Nathan Patterson (Tierny back up) at Everton has to have an operation on his ankle, most likely putting him out for the rest of the season. I've just had to do a double take on your username... It starts with the Welsh letter “V” :-)

And we're back to Poland away staying as it is Is it possible the Nations League games could remain the same with the final taking place after them? And only Scotland v Ukraine moving to September? That sounds like the solution which causes the least movement. I will add that I hope we go against this if it is the case, as a few spankings in the Nations League isn't exactly ideal prep for the final.

As a Forest fan seems to be big debate if Brennan or Dan starts the play off final. I would start Dan as Brennan may have possibly played 12 games compared to Dan 7 prior to the final. The one thing you have in your favour is that we have a manager who is all about the team and not the individual as shown at the weekend when taking Brennan off after 60 mins when on a hat trick.

Having watched both over the last few games and also for clubs, I'd say Dan is still quite a bit ahead. Yes he was very poor in the final third and in front of goal against Austria, but his work rate off the ball is miles ahead of Brennan. To the point where Brennan looked lazy in comparison when he came on for Dan against Austria! Towards the end when Austria were breaking, I was screaming for Johnson to track back, whereas Dan would have already been there. Bale can't track back like he used to, so we need someone with Dan's energy and work rate. Until Brennan improves that area of his game he'll always be behind......for now.

Poland being off suggests that Ukraine are pulling out? We can't host the game until after the 4th June, as Circus Extreme have a residency until that date at the CCS. Yes. True- as I pointed out on Sunday- without fully thinking through I was looking at 5 June which would mean a change to the Poland game

Steve Cooper is the best thing to happen for my club in over 20 years. He believes in youth players like Paul Hart did and he was in the crowd like me cheering on our under 18s against Chelsea last night in the Semi Final of FA Youth Cup. He is our best chance of holding on to Brennan if we dont go up. Also think Brennan needs to think careful about where he might go for his own career and for Wales as he needs to develop and not be a bench warmer.

No one is going to want to be the one who kicks Ukraine out of the WC if they can't field a team. All Ukraine's NL games could be cancelled and their position in League A in 2024-25 protected without too much impact on anyone else.

Chances are we will get to September and be in the same boat and Ukraine may ask for another postponement

So easiest thing to do is kick the can down the road until July/August.

Any numbers we were going to have in Qatar will get thinner and thinner the longer this goes on. Soon enough the moment of buzz and excitement will have passed and everyone will prioritise other things. If we then qualify in September time, it will be too short notice for most people to book anything, due to affordability, availability and leave. As if the first 2 points weren't a massive issue already.

They have to play this is June now - there is no date on the end of the war, so pointless pushing it back again.
They have bigger concerns than when to play a football match.

The thing is the counter argument is “all you can think about is yourself at a time of war” and UEFA will be very concerned about the bad PR that that accusation will bring. Personally I’m seeing it a lot at the moment- “how can your problems matter because people are being blown up”, it’s a good way of invalidating people’s issues and getting them to shut up. I can’t stand it. As much as we all have sympathy for Ukraine and want an end to this conflict (who wouldn’t?!) life in a country a thousand miles away does go on and will go on. They have to get this play off final played, whoever qualifies from this path will be at a significant material disadvantage at the finals if they qualify in September. To make things worse the Scots had something of a reason to postpone given potential fixture position but now they have every reason to want to postpone now that Tierney is crocked til the end of the season. There is going to be some hard lobbying from both Ukraine and Scotland to complete this path as late in the day as possible and given the PR involved it’s got a good chance of succeeding imo.

They have to play this now, they probably give them a month or 2 it was quick and over but its doesn't look that way. They put out a side or forfeit - the world cup isn't going to be postponed. These games now have to be played there is no other option. Im sure this isn't the first or last warring county/footballing conflict.

It’s hard to believe that the decision hasn’t already been made and they are just waiting for the right time to announce it. I’m in the camp that the fact it hasn’t means it’s being kicked down the road. The time to announce was during the hubbub around the final draw. It was a good time to “bury bad news” in a sense as while the world was distracted by the headlines of the draw they could have slipped in that Ukraine have a hard deadline to be fit for in June. The fact they missed such a golden opportunity suggests to me that there is a serious chance that no decision will be made and the situation will drag on until late May with all involved none the wiser about when it will be completed. Look at how late they left the original decision to postpone the Ukraine game whilst letting us carry on v Austria. That’s set the standard for what people will accept. Also we’ve seen with the Russia situation that UEFA are pretty reactive. They won’t make a decision initially and will see which way the wind blows and if enough stink is caused they will go with the populist line. I think this is more of the same. Ukraine can lobby harder and longer than we can, it’s a battle the FAW can’t win so all the FAW will do publicly is accept the situation and wait for a decision, no matter what they might think of the delays in private

I'm sure UEFA also will not want to reschedule June's NL games, potentially impacting 7 other nations, if Ukraine then end up asking for a further postponement until September. Will they would surely be granted.

Not a fucking chance will FIFA agree.

If it affects the fans it affects the team by proxy. Look at how disadvantaged we were by Covid in the Euros, Netherlands not letting away fans in. We’ll be playing away games again at the WC if we qualify because the majority of the tickets will have been bought and accommodation sold. Most significantly for the England and Iran game which will be like a home game for both of them. I don’t think we would be taking big numbers for obvious reasons but these delays will result in a pocket of Wales fans being a handful of Wales fans in actuality. Also, it is in no way fair that one side qualifies long after all the others have, less than 2 months before the start of the tournament, just because. The only reason (as I understand it) that there are still other play offs in June is because of Covid. Also imagine telling Southgate and the English FA that they only have 2 months to sort out logistics. Southgate suggested that their logistical planning was significant and was based around the group draw. We might be doing similar but what a waste of money for grass roots football if we don’t qualify and we’ve spent time and money planning for an event in an alien culture that we didn’t even qualify for. It’s pretty poor treatment really but it doesn’t matter because we could be having our houses blown up so it’s okay really

It's a right pain in the arse I agree, but still not sure it will actually impact our players that much. It didn't do Denmark any harm in 1992, I know the tournament was next door in Sweden.

I just can't see how this conversation goes and who will handle the PR nightmare that this could turn into.

If Ukraine can’t fulfil a June fixture they should do the right thing and withdraw and not wait for an ultimatum. Sounds harsh I know but they’ve already been accommodated once and can’t expect everyone to do it again.
