As the title suggests 7 of us all booked, 9 nights all inclusive in a four star hotel on the beach in Dubai, and three sets of return flights on match days for £2186, absolute bargain! Just need match tickets now but we’re all on at least 6 of the last aways not including Poland and Holland which most of us did as well. Happy to share the details if anyone is interested. That does seem very good and as we're all now seeing the remaining accommodation in Qatar looks pretty grim to say the least.

How have you booked the match day shuttles without tickets/Hayya card? You don’t need those to book the flights initially but have to provide them before you fly.

Personally the thought of catching 8 flights in 9 days sounds horrendous. Although I am slightly nervous about Qatar accommodation. Might have to take the tent in the desert option... It’s not ideal but at least on our days off we’re in a nice hotel, big pool and the beach, all food and drink included, the thought of either being couped up in an apartment and/or wandering around Doha trying to entertain ourselves made the flights seem worthwhile.

Yes but he’s been out in Qatar since …..feedback on here indicates not all local tickets taken up ie paid for …so maybe just maybe we will get an increase ….3.2 would be amazing…it was never going to be the 5k others talked about …thanks for update…and I understand that criteria out next week ! 🏴 Yes that's my reading of it too, but it would be nice to see it confirmed more explicitly, through a press release perhaps Yes the radio wales interview with moony and the rest of the programme was interesting. He managed to upgrade from 2,500 to 3,200 with a hope of getting more. Given last two away games went down to zero criteria. People can be confident on getting a ticket if they have been in stage 1 for last few games. I know of many that are in stage 1 that, for varying reasons are not going. Being in stage 1 of recent i have booked accommodation in Dubai and shuttle flights booked too. If i cannot secure a ticket with 5 out of last 12 there must be something seriously wrong. CCSeaman

Just a question for those that have booked accommodation in Qatar. If you are booking something bigger than a 1 bed / 1 person apartment, do they check / need names that all that are going to stay in the accommodation have tickets assigned to them or just the lead booker? I believe you can add/change the details of the secondary people at pretty much any time until you arrive, but we wanted a room for three and we needed all the passport details for all three. You only need one ticket confirmation code. The two I am going with don't have tickets yet which is why I booked the room. The people going with you will need tickets eventually because they will need a Hayya card to get into the country in the first place. But at the time of booking, you just need one confirmation code. This is what we got for ~$400US/night www.qatar2022.qa/book/media/ojahpqsy/02_doh4057.jpg?format=webp&quality=80There were some more hotel rooms released in Doha today but the prices are shocking, but there are still a lot of accommodations that have not been released. And then there are still a lot that are still being built... But the way they are doing it isn't helping them use their existing accommodations well. We're three in a four-bed apartment. We probably could have found a fourth, but as it is two of our group are waiting on tickets still and a lot more are in the same situation. It's hard for anyone to commit and agree to pay in for a room when they don't have tickets yet. And we grabbed something as quickly as we were able because we're perceiving (and I think correctly) that decent accommodations are at a premium. I think it makes the use of the existing rooms particularly inefficient. The friends and families of the players get their tickets through the FA and the process FIFA uses for that is totally different from the public. But it's also going to be months until it's done. To say nothing of the fact that the squads aren't set in stone and we don't even know if it's a 23-man or 26-man squad. So the families for all of the players in the tournament don't have tickets yet (unless they tried to get some for other matches on their own) and can't book anywhere to stay until that happens. That is not an insignificant number of rooms needed.

How come wonkysheep already have access to accommodation? Is it because they are affiliated with the FAW as the official fan travel? If that’s the case they should offer packages for people going for two games, at the moment the options are for the first game only and all three games. I know a lot of people going for the first two games because it’s convenient for time off work and family commitments . Plus they only have limited spaces so is everyone else supposed to take a chance on the Qataris building more accommodation in time? That’s a lot of people forced to stay in Dubai or elsewhere.

Slightly off topic sorry
Since booking this trip I’ve been looking into fanzones in Doha.
Seeing as all our games are in the same stadium 🙄 I can’t find if there are dedicated fanzones close to each stadium or some just in the main city centre?
Does anyone have any info?
As we’re flying in on the day for each game and straight back afterwards I’d prefer to be close to the ground for a few hours before rather than trying travel 14miles on public transport to get there an hour before KO, also seeing as the USA and the England games finish around midnight I wonder if there is anything to do after the game before we get our 4am flight back to Dubai.
Will fan zones be open afterwards 🤷♂️
There seems to be very little information regarding fanzones locations, size and what times they open and close.

You certainly did well there. Nice one How you planning on getting back and forth cos it’s a fair way from Dubai airport ( hours drive ish ? ) Taxis are dirt cheap over there as are privately booked transfers which the hotel should book and they get good rates even with their ‘kick back’. I reckon it’ll be around about a £50 max taxi fare each way I’m basing in Abu Dhabi and have had private transfer prices to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) for the match day shuttle flights to Doha and back and it’s only £60 each way and it’s 70 miles away. There are at least 4 of us so that’s only £30 each round trip.

Whilst I’m here,
In a bid to save money I’ve organised a private transfer in the UK and the more that join us the cheaper it becomes and is convenient as we get dropped off and collected outside the airport.
We are travelling from Cardiff to Heathrow to Dubai Saturday the 19th November with BA on the 20.40 BA105 flight and returning on Friday the 2nd December with BA on the 02.15 flight BA106
I did this in France albeit in a 17 seater minibus 🤣 and helped load of fans get back to their airport or accommodation after games. It saved a few £’s for everyone involved.
If anyone wants to join us please let me know. I’ll be organising transfers from Abu Dhabi to and from Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) on each match day too.
I’m not a tour operator, just a regular fan so I make nothing from this but just like being organised early on and if I can help some fellow Welsh fans all the better 😀

Having a play on their website, it seems that twin rooms are non-existent so if there is two of you, you have to book a two bed apartment or two separate rooms in a hotel. Even if you do find something more suitable at a later date, if I am reading their t&c's correctly any booking made after the 30th April there is no refund. Where you think that some accommodation hasn't been released, is that because they being are released in some kind of managed way or are they are being released once they are being built?

Where you think that some accommodation hasn't been released, is that because they being are released in some kind of managed way or are they are being released once they are being built? Bit of both. From following how/when some rooms have been released, it's clear they didn't release all the rooms at the start. FIFA still hasn't allocated tickets to the FAs for their executives, the allocation for the players' families or corporate sponsors, etc... and it doesn't sound like that is happening for months. Those people will all need accommodations and they can't get them until they have tickets and I would think those are the kind of people who will definitely be taken care of while the rest of us are scrambling. But if I had to guess (and I am just guessing) they are holding back rooms to make sure anyone who buys an hospitality package (which are steep) has a luxurious room and making sure there are rooms once they issue the special tickets directly to the FAs. But I also believe that they are building new accommodations as quickly as they can. Months ago some new single-unit options popped up in the middle of nowhere. I don't know that they are building anything I would want to stay in (I'm still curious if anyone wants to take those tents if/when they ever make them available), but I know that they are trying really hard to pull this off without a hitch and impress the world.

For those wondering, I've had my Hayya card come through and it took ~a week from submitting it to officially getting it. I'm hearing horror stories that family friends are not having their leases renewed around WC time in an effort to free up more space for visitors...what a mess.
