoa and then Ireland (who also would have beaten most sides last Saturday) is something we can take heart from, even if its not a spectacular set of results. I dont know, it depresses me how there are Welsh people who actually hate rugby so much that they have no interest in us actually winning something in a team sport or even want us to lose. Is it too much too ask that we all lighten up a bit and see it as an opportunity to celebrate our heritage? I wonder if we are the diametric opposite of the English- they are arrogant even when their sporting teams are shite, we are shite 90% of the time and then when we are on the cusp of greatness all people can do is have a moan and make excuses for it.

Considering we've only beaten Ireland and a couple of tiny Pacific Islands, the hype surrounding this Welsh team is truly ridiculous.
