Looking at flying to Tbilisi and then a long train journey by train. Bit of an adventure but needs must. Tbilisi is a stunning city - really worth a full day, if you have the time. The train is a 11-hour 9pm-8am job. Full luxury in a 2-bed cabin is only £24 each ;-)
On Friday we're doing the new Caledonian sleeper to Edinburgh for the weekend. I suspect it was a bit more than £ 24 quid and the reviews are mixed at best.

Hi guys what's a throw away ticket? Is it the same for Eg. A while back I was looking at LON to SAW £300. LON to TBS £150 with a stop at SAW. Was very tempted to buy and not get back on the plane. But this could get you blacklisted if used same airlines to baku or return .

But this could get you blacklisted if used same airlines to baku or return . What your talking about is a 'hidden city ticket'. Doing that is often a breach of the terms of the airline and like you say can get you banned. A 'throw away ticket' is a one-way ticket - often from a budget airline - that you are happy to buy and potentially not to use, effectively you throw it away. An example is that we could be playing Bucharest / Bilbao / Glasgow. So you buy cheap tickets, say £30 each, to each one of those destinations. When the actual destination is decided flight prices will shoot up and will likely be more that £90 (3 x £30). So you are quids in by booking these cheap tickets in advance. Sometimes the airlines actually cancel or change the flight meaning you get a refund as well.

Spent 4 days in Baku for the qualifiers. I was fortunate to stay in the Flame Towers ( which were fab) unfortunately I think that hotel is now way out of my price range for our next trip there. 4 days in Baku was MORE than enough ( in fact two days was enough!!).
Im sure it will feel slightly better in the summer than it did in winter time... although what on earth were gonna find to do for 6 days is gonna prove a real challenge tbh. There is isnt huge amounts to do in the surrounding areas and once you’ve done the Fountain square and old town bit your only really left with the stroll along the nice promenade and the big wheel!!!!
even though there’s a nice promenade I never spotted a beach area.
One bit of advice is to head to one of the local proper Turkish baths and spend a morning or afternoon detoxing in one of those places. Baku has a big Turkish influence in a lot of its culture. These can be cheap and very invigorating and will kill a few hours plus a great hangover cure!!!
maybe another idea would be to get a few of you together and get on a boat trip from marina.
one thing is you won’t be spoilt for choice for things to do

There are buses from Tblisi to Baku. Will post when / if get the details.
We took the train from Tblisi to Kutaisi in October, it cost 9 Lei each (2-3 lei to £1 gbp), 4-5 hrs and slow, we not in a hurry so not an issue. Apparently Stalin's great grandmother travelled on this train........ it is old. Got a Taxi from Kutaisi to the airport in a car that had 500k on the clock and it felt it and that cost 25 Lei.
We did Kut to Tblisi and basically asked Information in the airport to sort out a cab, they went straight to legitimate one and cost was circa €50-60 for 4 (200 lei), he stopped on way to get us water and some fruit and stuff. Glad it was at night as some of the driving was nuts. Reckon we were in Tblisi 2 hrs before any bus.

Just a note for anyone buying tickets not from UEFA. Face value or not... My understanding is that ALL Follow Your Team tickets purchased in December are APP ONLY and not printed tickets. Anyone selling these will need to enter the Stadium together with you, as a group, as the PDF scan-able file can only be downloaded within the perimeter of the security zone.
For ROME tickets, this is further complicated by the fact that they will have to show ID and matching place of birth ...

These are not follow your team tickets. These are in a neutral zone brought before the draw of which I will recieve actual tickets from uefa. I could of had tickets to any match but the draw played out to be Wales Turkey. If there is any Intrest in these then please message me privately on jaycee1991@hotmail.co.uk and I can give all the finer details and confirmations and anything else needed. Thanks

I know prices might be up during the Euros, but could someone who went to the qualifier say roughly how expensive everything is in Baku? How much is a pint, a meal, water? Thanks!

Beer in tourist areas approx £2/£2.50 a pint (outside of tourists areas approx £1/£1.50) A burger n chips or pizza style meal at restaurant approx £8/£9 We found the Hard Rock Cafe one of the most expensive bars but it still didn’t stop many Welsh drinking and eating there!!! Generally Baku is a lot cheaper than the UK but I expect most bars/shops/restaurants to follow the lead of all hotels and up their prices considerably compared to our last visit.

UEFA say it's definitely not possible to change details of the additional ticket holder. I guess if your mate is travelling anyway, all you can do is chance it. Possibly take photo of passport and letter of authority from the other person.

Anyone else doing 2 return trips out to Baku, or is it just this idiot?
We are in Florida until the Wednesday, have a gig in Coventry on the Thursday and am then planning on flying out on the Friday morning, get into Baku about 3am on Saturday. Fly back at 11pm, into Cardiff via Doha. Work Monday and Tuesday in London, then fly out via Istanbul Tuesday night. Into Baku Wednesday morning, back out Wednesday night (early hours), into Gatwick. Work Thursday and Friday, back out to Italy on the Sunday morning.
🙈👀

Looking for some advice regarding transferring in Istanbul SAW airport. We have the following flights booked (seperate bookings)
Stansted to Istanbul SAW then Istanbul SAW on to Baku (4 hours lay over in SAW).
As they are 2 separate bookings, will we need to leave the arrivals area, check in and go back through security? Will that consequently mean we'll have to purchase a VISA as we are leaving the international transit area?
Pretty confused at present.

Since we're leaving the transit area we'd need a VISA to pass customs and recheck through. Didn't realise this when booking and saved a bit by booking the flights separate but this has wiped it out. It's around £35 for a VISA just to pick up my bag and go back through security.

Did the Baku trip back in November flying: Stansted - Istanbul (SAW) via Pegasus Istanbul (SAW) - Baku via Buta Airways Didn't leave the transit area, so no Turkish visa was required. BUT that was because I only had cabin luggage.
