Why doesn't he get picked for the u21s? Rumour a few years ago is that he refused repeated call ups to concentrate on breaking through to the senior team at his club, Wolves at the time I think?

Not just a rumour. The manager explicitly said in interviews they were trying to call him up and he wasn't interested. Been quite a while now since he represented us

It's not as if he will ever get into the England squad now. I know he is eligible for Jamaica but can't see him preferring that over representing us if he's good enough. If he ever gets a senior call up I expect him to accept it
I know we're a proud bunch, but I don't especially begrudge players who favour getting senior experience over playing youth football for us. So many U21s don't ever break into senior football and are nowhere to be seen for our seniors despite gaining a lot of caps at U21 level. If Campbell becomes a Championship player over the next couple of years then he becomes a useful option for our seniors (if he accepts), and that is a much better outcome ultimately

Would he have turned down England Under-21 for some league 1 action though? Maybe he will end up playing for us, depending how his career pans out. But it will be another Darlow/Dasilva kind of situation where we are the international consolation prize.

Being an England U21 is certainly more lucrative and puts you right in the window for Premier League / Championship clubs. The same isn't true of our youth set up unfortunately

As far as I am aware he has never played for them at any level. Plenty of our players have I.e., Amps, JJ, Raymond, even Taz Mayembe etc. he’s played for a good academy, has minutes in the Prem … so I would have thought he would have had an opportunity at some point, all guess work of course.

I wouldn't say he's necessarily thinking he will make it with England but it's blindingly obvious by now he has little interest in playing for Wales as he is one of the top welsh eligible players in his age group but hasn't represented us in years, and it's not without trying on FAW part

Well they both put off representing Wales for years/decades until we were the only option left so could be. Might be Campbell just doesn't enjoy international football or travelling generally though, who knows?
