The die is cast. It's going to be a bit of a roller coaster (when isn't it?) but it could well be exhilarating with Bellamy in charge.
Based on what I've read I expect us to press high up the pitch when out of possession - and we have the players to do that. In possession we will look after the ball. The big question for me is whether we build very slowly and carefully from the back, which could be tedious, or do we play with a high tempo, looking to get the ball forward as soon as possible? I suspect it will be the latter, which could be fun.

This is from early on in Burnley's Championship winning season:
"We want to win but we want to dominate," said Bellamy of the ethos under Kompany. "It is the way we are, we want to dominate you so (the opposition) come off the pitch and haven't been able to match our running because the high intensity is too much. So far this season, no-one has got near us running wise and if we can keep that up it would be great. It is also about winning duels, second and third balls, a high line.
"We expect players to have a high intensity and a huge volume as well. People will look at our possession as the highest in the league but you have to run hard to keep possession. People feel it is just keeping the ball but it is not. You have to create angles, sprint to make the pitch as big as possible and then rotate and find pockets and can build through the lines. The way we want to dominate, we are quite relentless on that."

I think who he chooses to work alongside will be interesting, maybe an experienced old head, but no doubt he is his own man and won't be afraid to make decisions, and I would expect there to be more disciplined performances.

Welcome back to the fold Craig.
Excited to see what style of play he implements.

Good decision. A rollercoaster and exciting times ahead I'm sure. Good luck to him. He's going to have to try and get far more from Brennan Johnson's performances for us for starters, no more freewheeling through games.

Another four year contract awarded - is that wise?

I for one will reserve judgment until after 19 November 2024 - the home match vs Iceland (Nations League, matchday 6 of 6). Best of luck to Craig all the same!

Another four year contract awarded - is that wise? Umm, I know it wasn't appreciated as a phrase, but we are in a period of transition. Might have an impact on length of contract. Edit: of course teams are almost always in period of transition, large or small, and need to find results alongside this.

Not sure this can be replicated by us at international level as we have a lot of players not playing regularly and their clubs will ultimately be responsible for their fitness.

Do you think Michael Sheen will be involved with his sugar thing !! Can’t see Bellers agreeing to that type of thing !!

But we have a number of players who are well suited to a high pressing game, especially Dan James, Neco and Roberts. Johnson should be able to do it, if he can be motivated to put in the hard yards. However, in general international football requires a lot of compromises given the diversity of skillsets that players bring, and the limited time available to coach them. But at least there's a sense of what Bellamy will try and achieve and I think there's much to be encouraged by.

It will be interesting to see whether Bellamy insists on an all in or nothing approach, or whether he's more flexible than Page was when it comes to calling on the services of "retired" players, such as Allen, in an emergency.

That's a good point about needing to compromise at international level, certainly for Wales, given the range of ability - something Bellamy will get but perhaps would have taken Henry a while to appreciate. Hopefully he can convince Johnson to be a talisman

I am looking forward to finding out who might be in his backroom staff.
Funny isn't it, I was desperate for news regarding who the manager is and I'm already desperate for next chunk of news.
Edit: not forgetting who the Rob Edwards replacement will be too. Plenty of appointments still to manage.

Do we have the centre backs for a high press? I think so - Rodon is pretty swift, Mepham isn't the slowest either, while Ben Davies impressed in Pochettino's kamikaze high press for the couple of months he played centre back last season.

My predictions for Bellamy reign:
- Ramsey makes a hastily arranged retirement from International football and makes it clear that his retirement is in no way linked to Bellamy being appointed as Manager. - Over the August bank holiday weekend Bellamy drafts a 23,000 word document detailing how the Football Association of Wales needs to be overhauled. The epoch making document, later becomes known as 'The Bellamy Way'. - Bellamy embarks on a tour of the UK visiting every U15 and above Welsh qualified player and any player where it is rumoured that they might have a Welsh Nan. - Johnson is substituted at half time after a poor showing at Montenegro away. He then goes onto to develop a series of niggles just before the start of the international breaks. - Following a 5-1 drubbing at Türkiye away and during a challenging interview live on Swansea Sound, Bellamy is heard muttering off-mic 'fcukin' Jack bastard' interviewer. - Bellamy has a bare knuckle fight with Kieffer. Many years later, Kieffer will go on to describe the incident in his autobiography and calls Bellers "the best manager that I ever worked for". - Wales qualify for the World Cup 2026 top of the group with a game to spare. - When Brazilian born and dual-qualified brothers, Lewis & Rhodri Dos Santos sign for Barcelona they describe that they chose Wales over Brazil or Portugal due to the passion that Bellamy showed about Wales as impressionable 14 year olds. - Despite Wales qualifying for a succession of tournaments, a section of Wales fans continue to argue that Bellamy rode on the coat tails of the work that Page was putting in place whilst we were 'in transition'.

On his appointment, Bellamy said: “It’s an incredible honour for me to be given the opportunity to lead my country and it’s the proudest moment of my career. It was always my ultimate dream to become the Cymru Head Coach and I am ready for the challenge.
Nice touch referring to the position as Cymru Head Coach. He gets it.

He's already stated he'd come out of retirement if asked........ It's common knowledge that Page made little effort to persuade him to carry on.

I think it's very unlikely Bellamy will call on Allen given he's 34 and the World Cup campaign is some way away. However, I'm more interested in his approach in general as compared to Page. Ramsey and Hennessey may retire soon so the question will arise with them too at that point. I just hope our supine Welsh media at least ask the question of Bellamy.
