Oli Cooper coming on for Swansea in the cup. Don’t know much about him, any relation to Brandon?

Nicely taken goal. I bet Giggsy will be pleased to see two great left footed prospects today for the Swans ;-)

Did really well for the fourth goal as well, driving the ball forward 20 yards or so in the build up. Seems like whoever comes in at the Swans does well in this system, which is good news for all the younger players there like Rushesha, Cam Evans & Brandon Cooper.
He's not related to Brandon, but is Kevin Cooper's son - the former Wolves and Cardiff midfielder.

Couldn't find his thread, but Oliver Cooper seems to be doing really well at Newport. Got another couple of assists, that's five and a goal in 10 games this season

Good to see he's started the last two games. Noticed Swansea fans praising his performance against Stoke away the other day, and he got the assist for the only goal today

Had another good game last night, good on the ball and always looking to create something. Had a great chance to score one on one with the keeper but decided to square the ball instead (put it down to inexperience maybe). Subbed around 60 mins and it totally changed the dynamic of the team. He looks like a very decent player. Listening to the commentary Leon Britton said that the feeling within the club was he was always going to be a late bloomer, so hopefully more to come.

Brings far more creativity than Ntcham.

Saw that he was subbed off around the hour mark so assumed he didn't play well, but good to hear that wasn't the case. So what type of player is he? I know he's been playing almost alongside Piroe but isn't really a forward. Is he an out and out attacking mid? He had a decent spell with Newport last season - 9 assists in 28 games

He had a decent spell with Newport last season - 9 assists in 28 games At the moment he's almost playing as an inverted winger, comes in narrow with the ball and supports the forward, makes some wrong decisions but his positivity far outweighs the negatives. Unfortunately for him at the moment the team aren't playing the most attacking football and there's a bit of negativity around the place, but he's definitely a shining light at the moment.

Is his Mother Welsh? Born in Derby to a English Father is the only info I have read. Could be a schooling rule since his dad played for Cardiff at the start of 2005 with spells at Newport and Neath, and coaching at Cardiff until 2014.

Another goal tonight and the commentator was raving about him. I only saw that final 15 minutes. Great to see young Finley getting more minutes and even Liam Cullen got on in injury time.

He is good isn’t he. Got everything except experience and that will come. A better option than Colwill for the World Cup in my book.

I think the WC will come too soon but if he carries on, he will be in March’s squad.

Might’ve made the last squad if he played for Fulham’s under 23s

Might’ve made the last squad if he played for Fulham’s under 23s Yeah, Luke Harris was definitely only selected because he plays for Fulham under 23s, rather than being one of Welsh footballs brightest prospects. Makes a change from the usual ‘Page probably has a grudge against him and wants to keep the squad a closed shop’ argument we usually get on here though.

On what evidence is he better than someone playing regularly and well in the championship? The World Cup is in 4 weeks, if a wildcard goes I’d rather it be someone with first team football under his belt

If he played that deep-midfield role he'd be a shoe-in for the squad. Unfortunately, we have lots of good quality players in his position. I'm sure many will believe he's more deserving of a spot than Colwill, which is fair enough when you look at their respective club careers, although I think Colwill's had a really good impact for us each time he's come on recently, as he often does for Cardiff too, and he's probably a higher quality player (if not as dependable yet). I suspect many more people will say he's more deserving of a spot than Joniesta. Again, that's fair enough, although I completely disagree. I think Joniesta's shown that he can have a significant impact at international level and is a really good option to have with a different skillset. But people will just shout League 2 and close their minds to any other factors.

On what evidence is he better than someone playing regularly and well in the championship? The World Cup is in 4 weeks, if a wildcard goes I’d rather it be someone with first team football under his belt Depends on what you mean by 'better'. If you're talking about the type of impact each player would have if we asked them to start a game for us tomorrow, I agree that Cooper would be a better option. But if you're talking about who the most talented player is and who we're more likely to rely on for the next 10 years, then everything suggests it's Harris. Therefore, there's a clear case for giving him a taste of it at this stage. With a 26-man squad, in all likelihood 10-12 of those players won't play a minute out in Qatar, so then it becomes a question of who would benefit more from the experience and what will work most in our favour in the long run. It's also about what each of them brings to the squad off the field. I know you're a big fan of the old-guard, but the same logic you're putting across here could be applied to excluding the likes of Gunter from the squad in place of someone like Lockyer.

I agree iot that Joniesta has proven over the years that he’s a quality player at intl level, he should be in the squad. The only thing I’d say is that Cooper probably has more energy/higher fitness than Joniesta? He was everywhere last night, working hard off the ball closing down/tackling etc. If there’s a choice between Colwill, Cooper, Matondo, Tyler Roberts, Harris (the Fulham one) then it would be Cooper for me, close call between him Colwill and Roberts, not much in it. Hedges unlucky not to get a mention!
