If he played that deep-midfield role he'd be a shoe-in for the squad. Unfortunately, we have lots of good quality players in his position. I'm sure many will believe he's more deserving of a spot than Colwill, which is fair enough when you look at their respective club careers, although I think Colwill's had a really good impact for us each time he's come on recently, as he often does for Cardiff too, and he's probably a higher quality player (if not as dependable yet). I suspect many more people will say he's more deserving of a spot than Joniesta. Again, that's fair enough, although I completely disagree. I think Joniesta's shown that he can have a significant impact at international level and is a really good option to have with a different skillset. But people will just shout League 2 and close their minds to any other factors. I agree iot that Joniesta has proven over the years that he’s a quality player at intl level, he should be in the squad. The only thing I’d say is that Cooper probably has more energy/higher fitness than Joniesta? He was everywhere last night, working hard off the ball closing down/tackling etc. If there’s a choice between Colwill, Cooper, Matondo, Tyler Roberts, Harris (the Fulham one) then it would be Cooper for me, close call between him Colwill and Roberts, not much in it. Hedges unlucky not to get a mention! This post makes a lot more sense than your previous, unprompted and unnecessary, dig at Luke Harris (a player who plays in a different position to Cooper may I add)

I was under the impression that Harris is more central than Cooper. My point about you having an unnecessary dig at Harris still Stands though, with him being a far better prospect than Cooper, whatever position they both play. Personally I reckon that, after the World Cup, both will be regulars in the squad anyway so the discussion is moot.

Not an unnecessary dig, I don’t think a player that’s only played 1 senior game and u23 football should get into squads ahead of someone that’s playing regularly and doing well at Championship level.

My point is that you can praise Cooper without criticising Harris. You started by saying that Cooper would be better off playing in Fulham u23s than playing for Swansea, which suggests that there is some kind of Fulham favouritism that Harris has benefited from which is bizarre in the extreme. Your next post praises Cooper and lists his strengths and how well he’s been playing, before comparing him to the players competing with him for the same position. I just said that the second post made more sense than the first, which I still believe. Personally I think it will become very clear in the next year or so why Harris has been selected, but by then Cooper will also be alongside him as a regular in the squad.

I've seen Hedges at least ten times in the last twelve months and he has been a class act every single time. Quite honestly, I have nor seen Hedges put in a less than 7.5/10 performance.

A shoo-in for a call-up. Surely?

A shoo-in for a call-up. Surely? Has to be on that plane. Cracking player who is comfortable in the Swansea team, and knows where the goal is.

Yep he’s got to be in the squad. Lovely finish today Given the midfield issues, maybe even the team

I'd be very surprised if we bring in any new players for the World Cup, but Cooper should definitely be part of the squad going forward
I think we may see several new players involved post World Cup

Can't see us bringing him in instead of a forward. If he played deeper in midfield he'd be a good option, but I think his time will be after the World Cup now

How on earth is this lad not picked. He is not even on the reserve list. Unbelievable Jeff.

Very odd - might have been the only experience he'll ever get of being part of a World Cup camp.
Cooper is a good replacement, though.

Having looked on Twitter last night, I have to be honest, I don't why fans were kicking off about Oli Coopers not getting picked.
Did people really expect Page to choose someone who's never played for us before? Naive thinking imo.

I was under the same impression then I watched a highlights reel of him. Club rivalry aside (there’s a lot right now) he does look Class!

I totally ignored the hype around him, having heard the exaggerated nonsense positive noise around Harris, who is not good enough
However, Cooper has scored a few games now and two of the goals I was able to see demonstrated great technique.
So he is definitely someone to consider now, especially given how weak we are in midfield!
