There is a thread for him already so I think this needs to be moved
Tbf to Mullin though, he can't play for Wales C because he doesn't play in the Cymru Premier. So it's not like he has a choice in this respect in terms of Wales or England. The C internationals are really just good games for profiling in reality
If in a few years Mullin is playing top end League One/Championship football for Wrecsam should we not call him up because he played for England C? I'm not bothered by it

Called up to the England C squad. That should put that debate on whether we should call up a non league player to bed… That looks like a really strong squad. Goes against the spirit of the match a bit when the Wales C squad will be almost entirely made up of semi-pro players yet the England C squad has called up experienced former Football League players who are only playing non-league because non-league teams are paying them more than FL teams would...

Apparently this is the first time England C have had an open age squad since
2008,its been under 23 during that time. Not sure why theyv made this change at this time.
Will make it more difficult than the first 2 games no doubt, but the sloping Oval pitch and the home crowd of Cofis and some others will be a bit of a leveller hopfully.
Wonder if the likes of Dave Edwards,Shaun Macdonald and Jazz Richards might be involved .

Will actually make it a great game to watch to be fair

If he keeps this scoring run of the last two seasons up he'll be knocking on the door of the first team in the not too distant future.

Players like Moore and Ricketts played when there was little chance of them moving up the leagues and becoming full internationals.
Personally I’d find it strange if Mullen played for England C ‘if’ there is a realistic chance of playing for Wales.
Disclaimer- this is not me saying that he has a chance of making the squad, but there was talk of him being part of a training squad at the end of the season so not beyond the realms of possibility.

Well you said yourself “you’d find it strange” when it looks like England C is a misnomer- it’s an England non-league XI vs Wales non-league XI. There’s nothing to see here, especially when you compare it to someone like Declan Rice

I find it hilarious how snobbish people on here get over the suggestion of calling up a non-League player who was the subject of attention from League One/Championship clubs last summer, before going on to suggest someone like Doidge being called up.
The fact is that Mullin scores goals on a far more consistent basis than our Premier League/Championship forwards, which breeds the confidence to go out and do the business against anyone.

Mullin has an outside chance of call up in the future. I think Jordan Davies will get one too, hell of a player.

Like I say, England C seems to be a bit of a misleading name. Like Giggs playing for England schoolboy basically. If he gets a call up from Wales he isn’t going to turn it down, until then he owes Wales nothing and is going to do the best for his career which means playing in a nothing game that might give him a bit of a platform. It’s a wise decision on his part imo. He could not play in it thinking he’s saved his “international virginity” to try and impress Wales and then never actually get called up.

No issue if he wants to play in this, no player in the national league or cymru premier is massively spoilt for choice when it comes to a potential international career so go for it.
Reading on Twitter though that Wrexham fans don't expect their players to accept the call ups since it's midweek between 2 league games.

Sorba Thomas was called up for England C last time but called off due to COVID.
I think it's all a bit unfair now since England C are all full-time. Whereas Cymru Prem virtually all semi-pro. It really should be from England's 7th tier and below. The whole idea of the C team was to give international caps to semi-pro or amateur players. Yes Conference Prem is non-league by technicality, but it is no longer a league consisting of mainly semi-pro teams. It's League 2.5 in essence.

The games have been close though,3-2 win for England at Barry in 2018, 2-2 draw at Salford in 2019.Yes the England side might be marginally stronger this time but a WPL select team would be far too strong for a tier 7 England side (IMO!) and would be pretty pointless.
WPL sides have to play proffessional sides in Europe most of the time so its nothing new to them, they want to test themselves against a strong side and I wouldnt bet against them in this. There are some pro players, and ex internationals dotted round the league as we have seen.
Also,by strict definition, the Cymru Prem is not "non league" but a national league.

I think it's a good opportunity for our lads. There's so quality in that England team. Hopefully they'll be better for the experience. In terms of Mullin choosing to play he's eligible for them but not for the Cymru C Team, he's expressed a desire to play for our National Team, maybe he just fancies a kick about.

Mullin has had one decent goalscoring season in his entire football league career, and he is 27. Just as he seemed to find his mojo, he dropped down two divisions.
He should be nowhere near a Welsh national squad.

He should be nowhere near a Welsh national squad. You're literally describing the fact that his level is higher than where he is currently playing, and then using his level to say he should never be involved with us I just completely disagree with all of that. Never useful to write anyone off. Look at Sorba & Kieffer who came through the National League

If Mullin played for Chesterfield or Stockport then nobody on here would have mentioned him

Look at Sorba & Kieffer who came through the National League I'm not writing him off, but if he's dropping down the leagues at this age he will be in his 30s before he's playing at a level where he could be considered (assuming Wrexham can achieve promotions quickly). I would again reiterate that until September 2020, his career as a striker had been completely uninspiring. We would need a Civil War with about 30 deaths before he was near the squad. I could name two brothers in League Two who would be above him in the pecking order (based on age and style of play), and their names have never even been mentioned on here. We also can't afford to have players who want to get sent off every 3 or 4 games playing at international level, they'll be walking red cards with the homework opposition do on you.

Great to see Mullin do well but hes playing at National League level, no way should he be in our squad. You can reel off as many players that have come through non-league football all you like but they all broke into the squad after moving to a higher division and performing at that level too, same applies for Mullin.

Has anyone said Mullin should be in the squad now? I don't think anyone has said he should be. All I've seen is people saying if he moves up levels with Wrecsam we should consider him, and some people saying that we shouldn't even if he does because he'll be too old by the time we get there

He’s only playing in the conference because of money. It’s not really an indicator of his ability. We know he scored a hatful at league 2 level, that’s good enough for me to want to take the next step and see how he got on training with the seniors.
Imo, goal scoring nous is to be highly valued because we don’t have many players who know anything about goal scoring at any level. Whilst that is the reality imo we should be exploring all available avenues.
Also the thing with international football is that it doesn’t cost us anything (in a financial sense) to try players out and sometimes players can just fit- look at Kieffer. Even though there was admittedly a massive level difference between he and Mullin many people wrote Kieffer off and he has proved himself arguably a better international footballer than he has a domestic one.

Not only was Kieffer absolutely slated, we were apparently an embarrassment for even considering calling him up according to some on here It just goes to show open-mindedness trumps closed-mindedness on these issues every single time. I'd be all for inviting Mullin to an EFL camp
