I found another eligible player. Much like pitman a striker Peter vinceti of Rochdale. To old though and not good enough I'd assume

Think this shows that England do not have as much strength in depth as they would like to think rather than Dummett being a star.

Think this shows that England do not have as much strength in depth as they would like to think rather than Dummett being a star. If it is true then Drummett may be prepared to hold out for England. While he would be a 1 cap wonder for England he is hardly getting a shot at Wales (3 mins vs Holland off the bench wasn;t it?) and when all is said and done he is English.

I know that Liam O'Neil at WBA has been mentioned before but just looking at his Wikipedia page and it says his mother is Welsh and he would be open to playing for Wales but the article referencing this is from a Finish web site while he was on loan to a club based there

Thought I'd resurrect this thread, anyone heard of Michael Doughty? QPR player, on loan at Swindon. Has scored 2 this season so far.

Yeh heard of him. I remember him starting one game and a few subs appearances for QPR. One article said 'highly rated QPR youngster Doughty' but he can't be that highly rated. I believe he is 23 now.

I also believe Doughty tweets quite passionately in favour of England.

I also believe Doughty tweets quite passionately in favour of England. Just done some searching, seems your right, quite old tweets, but in support of England nonetheless. Scrap him then

Which position does he play? No mention in the article. Isn't he the captain of our u16s? I think he plays cb and qualifies through a Welsh mother.

Always wonder if Jay Dasilva will ever have a change of heart. Not that I would want anyone in the team that doesn't feel like they belong with us, but it's an interesting one as I think he'd be close to the squad now if he declared for us, given the lack of depth at LB.
I'd quite like to know more about Chem Campbell's links. I know he's listed as being born in Cymru but haven't heard where he's from?

No way will Williams of man utd ever consider Wales I note a snide edge to your remark, as well as using ‘they’ to describe Wales ... so you’re Sais then? Anything worthwhile to say on this debate or are you just going attempt to take a superior stance?

I can’t find much information on chem campbell but I think his brother trey (also at wolves) is from birmingham, also one of his ‘mates’ started an argument with a few of us on twitter saying he’s english. it’s a weird one, no info anywhere.

Yes I'm a neutral. I have nothing against wales other than overusing the granny rule It must be horrible for you knowing that English kids would rather play for Wales than the country they were born in. Good.

Yes I'm a neutral. I have nothing against wales other than overusing the granny rule Rules are rules. If you'd want the eligibility criteria to be changed I'd be interested to know what you think the criteria should be? I just think it's a bit weird to be criticising us for following the rules, rather than criticising the rules themselves.

He could have been born in a different city to his brother, it's quite feasible. Tbf it's up to Chem to decide no one else, and it sounds like he's chosen us.

Agree mate, see they have just "signed" a Canadian as well as all the promising Africans currently at Premier League Academys thus denying "smaller" African countries some of their best talent. For all these players it is not even the granny rule, merely living in England for the required time, they have no English lineage but hey it's England so the media don't dwell on it.

Yes I'm a neutral. I have nothing against wales other than overusing the granny rule No idea if you’re trolling ,and I do my best to avoid engaging and feeding trolls, but presuming you’re genuine here’s a few questions- -are you aware that most of the non-welsh born players are playing due to their parentage rather than grandparents? -most Welsh games start a max 1 or 2 grandparent rule payers at most (is this what you consider’overused’, if so what would you consider a reasonable use of the rule) - England have tried many times to take advantage of the granny rule, Neco Williams the recent example, they just aren’t successful at it.Are you happy for England to use the rule?

I'm not here to cause an angry mob rule, just stating the eligibility rule should be scrapped. Also the likes of barnes sterling etc have been brought up in England from a very early age. Come through the English system which is different from playing for a country because of parents/grandparents. I think its unfair when one country works hard to develop young kids and another nation comes along and takes them away, I'm talking generally here
