Dad went watching Rugby in Ireland on more than one occasion and I can't imagine him paying silly money for a pint of bitter. I'm very much my father's son in that respect. Would you be able to recommend one interesting thing to see in Dublin? My hobbies are football, boxing, music and I'm fond of computer games too. Aside from drinking, there'll be an Ireland / Dublin fridge magnet for my mum to acquire. All I take is photos and memories. Both O'Mahoney and Tony from my local pub are Irish. Characters... I like Dublin. Always seems a good atmosphere there. Pubs everywhere. If it's your first time there then I would definitely have a look at Temple bar. As stated above there's some good pubs down there and can be a great laugh. But yes very expensive Always liked the Arlington hotel (a bit touristy) and the Celt on Talbot street but there are great pubs all over the city. (Irish: what's the pub on the edge of Temple Bar just over the bridge from O Connell St?) As for something to do - Kilmainham Gaol is very interesting, the GPO as mentioned above, the Guinness brewery and of course Molly Malone statue. Didn't know about the rock museum like the sound of that. Edit: The name of that pub just came to me - Fitzgerald's The Hairy lemon was a good pub when I lived in Dublin back in 97 .

Haha forgot about that place. Went there on my first trip to Dublin, probably 98. Don't think I've been back there since or if it's even still there. Can't even remember where it was now.

Thanks for all the advice. It’ll be as expensive as Paris was!

Is there any way of getting tickets to this game now? Just managed to get a few days off at short notice?

Yeah I’m a member, thanks for that will email them now. Cheers Pretty sure the FAW team will be able to sort you out.
In case they don't, there are a zillion tickets left on the FAI website. I'd probably go for the tickets in BLK527 at €50, but if you prefer to be right next to the Away end, there are loads of tickets in BLK 501 for €70.
I would be amazed if you wont be able to pick up a freebie if you arrive a day ahead and keep your ear to the ground.

Anyone else had the e-mail from the FAW Ireland v Wales Travel information required.
At least it did not end up in the junk e-mails like my Denmark Travel information details did.

Had it this afternoon. Problem cos not booked hotel in Dublin and flight home is day after match (a few post match beers and a bus to airport in middle of night for 6-30am flight is the plan) so am staying in the "No Hotel" in Dublin

Airbnb room here! Dublin’s going to be expensive as it is so I’m scrimping on my accommodation.

I think all mine asked was departing and arriving airport and also where I was staying. No flight numbers needed etc. I'm using Airbnb for a room.

We're staying on Temple Bar for 40 EUR for 2 nights. Probably won't drink there that often but good price for the location.

Having grown up near Holyhead, I've lost count of how many times I've been to Dublin. Used to go there pretty regular on daytrips and whatnot. But while we always promise ourselves that we won't end up in Temple Bar, it almost always ends up that way.

ROI named their squad today as well. No Declan Rice - so that saga carries on ... Missing out through injury are captain Seamus Coleman (foot), Jonathan Walters (Achilles), Stephen Ward (knee) and Robbie Brady (Burnley).
Recalled are Shane Long (Southampton), Harry Arter (Cardiff City) and James McClean (Stoke)

No Declan Rice - so that saga carries on ... The saga's come to an end it seems. According to Sky Sports, he's declared for England. Shame for Ireland but good for us in the short term, I do rate him.

I do wish that the FAW would learn from the ROI in calling up a 32-man squad, before trimming it down to 23 (at precisely midnight, before the match).
Would have loved seeing Gwion in that squad and surely Lee and maybe even Ryan deserve a look in, if only for the first 3 days of training?

I have a room near O’Connell Street. I’d welcome knowing where we all congregate.

I have a room near O’Connell Street. I’d welcome knowing where we all congregate. Last year, the main Gol event was at The Hangar, not far from Temple bar and the Molly Malone statute. From the Liffey river end of O’Connell Street, its about 6-7 minutes walk.
Not my favourite venue, but there was at least 1000 people in there last time ;-)

All the pubs will be good and plenty on O'Connell St if you walk to the river bridge towards Temple Bar , 1 or 2 bars are beside the river on both sides . We swerved the Hangar last time as it was packed and could not get anywhere near the bar !

The Arlington always has a fair crowd in it- beside the river to the right before you cross the O Connell st. bridge. Huge pub I've lost days going in there. (Not to mention €€€!!)
Pub crawl will be the order of the day this time I think though.

The Bachelor has a 4 digit code lock on the toilet doors too I seem to remember !! We walked to stadium last time and about 3 or 4 pubs on the route if anyone fancies that .

Can't place it - but that's not to say I haven't been in there though, that Guinness is strong stuff!! It's an ideal city for a crawl fairplay. Actually really looking forward to this one now.
