Denmark all sorted but I just started looking at Dublin . Flights are great.... Hotels are ridiculous. I just can't motivate myself to go to this rip of theme park with a dogshit stadium.

Against the trend I am looking forwards to going to Ireland for the first time. Most Irish people I know are characters and Dublin will be great for (expensive) drinking.

How about staying over on Angelsey and taking the ferry? For those in the Cardiff area, FLYBE now run the discounted flight and its still (today) only £40 return, out 4pm Monday and back Wednesday (either 9am or 5.30pm)

We're spending 2 nights in Dublin this time around as we didn't get the chance to do a lot in the city last time. Got ourselves a private room in a Temple Bar hostel.

Them lot are playing France tonight at the Stade de France - ko is at 8pm. They have just struggled to a 2-2 draw v Celtic last week. The Oirish are taking the grand total of 700 over to Paris ...
EDIT - a fairly weak/experimental French side against a full Irish (but for a young goalie) ...
Its live on RTE 2 - but you will need a VPN with Irish ip address www.rte.ie/player/gb/live/10/
ESPN on TSN - HD HEREACE PLAYER here
Otherwise, try one of the links here
EDIT - HALF TIME REPORT
France B 2 - ROI 0 Ball possession 83%-17%...
ROI had their first attempt on goal in the 45th minute ...

My apologies, if there is a more comprehensive thread for this ... Yesterday's FSF meeting with FAW suggests that more than 3000 fans indicated interest in this trip! And ... that the FAW are looking to be making new deals with the FAI... Ticket allocation to be finalised and criteria info released in late July early August

Wasn't planning to do this one but now considering flying over for the night. Initial plan is to fly out from London on the lunchtime of the game then head back to the ferry port afterwards and get the 2.15 sailing back to Holyhead, train down to London then straight into work. Anyone on here done this trip without accommodation before? Any thoughts?

You could book the first flight out of Dublin back to London therefore sleeping at the airport?

My preference would be to avoid it if possible, and thought I may be more likely to sleep on the ferry and with a long train journey. Will give it some more thought though.

I did it last time ...no where to get your head down..no facilities after midnight ...longest 6 hours of my life !!

I have done 2.15 ferry before after race meeting and found it quite easier to find a long seat to get some kip was fine as this sailing mainly truckers so much less foot passengers than other crossings

Just had another look at accommodation and flights. Still extremely cheap, with Ryan Air flight out of Bristol for £35 return (Flybe from Cardiff is £100 rtn) and hostels still readily available for €18 ...
The FAW are on a wind-up if they genuinely believe that there are 3500 wanting to go over.
Honestly, I will be impressed if 2k make the trip. Closer to 1500, I'd say ;-(

We booked Aer Lingus from Bristol £170 return would have preferred Cardiff but its always dear from there , I wouldn't touch Ryanair with a bargepole at the mo due to all these strikes etc .

Any recommendations for food? Will be arriving at 12:00 so looking to get some grub before on the ale for the day. I'm taking loads of Welsh Cakes and laverbread over with me - don't trust the foreign food ... unless, of course, its a mighty victory, and then you will probably find me and @garywilliams at the local Georgian restaurant - dancing on the tables ;-) I second that second try for win

Few of my mates are heading to Belfast and catching the train down on the day. If anyone of you fancy that then let me know and I'll meet up to show you around and have a drink. It's far cheaper up here than it is in Dublin.

Looks like the 0855 match day is sold out. Yes. I see that the return leg on the Wednesday at 14:50 is still available, though. You can then use the FLYBE flight from Anglesey to CARDIFF - still only a tenner Wednesday at 17:30.
Flybe CWL to Anglesey out on Monday/Tuesday still only £29
A whole lot cheaper and better staying in Wales instead of Dublin ;-)
That said, the Ryan Air flight back to Bristol on Wednesday early morning at 06:35 is still only £15

I actually had a look into that as it'd probably be cheaper than getting a return train from Wrexham to Cardiff lol. Times just aren't great though sadly, would have been a nice change from the 3 and a half hour train down.

Ryanair from BHX still only £30 return out Tues 16 back wed 17 choice of flight times. Both Bristol and BHX flight being so ridiculously cheap indicate to me that there is no way whatsoever that 3500 intend to travel. More like 1500 - if that! From my count there are only 2 Welsh Apostles in Dublin and Belfast - all the others would have needed to book flights/ferries ...

So it would seem which is fine because at least them it will be regular fans and not those that only turn up for the big games. Would have hoped for 1k to go myself but Thursday night it would be wishful thinking. Not sure why........
Flybe from Dub - CWL leaving 16.10 on the 6th return 7am on the 7th is £113.................. head for late nite bar, taxi at 4am and get flight.
Even if not drinkinging because of work then lose 1/2 day assumming you could get through Friday.
I agree that would be the way to go. Just doesn't appear to be much interest in the nation's league at the moment. Personally looking forward to it myself. Really enjoyed Cardiff the last time, people were friendly and a great atmosphere between both sets of supporters
