We have not had a noticeable big away victory since Israel in March 2015. If we are going to qualify for the World Cup automatically we need to take more from away games. Depends what you mean by noticable and big. The win against Turkey at Euro 2020 was a big game and an away game in every sense of the word and we won that We've had some good away wins in the Nations League. Beating Ireland away was big for our mentality given it was our first win against someone without both Bale & Ramsey I believe. Ireland were around our level at the time. Also a good win away to Finland where Levitt got his debut I take your point overall though, we didn't have a statement away win under Page, who was usually happy to draw the away games and try to win at home. Very unambitious. I'm not worried about Bellamy doing the same thing at all, in fact I think Bellamy will be licking his lips at this one. We will try and win no doubt about it We also have nothing to lose as a draw doesn't do much for us and isn't really different to a loss, so we might as well go for it

It will be interesting to see how Turkey start the game, given that they were without the ball for most of the first half in Cardiff. Our profligacy in front of goal aside, the only time we looked uncomfortable in that game was when they pressed us high, for a period at the beginning of the second half. For unknown reasons, they only did this for a short period, then allowed us time on the ball again. Maybe they don't have it in them to press for long periods? I think they'll probably allow us the ball again, back themselves not to concede in a low block, and look for individual moments or Welsh mistakes. We need to prove that we can break down the top team in the group, and also that we can continue to play well, away, after half time. They tried to press us high at the beginning of the game too, we just played it out really well and caused them all sorts of problems. We also went long several times when they pressed ridiculously high, and managed to get in behind really well that way

I think they will want to impose themselves at home. If so, bring it on!
Interesting to note that the Faroes beat Armenia 1 nil away today.

I don't think a draw is a complete disaster. Draw with Turkey and beat Iceland, that would take us to 12 points. We would then need Montenegro to either beat Turkey (leaving them on 11 and us top), or they draw in that game and it comes down to goal difference (as head to head would be equal).
Turkey only beat Montenegro 1-0 at home and we saw first hand how tough they were away so it's not out of the question they get a result.
Our only issue would be that they are on +5 GD and we're on +2 so would need to beat Iceland by at least 3 goals. Tough.

Its pretty straight forward
We need to beat Turkey. We probably wont but I hope the players believe they can and play like that. Turkey may be better than us but they are not France or Germany!

Let's hope for a 90 minute performance today, it's not going to be easy out there. We need to win, but I reckon it'll be a draw at best . A win would be fantastic.

Does anyone know if you can watch this on Sgorio’s YouTube live stream outside of the Uk?

Does anyone know if you can watch this on Sgorio’s YouTube live stream outside of the Uk? From memory, you need to be logged in to your account to stream the match. In theory, I imagine if you use a uk VPN, that shouldn't be a problem

Team news... Darlow Connor Rodon Davies Neco Sheehan J.James Wilson Brennan Harris Sorba No DJ obviously the main surprise, particularly with Sorba hardly playing since the last window - not sure about that one… Massive test for Harris and Sheehan. At least we’ll have a far better idea of what they’re capable of after this!

Hmmm I'm surprised DJ hasn't started. I would have thought Bellamy would be relishing him.
Looks like he's still experimenting before the actual qualifiers.

Also might be a case of DJ having had less time to understand the role Bellamy wants him to play

Also might be a case of DJ having had less time to understand the role Bellamy wants him to play I think because 'he's new to this' is a fair shout. Also, Sorba arguably our best player v Turkey last time out. Bellamy has talked before about the need to limit some players' game time in a 2:game window given the intensity of his tactics, so maybe that also? That said, is this Darlow as our first choice now then or can we expect to see Ward against Iceland?

Hope I’m wrong but it looks like one of those games where you need to call the police in advance because you know a murder is about to take place

Such an intense place to go Turkey. Need to keep the fans quiet. Think this a game where we’ll really miss Ampadu’s presence in midfield.

I hope Bellamy has a better pep talk than that Believe me so do I. Maybe I’m over-egging as it’s not exactly “welcome to hell” in Istanbul but still Turkey 6/7 wins at home, vociferous fans influencing the easily influenced UEFA refs and us determined to play in a way that could lead to self-inflicted mistakes. That calculus does not support Wales getting a result, if we are completely honest.
