Another strong performance tonight at Cardiff. Looks every part a championship player Best player on the pitch and by far the best I've seen him play. I had doubts that those early games for Wales, against weak opposition, had flattered him. But on last nights performance he's well and truly got the wales shirt on merit. Very unlucky not to have scored a spectacular goal. The lads got some strike on him and his positional discipline for a youngster is top notch. I'll be amazed if he's still at Brum next season, even after xmas. We've a number of players getting time and hitting form at the right time. We certainly look in far better shape than we did a few months ago. Roll on March. I see Lewandowski was taken off with 20 minutes to go with Barca chasing an equaliser. He doesn't seem to be finding scoring quite as easy as he once did, by his ridiculous standards anyway.

Accepted but the main point was that Lewandowski isn't scoring as freely as he once was and the hope that its more than a temporary loss of form. Of course its just a year since he was scoring against France and Saudi at the world cup. This calendar year his 4 international goals have come against Moldova, Faroe Islands and Latvia.

If there was a 19 year old who was the best player this season for Namibia, or Slovakia, or Peru, why wouldn’t Sheff Utd or Burnley take a punt on him? Or even Brentford or Fulham for that matter. You would get him for £4m now, he could be worth £10m come the summer.

Probably a lazy link based on nothing other than the fact that Bellingham went there from Birmingham, but it would be brilliant if true.

Sounds like our JJ is having fun. Third of the season Interesting that he plays as a DM for us but more of a ten for Birmingham. Versatility is no bad thing.

More like Will Vaulks than a Ramsey. Either way, two goals against the meanest defence in the league ain't bad ;-)

Just saw the highlights and think the second was lucky as it took a big deflection which lifted it over the keeper. The first was an excellent instinctive midfielder's goal. Nevertheless its good to have a midfielder who can and knows how to score goals. Think James is a perfect midfielder for us - he is a big, physical guy, who can drive play forward, his first reaction is to look forward and he is quite constructive in everything he does and if he sees half a chance he will go for it. I think James is far from the finished article but you can't put a price on his attitude and self believe - I think this will get him far, given he is also a decent player. Him and Ampadu have sorted out our central midfield problem for now! If we get another very good central midfielders then Ampadu will presumably drop to central defence

The guy is barely 19, easy to get carried away but we could have a real world class talent on our hands here.

The guy is barely 19, easy to get carried away but we could have a real world class talent on our hands here. That is getting massively carried away! Watched the full game yesterday. He took his first goal brilliantly and did really well for his second too, albeit with a fair bit of luck. However, there's also a lot of stuff he needs to work on. He needs to get on the ball more often - there were large spells of the game where he wasn't involved. There were a couple of times where he lost the ball in tight spaces and then seemed to lose a bit of confidence and sometimes avoided showing for the ball. To be fair, he was up against the best midfield in the league - Dewsbury-Hall, Winks, and Ndidi would make a more than decent premier league midfield - they pressed aggressively and definitely won that midfield battle. But still a performance that James can be proud of. Was also good in the second half against Cardiff last week, so he seems to be finding his feet at this level. If he can work on his all-round game, he could be playing at a higher level in a year or two

The worst thing is that Premiership teams look at young players with talent as commodities. I am sure they believe a lot of them will never get close to breaking into their squads but see them as having a much higher resale value in the future
I hope James does not move to a Premiership team this season - it will stunt his development

Could be our version of Jordan Henderson, in time. And I mean that as a compliment.

Yeah, Crew next to Ampadu, with James ahead of them would be some midfield in a few year years time. For 10's, we've got Savage, Raymond & Harris coming through, with Koumas & Johnson up top. If we don't win the World Cup with this lot, then we never will!

We may need to ask Ampadu to go back into defence!

You can see bits of it at Leeds when they play out from the back.

Most positive thing to happen to Welsh football this year
In recent years, I have only thought Brennan could be a top 6 player, when he was doing his thing in the Championship.
Was impressed with James from the first time I saw him play for Wales and he is definitely a Premiership standard player moving forward. He could potentially be a top 6 player in a few years - his physique, his range of passing, his forward looking attitude / driving play, his technical abilities, his decision making (works in progress but for someone so young it has been excellent for Wales), his versatility (rotating between two very different midfield roles with seemingly relative ease) and we knew he was happy to take shots but he is showing he is likely to be a 10 goal (or more) midfield type of player
Thanks goodness England U20s marginalised him when he went to them and they gave him a couple of minutes of injury time to play. Their loss is our gain - he is just want we need - a slice of steel in the middle, but someone who can play and score goals too

At fault for 2 of the Plymouth goals yesterday , do you actually study his involvement during the match and especially the action immediately before Birmingham concede or do you just look at the scoresheet and think wow he’s scored again ??

Haven't seen the highlights and not likely to either TBH so can you explain why you think he was at fault please? Seems to be a strong statement to make where someone who plays in his position is entirelty to blame for two opposition goals?

He was playing in an advanced midfield position so I saw him chasing back late when a guy got down the side
1. Was it his man to pick up or was his run just not marked and Jordan tried to catch him and so it looked like his error? 2. Maybe the issue with playing a new position is you get some defensive calls wrong 3. Most importantly from a selfish Welsh position - good he is making mistakes and learning at his club by playing regular games! Its like Luke Harris - he is wasting another year doing nothing at his club but would have benefited massively playing against men in the lower divisions. Difference between James and Harris is James is built like a tank and Harris looks quite slight - reminds me a bit of Woodburn - will Harris be able to stand up to the physical demands of men's football

Don't think you have seen any of the game yourself. Not at fault for any of plymouths goals at all. The only one where he is involved is where he is chasing back and its not even his man that crosses it. By the way what a volley for his goal and a great piece of skill in the middle of the park that starts the move for the 3rd Birmingham goal.

Certainly not to blame for the 1st and 3rd goals, and only marginally to blame for the 2nd. Birmingham were down to 10 men for much of the game.

His composure and his improvement when given a run of games is eye catching We really, really needed a genuine central midfielder and we have got one, who can play various positions. I am sure he knows but for the play offs - Jordan needs to play as a defensive midfielder but as one of the two who sometimes has license to drive forward. Ampadu for all his excellence has never even scored a goal at club level has he, which is quite amazing! He scored a great one against Belgium but it got ruled out unfortunately of course. Wish our central defenders could grab the odd goal. I think Rodon and Mepham are 6ft 4inches or something but are pretty terrible at attacking corners for us - look at McGuire for England by contrast!
