We've drawn Coventry City in the cup. Good chance to watch him in action against Championship opposition.

my opinion is he shouldn't be anywhere near the squad because he's in the conference. I think the same about Gunter & Jonny Williams too.

MLS is in no way comparable to the National League.
As others have said, this is only even being discussed because of the club he's playing for.

If he can score at League 1 level then he deserves a look but, until then, he shouldn't even come into the discussion. There are plenty of strikers who were prolific at lower levels that can't do it at the next level (I should know, Cardiff have signed plenty of them!) and, one season aside, his record in the EFL is poor. If he were playing for Boreham Wood or Chesterfield nobody would mention him, in fact I'd be surprised if it would have come out he's eligible. If it turns out he can play for us and he proves himself higher up the pyramid then great, but there are other options higher up the pyramid who should get a chance first As it goes I think Mullin would do well at a higher level, but you're right we do need to see it before we can call him up. That would probably mean we need to wait at least another 2 seasons, by which time he would be 30. If he's bang in form then it might be worth a shout, but I feel a cap will escape him tbh

Don't watch Wrexham but with their resources I am assuming they dominate most games and, therefore, Mullin has plenty of chances created for him.
Needs to play at a higher level to see whether he can hack it.
To suggest he's better than Mark Harris is speculative at best; if he was doing ok in the championship, or even L1, then that could be argued.
Hopefully he'll get that far with Wrexham and we'll find out.

A hat-trick for Paul today, taking his tally for the season to 22 goals in 25 games, our highest scoring eligible player this season.

There's probably someone playing for a pub team with a better scoring record for what relevance it is to senior international football. We might have had a bad world cup but picking 28 year old non league players is no solution to it

We might have had a bad world cup but picking 28 year old non league players is no solution to it I think the serious talk about Paul playing for Wales starts after Wrexham play Coventry. If he gets a brace then the issue has some merit if he’s a ghost that game or misses a few one on ones and proves it’s a level too much for him then that’s it. Luckily we don’t have long to wait

I don't think an average performance against Coventry City derails the Mullin train for good. If he keeps scoring, Wrexham go up and both continue as this season into next then he's still in the equation. Mark Harris makes every Wales squad and as much as I want him to do well he's hardly pulling up trees is he?

The question is whether Mullin would be ‘pulling up trees’ in the championship and how well Harris would be doing if he was playing in the National League with Wrexham

Different type of players. Think Harris would score a few for Wrexham but he wouldn't be top goalscorer if that makes sense? He's not a natural or instinctive finisher at the moment (could change).
He's very much a winger or makeshift striker. Provides energy by pressing well, making runs in behind etc.
Likewise with Dan James don't think he would be top scorer in the national league because that's not his game either.
Whereas Mullin is a pure out and out striker. Better comparison would be Moore, Vokes, Ched Evans and Bradshaw.

Really looking forward to that. Biggest problem is that I think Cov will definitely rest plenty. Was really hoping them got a Prem team as even with rotation, the side put out would easily be at a decent enough level to judge him.

We desperately need a goalscorer, desperately, so if Mullin turns out to be that man happy days, right now I'm very optimistic because he can clearly finish.

Fair point, in that case , people on here need to stop comparing Harris to Mullin when discussing the merits of Mullin getting called up.

In relation to who should get a call up it can remain a comparison seeing as we seem to have plenty of attackers that are good or not bad at doing all the other stuff, we need a goalscorer which is why Mullin has been brought up on a number of occasions over the last year or so.

Are we so bad that we are considering tier 5 players , give me strength

All teams are as good or as bad as to consider the best options available to them. We are no different. All teams are who they are. If Mullin can do a job for us then so be it.
It's obvious that he's playing below his level. We don't know more than that.
Some ill-placed pride in not calling up lower league players can only hold us back.

If Wrexham go up this season, and then Mullin continues to score at a good rate then I think it's reasonable to discuss a call up

Possibly. Probably, even. But we don’t know do we? And if he turned out to be one of out best options, and scored regularly, would you care what level he played his club football at?
If you want a squad full of Prem/Championship players, Wales is not the team to follow. We should pick our best options. If some of our best options play in League 2 then they play in League 2, so be it. If they’re picked, it should mean the other options are worse.

If he was 22 it might be different but he is 28. We have younger players who play at a higher level. If he was any good a championship club would of signed him by now

Sorry but people said this about Moore. It doesn't benefit anyone to just rule a player out without keeping an open mind - where would we be without Kieffer?

Well, he’s in the National League mostly for family/personal reasons. He’s already fairly proven in League 2, so he’s certainly playing below his level by choice. I don’t prticularly care about age if we’re looking for someone to do a job right now. A striker could be 40 but still get chosen if he’s the best chance of a goal in the very next game.
Yes, we have younger players playing bit-part or unconvincing roles at a higher level, but they are there simply because they are young - there is the hope and potential that they will become better. Mullin, in contrast, is destroying the level he’s at. If he shows he’s capable of that in League 2, and maybe League 1 by his 30s, then we’d be very arrogant to dismiss him. To be fair, not many are calling for him to be capped right now - IF they get promoted and IF he can do it after that, that’s what we’re talking about.
Also, club level is not often a good indicator in all circumstances anyway. Take Jonny Williams- people are calling for him to be dropped from the Wales squad simply because of his club level, yet he delivers for us almost every time he is called upon, against all level of opposition. People seem blind to that. He is one of our best technical players, has skills that we are lacking elsewhere, and in terms of raw football talent he easily holds his own with our squad. It’s no surprise he can’t hold a career higher up the leagues because of his injuries- he’s not worth the risk to a manager. But international squads don’t work the same way - IF he’s fit and available, then he’s a very good player. Very useful for an international team, not so much for a club looking to commit to a player.

I'll reiterate that this is a campaign based solely on the club he's playing for. If he was banging in the goals in the Cymru Prem or any other non-league team this wouldn't even be discussed.
Personal reasons or not, surely he can see that his international prospects were doomed the second he willingly dropped down two leagues (given he'd just secured promotion to League One) at a pivotal time in his career when he was approaching his peak years.

Ffs he is 28 and never played in the championship Not good enough end of story Anyone who’s seen the type of goals he scores can blatantly see he’s playing in the national league simply because of money. We should be smart enough as an association to figure this out and act accordingly

Any championship club will offer him a small wage as a risky signing for them. It’s probably not competitive with the wage two Hollywood stars can offer him as their marquee player. I don’t blame him for pursuing the money and don’t feel it should preclude a call up from a country that is struggling for the skill that he spedicifcally provides.

The question is whether Mullin would be ‘pulling up trees’ in the championship and how well Harris would be doing if he was playing in the National League with Wrexham Harris went to Wrexham on loan in the national league and couldn't get in a poor team back then Mullin has been top scorer in league two, was a league 1 player and turned down moves to championship clubs when he signed for Wrexham I wouldn't see him as a starter for wales but maybe as a squad member as back up
