However he said nothing during that episode and has said nothing during this one. All the rumour and conjecture is allowed to build up and he leaves it to City staff to pontificate on it. He's never usually slow to share his opinion on something with anyone who will listen Whatever he thinks of Coleman, the national side deserves better

I dont see its fair to knock Bellamy's commitment when you consider most Wales players of his generation quit on us years ago. Ive never liked him much but he's not a player you can accuse of not giving his all and playing with passion whoever he's playing for.
Its just grating that you can never count on him these days as the last couple of years there's just an endless string of stories about how he's considering his future and might decide to retire. So far he still hasn't but its getting quite tiresome and you just wish - and Chris Coleman I'm sure wishes - he'd stop messing everyone around. What's he got to lose by playing a couple more years anyway, is Championship football really fulfilling all his needs?

What's he got to lose by playing a couple more years anyway, is Championship football really fulfilling all his needs? You have given some great reasons of exactly why it's fair to knock him. He deserves LESS criticism than the Simon Davies and Jason Koumas' of this world, but he still deserves criticism none the less for his descent into diva-ish behaviour in the last couple of years. Since Toshack left he has let Wales down a fair bit- he wasn't interested in playing for Flynn and face the double header a miss. Then he was back again to play for his mate Speed. Coleman however, does not appear to be Bellamys mate and he can't be arsed again. When you throw into the mix how he turned out for team fb and played for that fucking Moron Pearce without complaint I have to say that Bellamys conduct means he deserves any stick he gets. I'm sure if he had retired when Tosh left he would have gone with our best wishes, for the most part. He gave his all in a dark period for Welsh football and his long term injury problems would have made retirement understandable in light of his previous good service. He has let us down since that time and he has to take responsibility for not nipping this in the bud.

Of course he is, be interesting to see if he starts (which he will do). Not too injured to play some part in Croatia? Most likely not. Just wish he would come out and admit that his love for international football is conditional on the manager. If Hughes does make a return we won't have seen the last of Bellamy in a Wales shirt.

I've got alot of time for Bellamy. I remember when the U21s had that big game against France and he turned up to give them a talk in the dressing room. He obviously cares about Welsh football. I remember in his West Ham and early Man City days he was injured for his clubs all the time. The missed qualifiers were almost always for genuine reasons.
I'd like to see him see ouf this campaign ideally, on the understanding we can't rely on him anymore and he will be unfit alot of the time. If he can come off the bench and do 20 mins i'd still have him in the squad on that basis.

Yeah but.......if Hughes does return, that would only be as a result of Coleman getting sacked, which in turn will be as a result of us being out off this qualifying campaign (i.e. getting very little or nothing form these two games)- in which case would Bellamy really come back and play a campaign (even for Hughes) if we had absolutely no chance of qualifying? And if he did would it even matter to us seeing as though he would be to old for the next campaign? This is why if Coleman was going to go, it should have been done after the Serbia game

After playing for England in the olympics and not even playing one game for Wales since then, as much as I liked him he can fuck right off and stop messing us about.

I wonder if Jari Litmanen liked all of his Finland managers? Probably not, but then again he is a proper patriot (not to mention infinitely superior football player).

I do find it galling that Bellamy was fit for all 4 team England games in the olympics and then hasn't been fit for our first 4 (infintely more important) world cup qaulifiers..

He was pretty tasty in the olympics as well to be fair. I was just starting to find his mouthiness quite endearing.
Every Wales player these days seem to quit on us before Wales quit on them, but Bellamy would be less premature than most if he did. Its just the dithering thats quite exasperating. I always felt our hopes of competing this time round in the group would live or die with whether Bellamy turned up and whether Collins could get his act together at the back. If Bellars isnt turning up then I guess its another 'building for the future' phase which would make it easier to swallow at least if we keep losing.
He was pretty shit hot in that GB shirt though guys you have to admit!

I dont see its fair to knock Bellamy's commitment when you consider most Wales players of his generation quit on us years ago. What are we talking about here though? His past or current commitment? Yes, he chartered his own plane, gave team talks to the kids, travelled when unable to play.....but that was all in the last 10 years. I'm sure he remains committed to Wales, but as committed as he once was? Hmmm....

Agreed. Tbh, I knew this was coming from Craig - but frankly his silence this week on Wales - has been deafening. Coleman said last week that he would be waiting for a call from Bellamy last Sunday - and I hope Craig had the dignity to call him and explain his current stance - like Llannerch said, whether he likes Coleman or not - the National side deserves better.

Yes players like Jari Litmanen blow out of the water any of our pampered pussies excuses for not taking international football seriously. The thing about Litmanen is that he had a high profile club career that he managed to balance with his commitment to Finland, he wasn't just a lower league nobody whose career highlight was the occasional top level international match.

Yeah, like Sami Hyypia [ironically enough - again, another ex Finland player!] second highest capped Finnish player behind Litmanen.

Coleman needs to call up Bellamy for Tuesday, we need him to replace Ramsey.
If he declines and then plays for Cardiff on Saturday we should forget all about him.

I wonder if he declined to be involved because he thought we would be out by Tuesday? Last night was two fingers up to Bellamy, we obviously can't afford to lose players like him, but on the flip side why should he walk back in because we are still in with a shout? Let him concentrate on his club football if he dislikes the manager so much, the players on the pitch last night showed their commitment to the cause so the same players should be allowed to see the job through, for better or worse.

Well the players played for Coleman last night (so I am enjoying my humble pie today!) - although with 10 minutes to go I was still hoping and thinking that we are just not tournament savvy and badly lacking a top class striker - nothing we didn't know.
Well done Baxter, Muaythai and Welshiron on their score predictions.
Bellamy should hang his head in shame watching the rest of the team last night.

Cheers mate, i disagree that kanu wouldnt cause problems he is a pacy winger who works hard, he did well when he came on could be an unkown package against Croatia and could work in our favour..
