Can't go back to Morrell, the warning signs were there against Latvia, came on and nearly threw away two points with careless play on the edge of the box. Came on against Armenia and looked pretty crap, got sent off against Turkey. Even Charlie Savage should be ahead of him now, he's had a number of chances recently that he hasn't taken. All he has to do is keep it as simple as possible, track average opposition and don't do anything stupid, he's failed. Harsh but true. Again I agree with you 100%, but Page has his favorites and Morrell is one of them. Jordan should start against Latvia, Turkey and Armenia. Thurs was a test to see if he can start against decent opposition, and I think Monday is a test to see whether he can replace Morrell Then when we play the likes of Armenia/Turkey/Croatia then that's another set of tests and another level altogether

James has flown under the radar somewhat. No more. On the basis of his showing against South Korea and especially last night, against Latvia, I predict big things for James. Although I was impressed with his showing at the time, perhaps I didn't quite appreciate how good he was because Parry and Harries in commentary didn't pick up on his quality.
Apart from his physicality, his reading of the game and distribution was top notch. He fired several accurate medium length passes to feet, and generally looked after the ball very well. It's a shame that his qualities are so similar to Ampadu's because we could do with an Allen clone. It will be really interesting to see how well he fares against Croatia. It could be that, like Morrell, he struggles against better quality opponents, but I think he will do well. In any event, given he's only 19, I think he's going to be a big star for us for years to come.

As I have said elsewhere on this forum - I am very impressed with him - he is a major upgrade on Morrell
Just 19 but ..........
Composed and has self belief Hard as nails Physical (Wales desperately need more physicality, especially in midfield - him and Ampadu bring that) Always looks forward as the first option when he receives the ball (none of our sideways or back as the first option that many of our players tend towards) Good range of passing and he passes it with pace and accuracy (not slow and short like Morrell (and even Allen, to a lesser extent) tends to favour - which is the safer option). We need to be quicker in our transition and so this is so, so welcome
He can be dominant (alongside Ampadu) against the weaker teams and I have seen enough to believe he can be the equal of his opponent in teams of similar ranking to us in the next few tears. We don't know how he will fare against top ranked teams over the next few years but its clear he is an upgrade on our other options
The boy seems a man both in his physicality and mental strength
Really impressed! Please do not let these qualities be coached out of him!

Just in case anyone was worried, 4 caps now, England will have to make do with Jude Bellingham!
Solid display from Jordan last night, very assured and not scared of the ball. We really needed someone to come in alongside Ampadu who could lighten his load and just keep it simple, it may have "only been Latvia" but they're no mugs and it was a good test for him which he passed with flying colours. I was particularly impressed with how he handled the non stop dirty tactics of the hosts, the assault on his knee was something else and he just let it go and got on with it.

We know Joe Morrell's ceiling. League One/Lower Championship at a push. He's been dependable at times for us but think now is a good time than ever to chuck James in the deep end against better opposition see how he fares.
If he sinks hook him, give him sometime to readjust and play Morrell until James can consistently produce outputs that surpass Joe or if someone else comes along that might be even better.
Ampadu played Croatia when he was 19. Nothing to say we could that with Jordan.

I thought James did really well over both matches. A very, very good competitive start. Certainly looked to fit right in with the team and put himself about nicely. Definitely a very physical and athletic player, completely different to someone like Morrell or Sheehan. More of what you'd expect from a modern midfielder. Will be interesting to see how he does if he starts against someone like Turkey or Croatia. He also has a bit of bite to him which I also like.
I have to question would he have had much game time had Morrell been available? I doubt Page will have trusted him if he wasn't 'forced' to play him. Hopefully this is a lesson that he can trust new and young players to do a job, and expand on his team selections. However I think he'll revert and go straight back to picking Morrell again....

No, James is certain to be selected ahead of Morrell. I wish I could be as confident that Page won't put Ramsey alongside Ampadu, to accommodate as many attacking players as possible.

Quite simply we can't go back to Morrell if we have James fit and available, it's just stupid.

I've always been very cautious when it comes to Morrell as he's playing his club football exactly where he belongs, in League One.
The nations we consider our equals against wouldn't dream of calling up League One players, so expecting him to up his game every time while playing in such a pivotal position was always going to be fraught with risk.
I'm much more comfortable seeing Jordan James, a younger player with more upside and already playing at a higher level, given a chance to take the ball and run with it.

I think Morrell is good enough to play at Championship level. In any event he's had enough good games for Cymru for him to be a part of the selection conversation going forwards. I certainly wouldn't attach too much significance to his sending off or his error in the Armenia game. However, James has earned the right to start against Croatia. It will be a big step up for him, but there's only one way of finding out if he's ready. A risk worth taking.

I still think he's a good option and has been unfairly treated by a section of our support. However, I don't think he should be the answer to our current midfield situation. If Ampadu or James miss out for any reason then I've got no issues starting Morrell. But those two are first choice now for sure. I want to see how JJ handles things against Croatia

Admittedly it was the fourth in a convincing win and he had far too much time and space, Jordan scored a nice goal tonight. Worth a watch if you can catch it.

Not much spoken about JJ last night, but I thought he outshone Savage in the way he drove things forward in the first half & at pace too. He’s a certain starter in most games now.

I think Savage will end up playing in front of James and Ampadu as an AM, or on the left side of midfield in a 433.

Magnificent
The best bit was that professional foul he committed when they were on the break. This teen has an old head on his shoulders. How the hell is he not in Birmingham's first team?

And to think not long ago we thought he was moving to the dark side.

Birmingham City must have very good central midfielders for Jordan James to be continuously on the bench, he's just played against one of the best midfielders, one of the best footballers in the World and looked like he belonged at that level.

Apparently he is 6ft 3 inches!
Birmingham City’s Jordan James was a huge revelation for Wales against Croatia tonight, showcasing immense composure and confidence against such experienced, quality opposition including Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic.
He’s 190cm tall at just 19 years old! Really impressive use of his frame to regain possession and asset himself, with lots of time still to improve even more in a physical sense. I liked the way he moved the ball with urgency - didn’t look a foot out of place and followed the game plan perfectly. Really impressive showing, and an interesting talent for Wales! 🏴
