FIFA corruption still in evidence, both Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022 World Cup ballots should have been re-run. Infantino still under Blatter's cloud. Australia would be a choice for somewhere new, they have Aussie Rules and Cricket stadiums capable of refurbishment for football on top of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane stadiums.

If they kept it as a winter world cup, Australia would probably have a decent chance of hosting it as loads of their proposed stadiums from their bid wouldn't be used by their respective clubs - which seems to have been a stumbling block for them for a while

I really hope this happens, Qatar was a joke selection anyway without all the controversy that's emerged since.
England would be the obvious choice in terms of infrastructure but I don't think FIFA will choose a European host so its most likely to be USA or better still Australia. Both have a growing football culture and plenty of stadiums to use.

They have to include Cardiff given how successful the CL was. Look at Scotland too? I'll be happy to include oscardelta's ground in a "British Isles" thing, as long as the Racecourse gets an upgrade and is restored to its former International glory ;-) I know of no such place as "British Isles"........................ piss taker.

Canada would be a good choice i think - surely plenty of decent stadiums in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton etc England for stadiums in decent condition gets my vote............. London has Wembley / Twickenham assumming max 2 stadiums per city, Villa Park, 2 Manchester, 2 Liverpool, Newcastle then add 4 more likely Bristol, Leeds, Midlands stadium and Southampton

Wembley, Emirates, White Hart Lane NEW and Twickenham could be used. Villa Park could do with a lick of paint, however, it's still a quality stadium with good access for Home and Away fans. Went there in 2015 with the Swans.

England by far the best choice - a great range of grounds:
London - Wembley, Emirates, Spurs new ground, Olympic Stadium, Twickenham
Manchester - either ground
North - St James, Stadium of Light, Riverside, Elland Road
South - Amex, St Mary's, Home Park
Mid - Pride Park, King Power, Hillsborough etc.
Villa Park is in dire need of a refurbishment. Went there in Cardiff's PL season, the facilities were dreadful.

If they did move it from Qatar, wouldn't it have to be in Asia under the rotation policy? Surely, Australia would be a shout in that case (as they are classed as Asia rather than Oceania for football). Also China would be capable of hosting the tournament.
I would prefer it closer to home, especially if Wales qualify.

It would have to be China or Australia down South. Went to a game in Shanghai Shenuan a couple of years ago. Great Stadium.
Also USA or Canade but England would be OK, only problem with that is that we would never hear the last of it! 🙂

The big stadiums are cfl stadiums and Toronto play in a stadium I would think isn't acceptable for a FIFA World Cup plus of course you can only use one stadium in one city. Montreal impact use the old Olympic stadium. I'd say Canada only has about 6 stadiums they could use

Lot of you saying Canada. They are debating a joint bid with USA for 2026/30 they really don't have enough stadiums.

I'm in Doha's airport now ready for the flight to Belgrade. The World Cup 2022 will be held here, believe me. They are spending tens of billions of dollars and the stadiums are going up quickly, a completely new metro system connecting the entire country is 18-24 months away from operation and new hotels are opening on a daily basis. Just for good measure, a new city that will house 500,000 people is also nearing completion.
The warning against believing everything you read remains as salient as ever. Remember which Gulf state is behind the current hostility towards Qatar. Stones and glass houses spring to mind.
Safe journies to Belgrade everyone. I'll be there in time for a lunchtime pint.

Once it was given to Qatar, we all thought it would be stripped at some point. Now I think Fifa want to save face and will keep it there barring some massive change.

It'll be one big corporate w*nkfest with zero football culture.
Disclaimer: Obviously I'll go if we qualify but c'mon, move it somewhere decent please.

I'd be much more concerned with them using actual slaves and having horrific laws on their statute books. A girl gets raped? Don't tell the cops, you'll be charged with adultery. They could be swimming in alcohol for all I care but if we (Ireland) qualify, I, in good conscience couldn't attend.
But if other lads want to lend legitimacy to an actual slave state, have at it.

Toyko has stadiums closish together and you could argue that Wembley / Twickenham etc are on different cities as areas run by different councils......... a but tenuous but you want to hold games in stadiums with big capacity with 55,000 being lowest.

If FIFA pulled the World Cup from Qatar youd think theyd be hit with a massive lawsuit due to the millions having been spent on stadia and infrastructure by the country, its not about saving face but financial considerations IMO.

Who is likely to be our stars of 2022?
Stars
Ben Woodburn Ethan Ampadu David Brooks Danny Ward
Probables
Tyler Roberts George Thomas Regan Poole Harry Wilson
Possibles
Mitchell Clark Chris Mepham Joe Rodon Louis Thompson
If you could only put 4 in each group - who would you put in and who would you take out?

Stars
Gareth Bale Aaron Ramsey Joe Allen Ben Davies
Probables

Possibles
Emyr Huws Danny Ward Tom Lawrence Tyler Roberts
I think Woodburn and Ampadu will have to be really exceptional to be bona fide stars at 21/22 - especially Ampadu as a defender - but it's possible, and they are two of our most promising talents.
Ben Davies, Tom Lawrence and Emyr Huws are roughly around the same age, but Davies has already reached a much higher level of consistency and experience - he will surely be a star player (you could well argue that he already is)
Bale I hope has the intelligence to adapt with age - in 5 years he will only be a year older than Ronaldo is now, and barring incredible developements, will still be a star player. Ramsey and Allen could well be at the very peak of their game as dominating central midfielders at that time too.

Today in 4 years time, 19th Dec 2022 will be the DAY AFTER World Cup final.
Imagine in 4 years time if your head is thumping because you have just spent the night celebrating that your team has just won the World Cup.
What do you think you will be doing ?
Planning to be at Final as it is celebrating someone's birthday on that date and would be a nice present.

I still can't get my head round a winter world cup. They should go ahead and buy a fake world cup trophy from a market to award to the winner. The winner would also have to be desperate to put the gold star on their shirt and openly associate themselves with this cash grab travesty.
I won't shed any tears if Wales fails to qualify for this nonsense.
