Wow this is poor. Doesn’t matter if we win now, 1-1 after 70 odd mins at home to Azerbaijan is woeful. Please never play Tom Lawrence up front again, didn’t even notice he was playing. Giggs out.

I have to take back what I said about the defence 🙁
They really fancy themselves and who could blame them.

"RoDoN iS a RoCk"
Ampadu has been massively underused tonight, calling for the ball in space yet the lads have treated him like an invisible man.

Blame Giggs all you want, our players collectively are sadly not good enough. Bale’s been bloody awful. Apart from James none of them can put a dangerous delivery in the box. Against a team with a player who is so lacking in fitness he got cramp after 65 minutes.

Great goal.

Great goal. His decision making has been poor when he’s come deep to get the ball, imo. Made up for it with the header but on the whole you would expect more influence from him against the group’s minnows.

Hennessey dropping us in it again. Ward should start every game from now on, Wayne is a fucking donkey.

What on earth was Hennessey thinking with that pass?? 😲
I'll be glad when this game is over to be honest!

Ash and Chester were cool heads at the back. Father Time caught up with both but hell it would be great to have them two in their pomp

Can anyone see us qualify with Giggs in charge? And I don't just mean this campaign - but ever. The players clearly haven't got anything remotely resembling a game plan to play to. It took Joniesta coming on to inject a bit of go-forward (quelle surprise) - otherwise we would never have got the winner.
Honest question - would you prefer Gould or Giggs? At least Gould's team had a bit of fight in them.

Was there any player on that pitch that had a grasp of the basics? As much as I don’t see much positive about Giggs he can’t pass the flaming ball for them. Couldn’t pass wind, that lot.

We were very lucky. Not a convincing win by any means.
I don't know why but we seem to let our guards down a lot and have a habit of conceding possession in dangerous areas, particularly when we are a goal or more up.
Have we learnt nothing from the WCQ?

Oh don’t worry, I’m not discriminating tonight- they were all bloody crap, but Bale being the highest profile player deserves his share. He didn’t stand out at all against a minnow, are you happy with that?

Nobody should even dare celebrate this victory. Undeserved, lacklustre, created absolutely zero chances, shocking management and sub par performances from the players.
I’ll try and find some positives. Rodon played well, should be one of our first choice centre backs. Roberts and Dan James decent as well.

The victory is hollow, make no mistake GIGGS hasn't a clue, these kids need a manager, team selection was wrong , shapeless and unbalanced, the inexperience showed .

They all can play, they’re good players. Giggs has to shoulder this, he is infuriating and seems to have no grasp of football. Instinctice flair players like Giggs rarely make good managers. He’ll be spouting vague cliches that don’t mean anything post match in a few minutes now no doubt. I had expected to thrash Azerbaijan tonight and paper over the cracks of Giggs’ terrible work - lets hope this embarassment will be a catalyst for change. We won’t qualify under Giggs. Best we’ve seen Bale in a while, and Jonny made a big difference.

I haven't seen anything remotely resembling the 4-1 home win over Ireland since he took charge. Even the home win against Slovakia was light years ahead of this. The only consolation I can take is that Azerbaijan are a harder nut to crack than they make out. They were defeated by the same scoreline away to Croatia. Even so, I am immensely disappointed. We had a lot of luck tonight - and Bale.
