I've looked into every permitation. Only doing 1st game in baku. Hope to do NL in autumn.
Just wondering if another wave of flights are generally released further into the year.
I have a flight in mind for £400. THUR_MON
But was wondering whether baku flight to and from will become more available.

I would have thought all airlines would have released their June flights by now. The list of airlines who operate to Baku are listed here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heydar_Aliyev_International_Airport#Airlines_and_destinations. If you are desperate, you could try every one of those airlines to see if they are selling June flights to Baku.

The absolute bare-bones cheapest option for those wanting to leave Thursday is: RyanA Bristol to Milan Malpensa Thurs 5pm-8pm for £19 overnight in Milan or Bergamo RyanA Milan BERGAMO to TBILISI Friday 3.45pm-10pm for €89
Overnight BUSES dept around midnight on match day will get into Baku around 10am...
Other option is STAY AT AIRPORT UNTIL 01:20AM and fly with BUTA AIR for €49 arriving Baku at 02:30...
The same flights / same prices on Tuesday/Wednesday is what I am doing ... With two nights in TBS ;-)

Just browsing around travel options and came across that UEFA put on an extra train and several coaches for fans between Tbilisi and Baku for the Europa Cup Final. Has anybody heard anything about that happening?

Has anybody heard anything about that happening? No. I haven't. But considering that there are five flights coming into TBS airport after the 20:30 train has already left, it would make a lot of sense having another train a little after midnight and maybe one or two daytime trains...

For those of you that are familiar with the London TFL CONTACTLESS CARD USE, both Milan (ATM see here) and Rome (ATAC see here) have now introduced a similar system as of September 2019.
One major difference, is that both Italian networks will only work if YOU ENTER THE SYSTEM VIA THE METRO. You may carry on to the overground (bus/tram) and eventually tap out. However, you MUST first tap in at a metro station... Also note that the Milan contactless system does not include Trenord suburban trains.
Milan one ticket / 90 minutes is €2 or more than 4 trips in 24-hours are a maximum of €7. Rome one ticket / 75 minutes is €1.50 or more than 4 trips in 24-hours are a maximum of €7.

Anyone used pegasus. Has really bad reviews and worried about a connections and delays. Used them on the way to Baku in November and they were fine. We did have a 4 hour connection on the way over. Wish I opted for that this time to be honest. Went for the Kiev route this time with Ryanair / Buta and a tight connection. Later transpired that Ryan air have moved to different terminal with no airside connection. Had to right off 5 Ryanair flights and get to Kiev the day before with Ryanair and air Baltic. Added 95 quid to the trip. Sol Gokern is pretty good for your transfer. Upwards of an hour and you should be ok. That hour assumes hand luggage only

Getting to the ground in Rome can be a bit of an arse. Half way on the metro than all pile off and try and get on a tram.

Would anyone recommend going via Russia to Baku or is the visa going to be too much of a hassle?

Anyone flying Turkish Air to Istanbul check your junk mail. The flights have been changed, now operated by Andolujet.
I booked through an agent so need to contact them for more details but saw on twitter that the flights now leave from stansted and not Gatwick.

Haven’t officially booked it yet, but looking likely I’ll be flying out to Kutaisi and then getting the night train from Tbilisi to Baku. Going to stay out for the two games so will be following this thread for recommendations.

Purposefully avoided Stanstead as well. That's an extra £40 for the bus to get there and also a change at Heathrow.

Hi guys I've got my trip to Rome sorted. Now looking to sort trip to Baku just for the first game v Swiss. Currently looking at: - Gatwick to Tbilisi (1hr stopover in Riga) on 11th, arrives 3.30am = Aegean Airlines £200. - Day in Tbilisi then overnight train to Baku. - Monday morning flight 4.10am, Baku to Gatwick (50m stopover in Riga) = Air Baltic £183.
Anyone got any cheaper not too difficult ideas? ideally wouldn't want to leave UK earlier than 10th, and would want to leave Baku on 15th. Any help much appreciated!

If you went out on Ryanair from Stansted to Riga you'd save £ 25 and get an extra half an hour in the Riga stopover. £ 59 to Riga. 127e Air Baltic Riga to Tbilisi which must be the flight your on anyway. We're on that flight to Riga but going onto Kiev for the night. Its getting harder as the flights get booked up and choices more limited. I've been looking at the knock out stages and its not looking pretty. Win the group and we're laughing, London then Munich. 2nd and its deadly Amsterdam is easy enough but getting to and from Baku with a few days notice will be almost impossible. Not helped by the fact they've put 2 of the quarter finals in Russia and Italy the day before clogging up 2 of the main routes to Azerbaijan. We'll be into July and planes in and out of Turkey will be full of holiday makers and there's more than half a chance the opponents in Baku could be Ukraine. 3rd place is better although progression beyond the first knock stage is unlikely. Glasgow / Rome is OK. Bilbao / Munich could be great little road trip. Bucharest / St Petersburg - very unlikely that we'd need to get to Russia but Bucharest will be no walk in the park. Despite dozens of daily flights fares are already quite high.

Going to stay out for the two games so will be following this thread for recommendations. Although Kutaisi does have its charms, it is really not worth staying there overnight - unless you are flying out of there in the early morning. As most flights get into Kutaisi late at night - just catch the direct express bus from the airport to downtown TBS - between 3-4 hours (closer to 3 at night). The train doesn't really leave from Kutaisi proper and takes just over five hours ...
Tbilisi is absolutely worth spending a day (or five) in! Stunning city.

I've changed the plan since posting this. Flying direct to Tbilisi (return) instead, but still doing the overnight train. Will spend a day in Tbilisi on arrival and on the way back too, so really looking forward to it!!

If anyone is flying into Kutaisi AND has five or six days to spare in Georgia, before heading off to Tbilisi - I highly recommend taking the Vanilla Sky Air flight from Kutaisi to MESTIA - and maybe even another flight from Mestia to the tiny domestic airport outside Tbilisi. Both flights are stunning and cost around A TENNER!
FEEL FREE TO PM ME FOR MORE DETAILS - AS IT IS NOT QUITE STRAIGHTFORWARD ...

Gatwick to Ankara 11th - £75 Ankara to Baku 12th - £120
Involves an overnight in Ankara which looks cheap but would involve a Turkish visa.

I see what you mean. though, about air fares. The throw-away €15 fares are now few and far between... Still, Ryan Air has a Bologna to Bucharest on 25 June for €23 and a Milan Malpensa one for €33 on the 26th.
There are generally many more options out of the Milan/Bergamo/Bologna/Turin area to Edinburgh/Amsterdam/Gatwick/Bucharest than from Roma/Napoli.
Also, worth investing in a throw-away €15 Milan to Nice train ticket (already available on Rail Europe) as it is MUCH easier/cheaper getting to Spain / Bilbao from Nice/Marseille ...

In actual fact the realistic chances of ending up in Bucharest are higher than that. If group F containing Germany, France and Portugal includes one of the best 3rd place teams which it almost definitely will, the chance becomes 4 out of 6 possibilities. 1 out of six Bilbao / Munich and 1 out of six Glasgow / Rome. The more I look at a potential quarter final in Azerbaijan the more I hope we don't come second. They should have given an opt out on tickets for that game whilst still applying for the other QF 3 locations. If they're lucky it'll end up Turkey v Ukraine for that game although it'll probably end up Netherlands v the Swiss. Poor Swiss. 3 trips there in 2 weeks.
