That four senior cap rule is an horrendous idea,is that new? what's to stop any welsh/english qualified players choosing england and then switching after three caps when things didn't quite work out like they had hoped but that's ok because they have wales in the back pocket as a back up,ok i am getting carried away but that rule is a joke.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of that rule either.

I’ve noticed Swansea and Cardiff have a few lads (English born) who have been at the clubs since u12/u13 and now are on the brink of Hitting the FIFA criteria of being at the club for 3-5 years
Does this mean they can be called up for wales squads or are there restrictions within the U.K. ?

Think it depends on education. If I'm not mistaken, they have to have been going to a Welsh school for 5 years before turning 18 to be eligible

To be able to play for us they have to have had 5 years of compulsory education in Wales

Im currently watching DRYCH: Boys Yr academi on Iplayer. The show is basically following 3 young Welsh players at Swanseas academy. One of the players introduced his roommate and his name is Zane Myers. He’s moved down from London and according to google he’s Welsh eligible. I wonder if it’s the school rule or other. Thought I’d this and found it interesting EDIT: some sources say England, Some Wales this one USA uk.soccerway.com/players/zane-myers/809330/

Been having a look through MLS squads since Bale's transfer there, and noticed that Jonathan Bond is at LA Galaxy now, playing regularly. I know he switched away from Wales and some may not forgive him for that, but hypothetically, could he switch back to us or is he locked in to England now? He's still only 29 and we could do with a better 3rd choice keeper than Adam Davies imo. If he is eligible to switch back, would you take him? I'm sure he and Bale will mix in the same circles in LA so perhaps he could convince him to give Wales another try.

I get excited when I see this thread updated, thinking there may be a young attacking midfielder prospect at Boca Juniors or River with a Welsh mother.
Always end up disappointed 😁

Zane Myers... great name, cool hairstyle and heard favourable reports about his playing skills. Brilliant if he is able to commit to us.

I’d rather have a third choice loyal to the cause in Davies than someone as slippery as that snake Bond. Named in a few senior squads yet still jumped ship. Like a Diet Declan Rice. However I don’t think he’s eligible as he’s played at the very least a few qualifiers for our u17s as well as England u21s. So has in theory used his one time switch. Happy to be corrected on that though.

Came across like an obnoxious tool. Could really do with a Daniel Barden, George Ratcliffe, Eddie Beach etc coming through .. but think we are a while off that!

Yep the keeper situation is a bit worrying. Thankfully Bond and Lloyd Jones haven’t quite hit the heights they’d have liked to. Certainly no Rice and Grealish in terms of quality. Not sure I could ever forgive a manager letting a Declan Rice slip through their hands like Martin O’Neil did.

Ireland have had a horror show .. completely different proposition with those two in the team. Lloyd Jones - Another one who got embroiled in arguments on Twitter and came across very poorly. It still amuses me how his career has gone .. bar brawls and League 1 & 2.

Could maybe give him the benefit of the doubt since he was only 19 or 20 when he switched, but ultimately I agree with you - I'd rather a worse player who's fully committed than a better one who isn't. It's a moot point anyway though if your second point is correct. I wonder if he regrets his decision... he'd probably have gone to two Euros and could even possibly be our starting GK heading into the World Cup had he stuck with us.

Once a players done what he did then No thanks. Maxwell , Cornell are better. If we were going to try convincing a keeper to play our efforts would be better going to Darlow but again ... no thanks. For those that are interested this guy also was at Southampton then Galaxy and was eligible for Wales en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyle_Davies_(soccer)Was obviously never good enough for Wales in the end but was eligible

Was looking on transfermarkt and found a young New Zealander called Finn Surman, 18 y.o. centre half played a few games for Wellington Phoenix in the A-League www.transfermarkt.co.uk/finn-surman/profil/spieler/724809Don't know if it's confirmed or not, nothing on dragonsoccer so might not be genuine and perhaps an admin error?
