Plenty of room for friendlies in 2025 as they move to twelve groups of 4 or 5 teams for the next world cup. Best / mad bit though is for those in 4 team group start the qualifying games in Sept and finish them in Nov. I like this move to quicker qualifying rounds but that with them coming down to within the calendar year. This is done and dusted in 8 weeks, well apart from those in the play offs.

Friendlies for nations getting confirmed by "the nations involved" all the time during the last 2 weeks or so (not by UEFA yet)
Was told a while back September was at Home, with Swansea being considered as a venue
Would expect confirmation asap this week

Anyone heard on the grapevine anything more definite about a September friendly for us? Announcement keeps getting delayed, it seems.
Gibralter at home in October, but why nothing fixed as yet for early September (pre-Latvia, away)?

I take it there's still no news about the September friendly?

I haven't been to Wrexham for an international since the West Germany game in 79.

I haven't been to Wrexham for an international since the West Germany game in 79. Fair point but its not insurmountable (i.e. sell TTs without the Racecourse game included) and no reason in itself not to hold a qualifier or NL game there.

Right on the doorstep for all the North Wales fans.
If only the North Walians had any idea how much of a pain in the arse it is for us in the South to get all the up there for a Wales game.

Agree with what others have said, at 15k I can only see the odd Nations League game up there and the odd friendly However, if the capacity ever increased to 20k in the future, I could see us utilising it a lot more. I could see the benefit in having a smaller, more intimate ground to make it difficult for teams visiting

Once the Kop is built, along with the fact that Colliers Park is there, I would love Y Cae Ras to be the permanent home ground for the women too. Could easily see out big games at a 20k stadium.

We haven't had less than 20k for a competitive home international since 2013, we're regularly hitting the high 20s and even the low 30s for competitive games in Cardiff, I don't see why we'd want to limit that by moving competitive games to a smaller ground
I'm not a particular fan of moving competitive games around, I think it's best if we have a stadium, pitch, training ground etc that players are familiar with and comfortable in to get the best out of them.
I know it won't win me many friends, but competitive games (certainly qualifiers) should be in Cardiff imo.

Not sure that qualifiers will be in Wrexham but the odd Nations League game I can definitely see happening. This seems the sensible way forward to me. Keep continuity for qualifiers - at the moment the CCS is the perfect sized stadium for us for qualifiers. I'm fully behind Nations League and friendly games going to Swansea and Wrexham once they have the new stand. On a horses for courses basis but would be good to have more than just minnows hosted outside Cardiff.

Cards on the table, I live in Cardiff so it's obviously much more convenient for me if all games were played at CCS. However, I'm slightly torn on this issue. Part of me wants to see more games at Y Cae Ras out of fairness for the Gogs and I'd enjoy making a trip out of it personally, as I did for T&T (although recognise that would be very different if I had to do it for every midweek game as gogs currently do). I completely understand how people would see having one-off friendly games against minnows as token gestures. Equally, however, that has to be balanced against what's best for Welsh football both in terms of gate receipts (and the FAW is hardly flush with cash) but most importantly our chances of success.
The squad have been vocal about their desire to stay in the CCS in the past (when rumours of a move towards the Millenium was surfacing) and there's something to be said about having settled surroundings and the continuity that brings from camp to camp. If there's a chance that moving some competitive games to Y Cae Ras disrupts the club-like feel we've worked so hard to develop, I really don't think we should do it. When it comes to qualifiers, the sole priority should be what gives us the best chance of success imo. I know it won't be popular, and people living in the north and probably the vast majority outside Cardiff will see anything else as a token gesture, which it probably is, but I just think we have to do what's best for the squad. The best compromise probably is to keep all qualifiers in the CCS, but play higher profiel friendlies and some NL games at Y Cae Ras and in Swansea.

I'd keep qualifiers at the CCS but tour the Nations League games. One in Wrexham, one in Swansea.

Regardless of the venue issue, is there to be a September friendly as well as the Gibralter fixture in October?

A shame it’s not in Swansea but great opposition to play. Have we had a well attended game in Swansea over the past decade years though? Well there’s not been a game with fans in Swansea since March 2013 which had more fans than the three games at the CCS later that year. I can’t see there being 32k at the CCS for this. Be lucky to get 15k. Perfect to play elsewhere.

South Korea at home in September will be a great 'end of summer' friendly fixture. They have some skilful players and will be a good test for us ahead of the Latvia away qualifier.
Especially if we've done well in June against Armenia and Turkey, there will be a big crowd in attendance.
