Yeah that's not one to judge anything by, just a game we needed to win by any means necessary
There's absolutely no way we come out of that with 3 points under Page

A wins a win indeed. Very fortunate if we're honest, Montenegro deserved a draw. Bellamy’s comment about the performance against Turkiye being our worst hasn't aged well, as we were outplayed fir much of that game.
JJ should have come on at half time and Harris after 60 minutes. Moore, apart from the early goal was poor and contributed nothing to the high press. That was the most disappointing aspect, our failure to win the ball back high up the pitch. Bellamy got the tactics wrong second half, but just about got away with it.

Horrible, horrible weather which made it a horrible pitch.
A win.
Time together as a new squad and coaching staff.
Not sure there is anything else to say really. Hope the fans who made it out managed to have some fun and stay safe.

That after the dramatic start was a painful watch The conditions/ref were shocking We were poor at times due to the above I believe Bellamy gets a free pass and rightly so after this but a win is a win and we needed it

Sorry, but some of our players have no idea when it comes to game management.
Watch the last 2 mins back & you will see exactly what I mean, a corner for us which we don’t play short & cross for nobody which leads to Sorba giving away a needless foul in the opposite corner when all he had to do was stand up. The subsequent free kick leading to Sorba collecting the ball on halfway with Harris free to his left & a free run in on goal, which he decides to draw a foul which he doesn’t get leading to a corner for them & chance to snatch a draw.
Hardly any other team in International Football would be that naive.

Good 3 points away from home. Cracking goal Wilson. Sloppy performance, bad conditions but same for both sides and Montenegro deserved more, Jovetic was class.

A very entertaining weekend of football for us anyway. A whisker from 6 points, and a whisker from 2. I guess 4 is cool then!

I don’t think we’re any better than we were with page right now. All these formations look great, lots of nice possession and touches like the Poland match but I’m not convinced by Bellamy yet.
Iceland away will be a good test. This is the minimum we’d expect a draw against turkey at home and a win away tonight.
Not sure why jj was dropped tonight he’s too important for us

I'm OK with these last 2 matches. 4 points, draw against the strongest in our group and a win in awful conditions. I saw enough to suggest we're going in a new direction and more detail should stick as games go on. We couldn't play our passing game and they were doing really well with the ball over the top.

So Friday we maybe should have won and tonight we could actually have lost so four points is very good all things considered

I don’t see tonight as a reflection of anyone or anything! Just a mad game that we won.

Moore contributed very little after his goal and we were crying out for Harris' energy out of possession. So I don't think Bellamy gets a free pass entirely. But the conditions and ridiculous referee were exceptional hurdles to overcome for sure.

If the conditions are bad then why didn’t we adapt? If their balls over the top worked then why didn’t ours? Because we didn’t play any maybe? Failing to adapt to conditions is just that - a failure. And I am fed up of our players being muscled off the ball all the time, in almost all areas of the park. They are as physically strong as the opposition, but don’t know how to win a challenge, accepting that this charlatan of an official didn’t know what constituted a fair challenge.

Everything was poor about that game, the result aside. Poor conditions, poor weather, poor team selection, poor game management, poor performance. Montenegro are not a good side but were better than us for much of that game.

This was not a normal game. I can only assume that the people venting use this board as a substitute for therapy. On to the next one.

Moore had stopped being effective for a while when he went off, and once JJ came on we seemed better able to pin them back.

So all our games will be played on billiard tables in 28 degrees, against fair-minded & sportsman-like opposition, with the referee from the World Cup Final will they?

Well, you can’t really play balls over the top in the same way against a team that doesn’t play a high line! We play a high line at the moment, soteams will do it, and it’s a risk we have to deal with. We seemed vulnerable at times.

There were players making those runs in behind and we weren't playing them, especially in the first half I imagine the players were unsure with playing those balls due to the conditions, they had a far smaller area to play it into compared to Montenegro with their deeper defence

I remember watching the Under-19 qualifiers in Montenegro last season and the pitches were mostly atrocious....just seems to be a problem for them. Harry Wilson now our best player? I think he has been for a while now.

Personally, I think it's because it's Bellamys stamp on the team. I keep hearing about Bellamys non negotiables, we were sometimes shooting ourselves in the foot with the build up play against Turkey, I'm guessing it's drilled in that we play that way at all times. I won't claim to know anything about Montenegro so that might be how they play.

Maybe it’s Futsal maybe it’s basketball maybe it’s tradition but these ex Yugoslavian sides put lovely patterns of play together , class running off the ball etc . It doesn’t seem to come naturally to our players so hopefully Bellamy can get us playing more like that over time, it will take a year or two at least probably!
Where’s our next Jovetic? Wilson is a lovely player but not really the same, Colwill seems promising and Brooksy if he can get fit…

It's undeniable the conditions played a factor. I'm not saying Gareth Bale would be less effective than John Hartson on a waterlogged pitch but it'll probably bring them closer together.
