I despair. What is the world coming to?
Even Samir Nasri gets to play and Aaron is on the bench.
This is like a bad dream ;-(

From 5 Live's summariser: "When they brought on Ramsey I thought they would be creating more than they have".
More inconsistency, from the sounds of it...

When Aaron came on he was at the heart of every good move we did.
If he had Bale (or Ronaldo) up top, it would have ended 1-2 and not 1-0 ;-(

To be fair they thought Ramsey had scored with a header but then it turned out to be Koscielny and then it turned out to be offisde so you may have a point about their eyesight!

Didn't watch the game, but according to Twitter he played well after coming on and was the only to threaten:
"We look a different side since Ramsey came on. Amazing what happens when you use your best players."
"Aaron Ramsey has been on the pitch for 5 minutes and he is already Arsenal's best player. Unai Emery letting him go for free is one of the worst decisions the Premier League has seen in the last few years."
And this from Henry Winter - chief footie writer at the Times:
"#afc looked better when Aaron Ramsey came on. He looked like he cares about the team and the performance and he always tries. Poor by the club to allow situation where he wants to leave. Arsenal’s loss is Juventus’ gain. #WHUARS"
Seen tweets from charlton fans where Joniesta clearly impressed on his debut!

I'm glad other commentators are calling it out for what it is.
Purely speaking with my Arsenal hat, it's near criminal to allow Ramsey to go for free this summer. After a promising-ish start to the season, I'm livid that we seem to be regressing backwards once again. I think Emery's judgement needs to be called into question for his on-field strategies. The whole team seem directionless at times. Ramsey isn't gone yet, but he's effectively already been demoted. And what is Ozil doing to justify his £350k? Sell him on. I'm also reading a lot of this mess is to be laid at Stan Kroenke's door. It's no coincidence that both Emery and Wenger appear to have been financially constricted. Maybe Emery mentioning the fact that only loan transfers is now possible, is an attempt to force Kroenke's hands. I wish Usmanov had bought this club!
But boy, from a Welsh perspective, onwards and upwards for Ramsey. I hope that Juventus deal is sealed because he deserves it. I'm convinced that he hasn't fulfilled his full potential with Arsenal. What could he achieve in a team with Pjanic, Bentancur, Dybala, Mandzukic and Ronaldo? It's an exciting prospect that will surely bring out the best in him.
Arsenal will be a far worse club without him!

Modern football in nutshell that is.

Seeing that Juve are offering Benatia in exchange for Ramsey to get him out to Turin this month. That would be a great deal all round, all things considered. They're desperate for defensive cover and it'd get Ramsey more game time before the Slovakia game.
This deal's been a bit back and forth but it looks like it may be gaining momentum now.

I'd love it if he went in January, especially after reading this: Aaron Ramsey follows in footsteps of greatness by moving to Juventus www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jan/14/aaron-ramsey-juventus-john-charles-arsenal"...he would be going to a place where greatness is a tradition, pulling on the shirt worn by Raimundo Orsi and Luis Monti, Dino Zoff and Gaetano Scirea, Michel Platini and Zinedine Zidane, Alessandro Del Piero and Andrea Pirlo. And he would join a squad filled with the confidence that comes from winning what, barring a catastrophe, will be eight league titles in a row. A compelling third act might just be in prospect."

Rumours that the Gunners might actually let him go this month to ... join his mate Gareth in Madrid.
If true, that might shorten my current misery (as well as my mourning period).
Interesting.

Really hope he leaves this window. Nothing to be gained from the rest of the season at Arsenal. Really looking forward to watching him play abroad & seeing how he'll be at a new club.

Sounds like he did alright today against a good team and Arsenal won so I'll give him credit for that. As Arsenal fans have said his commitment is a sign of good character given he has a transfer pending and Arsenal will not be his concern in 6 months.

Arsenal's poor form has been in line with Ramsey being frozen out. As soon as he's brought back in they beat Chelsea comfortably.
Those who think he won't cut it at Juve are barmy.

Rambo starting in the Aaron Ramsey Cup v United ;-)
EDIT Back to his mesmerising best, in a free roaming role. Has an assist.
A very decent match.

Very busy at the start, good assist, but seems to have got progressively less influential, particularly since half time where he lost the ball at least 3 times, twice in the area. I hope Juventus can 'do something' with him because I just don't see how he is going to justify the money they will throw at him.

Juventus don't need to "Do something" with him. Of course he will - Juventus win Serie A standing on their heads because it's about as competitive as the Scottish Premiership (actually that's unfair on the Jocks as they actually have the rarity of a title race this season) But Juventus aren't buying him for Serie A are they because they have proved for the past 7 seasons that they don't need Ramsey to win it. They are buying Ramsey because domestically they are flat track bullies yet can't do the business on the European stage and he will be expected to make a difference in the CL. Given how notoriously inconsistent he is against top teams I'm really surprised that they think they can get more of a tune out of him, but hey, big clubs make crap signings all the time. Look at Coutinho at Barcelona. So I can't see Pep, Klopp and Simeone crapping themselves that Ramsey is spear-heading Juventus's midfield. Sorry.

He's only notoriously inconsistent in your mind. From what I've seen, most arsenal fans actually think he's a big game player. Does that mean he performs well in all big games? Of course not, but no player could make that claim. He's had two games on the trot now where he's played against a couple of the biggest teams in England. I didn't get a chance to watch them so followed the bbc updates, and on both occasions they were full of praise. He also received the highest score (6.86) from the bbc player rater from any Arsenal player. I for one am extremely exited to see how he does with the quality around him at Juve. From my understanding they play with a midfield 3 and like Ramsey-type players who can contribute in the middle, but also run from deep and offer a goal threat. I think his 'game' will suit them to a tee.
