I don't think any player should be adopting a position of considering they are wasting their time by playing for their country? If they think that we don't want them - no matter how good.

Because of the first seven words of that post. His knees are shot. But he plays for Cardiff, so why not us? I'm missing the connection.

I reiterate that bellers needs to state whether he is in or not - at least he can then be added to the list of quitters/wallet watchers

God what a total c**t that Tucker guy is. Total disdain for international football- yet you know that should we qualify at some future point that prick will be abusing his press credentials to jam his ass into the first seat on the plane.

Totally agree storm. He is a prize prick. Seen a few interviews with him and he is an arrogant tosser.

Yes, read and seen this Tucker character before, bit like his mate Abbo although probably worse - avoid reading their articles and avoid the WM in general. Their intention is to wind people up, nothing of value to be gained here!

Note the publication name at the top of the article - South Wales Echo - he's been asked to write this for a Cardiff City audience.
Article ignores the fact that we'd have a considerably better chance of beating Scotland with Bellamy in the side. Bellamy's absence from the opening matches is part of the reason we're in the position we are.
The sad fact is that because of injuries, suspensions and other issues, Craig has usually played in no more than 60 per cent of our qualifying matches. Wales just need to get him on the pitch when available. He could still help us in this campaign. Even if it's just beating the Scots at Hampden and stopping our slide back down the world rankings. At the very least we need to perform against Scotland and Macedonia and stop ourselves getting another low seeding for the Euros.

Steve Tucker: "Bellamy's commitment down the years to helping his country qualify for a major tournament". Assuming Bellamy misses Scotland and Croatia, he will have played in 10 of Wales last 24 qualifying matches. That's around 60 per cent of qualifiers when he wasn't available.
Steve Tucker: "Bellamy was the first guy on the plane". Except he didn't get on the plane to Moscow in 2003, Warsaw and Belfast in 2005, Frankfurt in 2007, Moscow in 2008, Baku in 2009, Vaduz in 2009, Basel in 2010 or Novi Sad in 2012.

basically bellamy is still desparate to play for wales but he is not going to waste his time playing for wales under coleman as he wants to be successful. does that clear it up for you? he would of retired years ago if it was welsh success that was keeping him going he played under toshack and they had a strained relationship so i dont see why he wouldnt turn up under coleman i just think that with his knees, marital troubles and speeds passing it might be just too much for him,hes been a great servant over the years,i dont grudge the guy a retirement, hes played when many would have pulled out. but its only fair he tells coleman of his intentions

I would rather he played a few more games for us before he retired, it would be a shame if he ends his international career under a cloud after pulling out of successive squads after playing in the olympics against many fans wishes.

yeah id like to see him go out on a high,he deserves that much
everything now seems like a bit of a swansong for him, moving back to cardiff and i doubt a younger hungrier bellamy with a belief that wales would qualify for a tournament would have played in the olympic team,it was his final shot at a tournament (not a major tournament)

The Olympics bollocks was unwelcome, but perhaps understandable....but to top it off with this indecision going into the World cup qualifiers.... He is one of our top players and its hard to plan for the future if we don't know if he is in or out. If he had retired after Speed's passing we could have already fast tracked Williams into the setup in replacement. As it is it feels like Bellamy is mucking us about now, all but retired but not decent enough to come out and admit it and so the situation drags on.

Up until the last sentence, since I'm sure Coleman knows the entire situation already. Unless he's bat-shit crazy.

I'm not sure bellamy knows what he's doing nevermind coleman, why would a manager call up a player who he knows isn't going to turn up?makes no sense to me...either way he needs to make a decision, sooner the better

I can't fault Craig Bellamy's commitment in turning up for Wales friendlies and in being totally committed in every single game he plays for us. But if you look at Wales qualifiers, he's always missed matches during a campaign, whether through injury or suspension.
Qualifiers missed by Bellamy in last decade: 23. Euro 2004: 4 WC 2006: 4 Euro 2008: 3 WC 2010: 5 Euro 2012: 3 WC 2014: 4 (so far)
If he does decide to carry on, I think we just need to make the most of him when he's available, as we've done in previous qualifying campaigns.
