It’s not even a pain for us really, more of a pain for FAW to implement but they do it to ensure a fair system Since we’ve become popular to go and see I’ve been wanting wrexham to implement something similar to reward those who travel all over. Appreciate its probably a nightmare logistically so can see why we wouldn’t, would at least be good to have a loyalty system though. Instead they’ve reduced the allocation of tickets available to season ticket holders lol.

Does anyone have an idea how many are likely to travel out? Or anyone fancy giving a guess?

Does anyone have an idea how many are likely to travel out? Or anyone fancy giving a guess? I think it will make it to stage 4 and either sell out in stage 4 or have about 50 left for stage 3. There are 1770 in stages 1 to 4 so I base that on 55/60% uptake. I would think something like 1500/2000 will travel. I have no basis for this figure other than about 1500 went to Samsun and it's not as awkward to get to as Samsun but not easy like brussels, Netherlands, Poland either.

There were a lot less than 1500 in Samsun, closer to 1100 I reckon. No idea how many will travel to Riga but it seemed to be the popular choice when the draw was made

Have haversting at PP. it's near impossible to get an away ticket especially small lge1 grounds 🙈 as its in previous aways. But every away game there is tickets available in pubs - social media etc

There's no way this drops to 1 is there? Haven't renewed my red wall membership yet and can't really see the point if I'm unlikely to get any use out of it until like October now.

Don't think sorry, might miraculously make it to the 2 aways stage but I think that's unlikely too. I guess it's possible the FAW beg for more tickets but also unlikely I'd say.

By considering we didn't sell our allocation for Turkey, this one's a Monday night game, not that many direct flights, our recent form. I reckon this might squeak into stage 5 being 3 aways. I might be totally wrong though!!

A FEW TIPS FOR RIGA
Airport bus 22 is the only public transport where you are still allowed to pay the driver (€2 with contactless CC) - but if you need to transfer onto another tram/bus to get to your destination, best buying a 90-minutes Timed Ticket for only €1.50 from kiosks or the mahcine near the bus stop. You will need to VALIDATE this every time you board. You can board the last leg of the tirip on minute 89 and ride to the end of the line! www.rigassatiksme.lv/en/tickets-and-e-ticket/types-and-prices-of-tickets-1/time-ticket/ NOTE THE COLOUR SCHEME within Riga Transport: YELLOW are bus lines ; RED are trams and BLUE are electric trolly buses. There is NO METRO / Underground in Riga. I tend to use the MOOVIT app for transport in Europe, but it looks like Google Maps is equally decent for Riga.
RIGAS SAO is the main bus station near the right bank canal - all local, intercity AND International buses start here. Rīga-Pasažieru is the main railway station - about 800m away from the bus station.
Blackheads House Riga (add €1 for a coffee) €7/€5 rgl/student entry open DAiLY 1000-1700 Address: Rātslaukums 7, Riga, LV-1050
St. Peter's Church spiral observation tower €9/€7 rgl/student entry. Church entry is normally free. Its €3 during special exhibitions.
Laima clock - a useful pointer / meeting place. In the centre of Freedom Square - this 1924 brown clock can be seen from everywhere and was erected by the Soviets, so that people will not be late for work!
Albert Street / Alberta Iela is the main street for art nouveau in Riga and the most beautiful street in town
KGB HQ The Corner House, Brīvības iela 61 - €10/€4 rgl/student 10:30-17:30.
Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum / Brīvdabas muzejs - One of the oldest and largest open-air museums in Europe is located on the banks of Lake Jugla, just a 40-minute trollybus ride (number 31 / €1.50 TIMETABLE) from downtown Riga. Most exhibits are pre WW2, most of them were originally constructed between the 17th century up all the way up until the 1930s. Open DAILY 10am-6pm. Entry rgl/student €4/€2
Cesis medieval castle 2h from Riga entry rgl/stu €10/€6 open 10-18h. Bus departures every 30 minuts (€5). Faster by train (€3.30), but only six departures.
On a very long day, you could combine Sigulda medieval castle, on-route to Cesis, even by using the regular public transport. There is a train back from Cesis to Sigulda at 1612-1652.
TALLINN STREET QUARTER & MIERA STREET- For those familiar with Christiania in Copenhagen, the Riga equivalant is this up-and-coming FREE-RIGA HQ. Full of chic bars, bean bags and hammocks .... Be sure to visit the Laima Chocolate Museum on PEACE STREET. entry is €7 and a full 2hr guided tour and chocolate masterclass is €17 - reservations essential on +37166154777 or writing to muzejs@laima.lv - the museum is OPEN Wednesday to Sunday 1000-1600
Lido restaurant chain - branches everywhere. Has buffet style spread of all regular local dishes/deserts. Just point an ask to be heated up! Their VĒRMANĪTIS branch at Elizabetes 65 (1000-2130), is particularily nice. If you fail to find KVAS rye tanker cold drinks on the streets, Lido has their own hom made bottles for €1.50/500ml.
FOODS TO SEEK OUT Piragi - Buns with bacon and onion filling is the most traditional. In small bakeries. Sklandrausis vegetabke pie - Local Kurzeme Carrot Tart Breakfast food: Smoked Eel (lamprey), cottage cheese (Biezpiens) and Keffir yoghurt. Griķi- Buckwheat ; Rupjmaize is black rye bread Rye Breads Saldaskaba (Sweet and sour) Skābu kāpostu zupa - Sauerkraut soup with pork potatoes etc. Aukstā zupa – Cold soup. Made of beets, kefir, such vegetables like cucumbers, tomatoes, may add boiled egg. Shaslik is not Latvian (Georgian) but very popular.
Finally ... of course ... The local Opera and Ballet tickets (circa €10) are here - www.opera.lv/en/schedule/2023/9/0/list Carmen on Saturday 9th and Rodin's ballet Nights of Horror on Sunday before the match.

Ticket sorted but unless I’m missing something the website isn’t listing any specific seats this time. Will just make it harder/impossible to estimste how many seats have been sold or are going on to the next stages.

Same. Opted for BLOCK T, but otherwise, can't seem to pick a row/seat. Only option it indicated was to collect in person, which is fine, as I'll be there for four days already ...
Looks like I'll be paying the same €10 to see Giselle at the National Opera House, as Rambo and Co ;-)
Will try to re-visit the TIPS post above and add to it ;-)

Got one in stage 2.
It must be pretty galling though for those that prioritised an expensive trip to the Qatar World Cup though, getting no loyalty points for their trouble, over last autumn’s Nations League games and the Croatia/Turkey qualifiers.
Someone who didn't go to Qatar but went to either of those will have jumped over them in the queue.
I appreciate that we knew this before the World Cup but doesn't feel right somehow.
