On reflection I've probably underestimated both ourselves and Finland. We've got 4 players playing regularly in the Premier League (Neco, Mepham, Wilson, Johnson) and a fifth (Davies) who would be playing regularly if he were at a lower Premier League club. We then have no fewer than 8 players playing regularly at top end Championship clubs (Rodon, Ampadu, James, Roberts, Brooks, Moore, Broadhead, Burns). If we were a club side I think we'd be competitive with PL clubs of the magnitude of Forest through to Bournemouth. Finland have one top notch player (Hradecky at Leverkusen, their one position where they will have an edge over our equivalent in Ward) and one other top European league player in Jensen (Augsburg). After that they have a couple of players with Cracovia, a team struggling near the foot of the Polish top flight, Kamara at Leeds, and Forss with Middlesbrough. Joel Pohjanpalo plays for Venezia in Serie B (one to keep an eye on with 16 goals this season). So overall perhaps they're closer to a Norwich than a Birmingham in terms of approximate overall quality. It will be a tough encounter for sure, and they have a lot of height in their team, but we are definitely a step above in overall quality. From our side vs Turkey where we played reasonably well i think we look weaker defensively. Ward is not playing. Lockyer is out. Davies seems out of favour now. Roberts has been on the bench. Up top im glad we have players getting minutes. I just hope Page doesn't overlook them to shoehorn Ramsey in somewhere.

After yesterday's 25' display, EVEN I wouldn't start Rambo ;-( Happy having him in the 23 and certainly an option after 75' - but only if we are chasing a game. That is after bringing on Brennan, Brooks and Broady

Very bad one according to McKenna. Yeah, doesn’t sound good, hopefully he’ll recover in time for the Euros should we get there. Blow for Ipswich’s promotion run too

Very bad one according to McKenna. What's a very bad one? Wes Burns' injury, gutted for him as he's a good player.

We’ll need a replacement for Joe Low as well by the looks of it.

So the cover for our 3 centre backs, in Low and Cabango, is blown. Perhaps we will need to drop Ampadu back into the back 3 at some stage, so who comes into midfield for Ampadu in that scenario?

I guess Morgan Fox could potentially fill in at centre back, but that's a big ask of an uncapped player. Dasilva wouldn't be suitable, so who else could Page call upon in the event of an injury or suspension to the regular back 3?

Got this from X
"Sorba Thomas ranks -
5th for big chances created in the Championship (15)
1st for chances created (100)
1st for expected assists (11)
7th for Assists (9)
All whilst playing for a team who sit 22nd , have the 17th least goals per 90."

Perhaps a call up for Brandon Cooper might be in order. 26 appearances for Orient this season.

Pohjanpalo is too: 10 goals in last 8 games. Pukki has played 4 games recently too.

Daniel Håkans, right winger, is one to keep an eye on 4 goals in 6 qualifying games.

The only justification I can think for King is that it's for training purposes and he's happy to do it to support in that capacity. I can't see a scenario where our fourth choice gets anywhere near the pitch so is it worth dragging a youngster away from regular club football to fulfill that role? Maybe not but I would still argue it's useful to introduce them to the setup if there is a view they could be more involved in future. I would say the same. King only really included for training purposes so the goalkeeper coach doesn't have to join in physically serving balls to the keepers during training. And they're able to take a proper coaching look at the keepers.

Any injuries to the back 3 and Fox will come in, any injuries beyond that I wouldn't be surprised to see a change in shape to a back 4. Losing Ampadu from midfield would be worse than changing to a back 4 imo

Losing Ampadu from midfield would be worse than changing to a back 4 imo That is probably what would happen, although I would prefer we went straight to a 4-2-3-1 if a CB got injured. Bringing in Fox, with no caps, who's mainly a full back would add little to the defence, whilst going to a 4-2-3-1 will add to our attacking numbers where we're strong.

The midfield have to impose themselves on this game, it has to be Jordan and Ethan in the middle, with the exception of Sheehan coming on I don't trust anyone else to have the ability and mentality to keep it together if we became under pressure. Kieffer has to start, he's fit, sharp and scoring. We've got some brilliant options from the bench for a game against this level of opposition, with twenty to go we have the personnel to go up a gear when they're tiring, I can't ever remember a Wales squad having this much depth up in attacking positions.

Regarding Burns, Low, Cabango... Having selected a large squad, is RP able to draft in any replacements for injured players at this late stage, anyway?

1 goal & 2 assists against Athletico Madrid last night. Yes, 5 goals and 3 assists in last 7 games is pretty hot. Hopefully 2 games in quick succession will impact his performance. Both Finland and Poland are strongest up front (as are we of course). We need to cut out the service at source. The performances of Ampadu and JJ are critical, although it would be good to see us press from the front.

Luckily for us, in the event that we play Poland, we won't be playing Barcelona. We had an on fire Ian Rush for years and we did precious little in the grand scheme of things. Lewandowski, like most strikers, is pretty much nothing without the service, plenty of sides have shut that service off when facing Poland.

We shut that service off last time we played Poland, shame we didn't shut off his assist for the goal. He's still a top player and will be very dangerous...if we play them
