Looks like our Neil has one hand on the Aaron Ramsey Cup...
... And that his good pal Ben has not ;-)

And that his good pal Ben has not ;-) Don't think it would happen, but I wouldn't be against calling him up again Important to remember this wouldn't be the first time - he was brought back from the cold in the Euro 2020 campaign after promising performances against Aston Villa, only then to have an absolute shocker against Azerbaijan and hasn't been involved since. I just think he doesn't suit the system anymore. Gunter just about gets away with it because he can play centrally in a back five and cover both flanks, Taylor doesn't offer that.

Is it just me who struggles to forgive him for what he did to Coleman? Not much different from what Shawcross did to Ramsey in my view plus in a key game, probably set the tone for the reverse fixture too. I’d be fine with never seeing him in a Wales shirt again, even during an injury crisis.

Yes I do remember, but I think it would be slightly different. At that time Giggs was persisting with the 4-2-3-1 and I don't think Taylor was that well suited to that system at the time Now he's playing as a wing-back for Boro, and we are sticking with a wing-back system too. So I think the fit is better. Look ultimately I don't think our backup WB is getting on over these games. But would I prefer to bring on Taylor or RND if there is an injury? Probably edging towards Taylor given Boro are doing really well at the moment and he's playing every game I think there won't be too many surprises in the squad though and we'll see RND as per

The fact there is little in the way of mitigation, for me, means it transcends the usual football tribal loyalties.

Accidents happen.

Accidents happen I don't hate Shawcross for it. I hate the Stoke fans who taunted Ramsey about it

Struggling to forgive a player from out 2016 Euros semi-final team because of an accidental foul he committed years ago... Jesus wept. I'll never understand some people.

Struggling to forgive a player from out 2016 Euros semi-final team because of an accidental foul he committed years ago... Jesus wept. I'll never understand some people. The outcome may have been accidental but you don’t lunge in with stamping force with your foot at shin height accidentally. If that was done on a Wales player we all know there would be no mercy shown on here. I’d hate it to be done on a Welsh player (and we know better than most what that sort of challenge can lead to) so therefore I hate it that a Welsh player did it to someone else especially when it was utterly unnecessary to do it in the first place and in a key game too. Sorry if it upsets people so much but on that basis my view is that it’s very very hard to defend and “but he got us to a semi final” is really no sort of justification at all. But seeing the general reaction seems to be that people are over it that’s answered my question, I’ve given my reasoning why I don’t agree so I shall now bow out and leave you all to it!

I was in Dublin for that game and the shit Roy Keane was spouting out to their press before the game was showing me they were ready for a fight and they wanted to rough us up. The first half of the game showed me exactly that as the Irish were kicking the crap out of our players but obviously our players had enough of the fouling and decided to rough the Irish players up in revenge in the 2nd half. It was plain to see before the game started that it was going to be a fight and it was Keane who was antagonising it. Not that Taylor was blameless, but the game devolved into that type of match and hard tackles were coming in from both sets of players. That's what happens when you put a violent gobshite in as assistant manager.

Fractionally late tackle and not even a sending off in my book. Well done to Taylor on resurrecting his career,. On merit he's currently in the squad if not the team.

Reading this it seems that he told Giggs that he wasn’t available for selection unless we were very short. If so, I didn’t know that, I thought he just wasn’t being selected.

That is fantastic news. There are not many other Welshmen with more passion and enthusiasm for the game, than Ty.

Looking good. I've always thought he's had potential managerial qualities about him.
I'm surprised to read that Boaz Myhill is involved with the set up too. Especially considering he threw his toys out of the pram when Wayne came back into the fold.

He's managed his image well from retirement statement onwards*. Not sure if that makes him a good coach/manager but if playing the media game is what Nathan Jones struggles with, then Neil Taylor is miles ahead in this one metric so far.
*not for a minute suggesting it's not genuinely who he is. Talking about outcome only rather than why it's happening.
Boaz Myhill has been involved in coaching for period of time now as far as I'm aware. Think Lewis Price was doing some coaching with youth sides as well.
