Gatland, Howley and the other staff got to go!!!! It;s madness that Howley was allowed back in given his betting scandal past. I do believe he joined right at the start of the losing run (after Argentina WC loss). He has no business being around the first team and has presumably interfered with the responsibilities of others

But Howley is the one linking between youth Welsh team and national Welsh team. He's a) not as influential as you'd think and b) doing a vital job someone should have been doing for past 10+ years.
Ireland have the budget, the plan and the desire that senior club coaches go into their excellent private school system to train up young players.
How come we have so many ex-players as pundits and how many of them are working in our schools to help coaching?
Everyone had a part to play in two semi-finals in 12 years (so close to having been one final, two semi-finals) but everyone has role to play in where we are now too.

Final point in my mini-rant...
Is it so strange we're struggling to produce good numbers of sports people when, some hyperbole, the only shops on our high streets that survive are selling vapes or fast-food?
Maybe if we got healthier as a nation we would have bigger talent pool for sports and be better off.

The working class background of so many of our players historically gave us an edge, now it's a disadvantage. I wonder what percentage of the Irish team come from a privileged, private school background?

Time to get rid of the feathers and rebrand. It's a shower, bottom to top. Start from scratch and get some enthusiasm behind the support. People who watch games at the Millennium are day trippers with no interest in the sport. Time to build up a rugby version of the red wall

Fortunately, given how little competition there is in world rugby, it wouldn't take long or much to turn things around. It's not like football where there's a decent top 40-50 teams. There's only like 10 decent teams in rugby, the rest are insignificant.
I do find there's a lot of hyperbole regarding the state of the game right now though. It was only a few years ago that we completely thrashed Australia in the RWC. Things can (and will) change quite rapidly in rugby - take Australia themselves for example.

The cupboard is really bare. Our players lack the basic physical characteristics in what has become a game of giants. I see us being in the wilderness for years.

Lots of rugby fans complaining and making excuses about not attending due to the game yesterday being a 4pm Sunday kick off.
Don’t know they are born!!!

The cupboard is really bare. Our players lack the basic physical characteristics in what has become a game of giants. I see us being in the wilderness for years. I think on average we are 1 to 2 inches shorter than the English, Scots and Irish What is striking is the shapes of our forwards compared to the other nations (men and to a lesser extent the women) - their conditioning looks far worse. I don't know the ins and outs but there are claims that our youngsters have not even been receiving nutritional supplements (unlike all other nations) up until recently (not sure if they are now) and claims they are not as well conditions / given advise on nutrition, etc (what I know is from being even or even slightly edging the Irish and getting to a final and semi final of U20 WCs beating the likes of New Zealand, they have been hammered at U20 level by the Irish (as well as the English and French, while typically losing to the Italians) for the last 6 years! and they all look far more cut and fitter). I don't believe we are intrinsically lazier than other nations so it must be the shit culture the WRU have put in place and the lack of investment. Its similar with the regions We are in financial trouble but on the other hand the WRU is almost a £100mn revenue organisation - equivalent to the of the IRFU and maybe a towards 50% higher than the SRU. They are still wasting money on goodness knows what with the amateur game getting hold of something like £12mn to waste which is ring fenced. The lack of stewardship and amateurism is really remarkable, especially having suffered through the 80s and 90s you'd think there would have been a determination never to be left behind again! It is so, so sad that idiots in elevated position way above their intelligence, ambition or capability have been allowed to ruin our game like this,

Lots of rugby fans complaining and making excuses about not attending due to the game yesterday being a 4pm Sunday kick off. Don’t know they are born!!! Absolute clowns. Love to see them have to play the rugby equivalent of Montenegro on a Monday night & see how many turn up. They are not rugby ‘fans’ anyway, the reason they are moaning is because it disrupts their drinking & socialising opportunities, the game is incidental to them. There are far less week in/week out paying rugby supporters in Wales than there are football fans who do the same. It’s high time all this guff around rugby & it’s intrinsic importance to Welsh life is exposed for the bollocks that it clearly is.

Or...we acknowledge that rugby and football are both important to Wales but in different ways and often to different people. Then we stop the boring 'us and them' type discussions around it. Naive? Moi?

Tonight will be a good atmosphere I'm sure of it, and I think people being anti-Page didn't help. The excitement is back now though, think these next few years will be a ride
