I was there about a year ago for a few days. Loads of good bars, cheap as chips too. we were paying about £1.50 a pint in most places. Decent food for small money. Thats the place for me.
Then we went to Kotor, rammed with tourists and a cruise ship. Waited over 2 hours to get a table to eat. €5 -6 a pint . Personally I would avoid it,

What flights are people looking at? Seems like mainly options from London but wondered if anyone had found a route from Bristol with a convenient change somewhere?
I've seen a few doing Easyjet to Dubrovnik from Bristol but getting from there to Podgorica looks like hassle unless you hire a car.

EasyJet Sat 7th 7am from Manchester to Dubrovnik via Geneva Taxi or mini bus to Budva for 2 nights. Move to Podgorica early on Matchday. Matchday night in Podgorica. Ryanair Tues 10th Podgorica to Manchester via Zagreb. Arr Manchester about 8.30pm. Flights about £230ish.
If anyone is doing the same and wants to share a taxi/minibus to Budva get in touch

I see that the Wizz Air at stupid oclock from Gatwick to Podgorica is now £144 ... I didn't take it when it was still £25 ...
I'm a little surprised that more people aren't going via TIRANA. Gorgeous city and a very convenient flight from BRISTOL. Ryan Air out Saturday at 6pm, arrive Tirana 10pm - £70. Flight back is equaly convenient on the Tuesday Dept 1200 arrive Bristol 1415 - £69 JUST BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A RIDE THERE...
Another Ryan Air flight from Tirana to BRS late Saturday evening, arriving BRS at 00:45 Sunday for £40. Tirana to BIRMINGHAM on Thursday is only £33
MANCHESTER TO TIRANA on Saturday evening is still only £50.
Airport shuttle to Tirana city centre is €4 every hour on the hour 24/7.
Only two DIRECT buses to Podgorica take 3.5hr and leave at 6am and 8am €14 - from the International bus Terminal (South of town). You can go via Shkoder (from the "SOUTH and NORTH Bus Terminal" (actually, NW of town) every 30 minutes and takes 90' cost €4 - departures up until 6pm. Pleanty of cheap places to stay in Shkoder - and buses from there to Podgorica at 8/10/12 and 1320 - €12, 2hours. If you really want to make it to Podgorica on the Sunday (but don't fancy the early morning direct buses) you can still go via Shkoder and take the less convinient bus at 2130 (said to arrive by 2330) with Vetoni Tourist €10 - NOTE THAT THIS BUS DEPARTS FROM 4km South of Shkoder city centre.

When I looked at the BRS-DBV flight I made a note that there might be a 7pm bus departure to Podgorica, but that will be a close call. Seems to be a 0715 departure on match day, due into Podgorica around 1230. To be fair, one evening in Dubrovnik is plenty!
Also, have a look at buses from Dubrovnik to TIVAT - seem to be more frequant.

Like us stay in budva then onto Podgorica, if you get into dubrovnik at around 14.00 hrs you can share a taxi with us 😉

Apart from the 'cruise ship tourism' debate, why else favour Budva over Kotor (en route to Podgorica)?
I've read a few travel guides which say that Kotor just shades Budva in terms of facilities and attractiveness.
Anyhow, the important thing will be to get to Podgorica for matchday!

Budva is the party town, Kotor more cultural so depends what you're after.
Me and a few others are on the early flight from Gatwick to Podgorica day before game then off to the coast after that.

Based in London, so booked the Ryanair, Stansted - Podgorica flight on match-day, scheduled to arrive at 10am - £55. 2 nights in Podgorica then a week in Budva. Return flight booked with Ryanair again from Dubrovnik to Stansted £60 but @ proper bonkers o’clock in the morning.
If anything more civilised comes up I’ll swallow the loss and book a different return flight.

An allnighter on the last night has sounded great previously at the planning stage, but is never a fun activity in practice :-)

My god, that’s totally perverse. You suggest that we drink water on the last night ? About as much chance of that happening as adopting a veganist diet on tour, going out jogging every morning in Podgorica, or thinking that Ryanair flight was superb, we had way too much leg room. ;-)

As always, thanks for the really useful info! Very late to the party as I didn't think I could make this game. Looking at what's still available, think it'll be fly out 8th Bristol-Krakow-Podgorica for two nights, then a bus to Tirana for another two nights before Tirana-Pisa-Bristol back on 12th. About £200 or so altogether, so not too bad.

Am in Budva now. Nice place but crammed with tourists. Beer expensive, €5 - €8 for 500ml, the top 100ml,is froth. Restaurants quite expensive. We had a day in Podgorica, it has character. Cheap bars, plenty at €1.60 for 500ml. Very friendly. I would recommend.

That sounds good Elliot. We are going to stay 3 nights in Podgorica, it seems most I speak to are doing the same. Wonky have about 500 doing 3 nights there, so it will be the usual party atmosphere. We thought of staying in Budva, but beer is three times the price, and I can’t see more that a hundred or so being there. Podgorica t is. Just have to sort flights now.

We were there in 2010. Think it was 2 nights in Budva, then 2 nights in Podgorica. Budva is a really beautifull and magical place and well worth a visit, beer prices notwithstanding!
Cant rem much about Podgorica, just a generic eastern European city, hotel a bit naff, old fasioned. Wasnt really touristy, hence the cheapness, which was fine for the game, but i wouldnt want to spend too much time of a holiday there.
Its more difficult this time being a double header, and prob arriving late Saturday, but we are considering taking a spin to Budva for the sunday night and revisiting it.

Definitely doing 2 nights in budva, there is alot more to do there, there are loads of bars that do beers for €3 and restaurants that do food for reasonable prices.
Podgorica is only so big so doing 3 nights there would get boring plus budva is next to the sea 😁👍🌞
