Why have Rangers made him available? I thought he was meant to be doing really well up there?

Welcome back to Wales Declan! Will be great to see him and Conor Roberts play together on a regular basis.

Nice to see the Swans investing in Welsh players! Will have a big challenge up against Olsson.

Great to see him sign for Swansea. I can’t help but think he’s holding that Swansea shirt how I imagine a Cardiff fan would hold a Swansea shirt 😂 give us a smile and hold it up proudly.

He looks delighted He looks like he's lost a bet with his mates and is thinking "There, I'm holding it! Happy now?"

Back in the starting 11 today and played well. Could do with more game time if he's going to get in the squad come March.

That said, the reports I am reading suggest that Neil Taylor had another excellent showing today for the Villa - so we certainly have options there ;-)

Yet another good first half from Declan. Loads of energy down the left. Its looking like a tight call between him and Neil Taylor, with Neil getting a fair amount of play time recently.
EDIT
Sadly, Declan took a wak to the ankle after 53' and needed to go off ;-(

Declan John has done well the last couple of games and seems to have got his fitness up to speed.
Shame he had a knock today

Was having another good game and deserved an extended run in the side. Can put in some great crosses and has been one of Swansea's main offensive threats when he's played.
Hopefully he'll be back soon. Still only 23.
On a side note Rodon's replacement Carter-Vickers has been superb and hasn't put a foot wrong. Can't see Joe getting straight back in.

Surprised he has made the squad given the poor season he has had.
Personally think he is a decent player but doesn't really have a position.
Not good enough defensively to play left back not quite good enough offensively to be a winger.
Probably best suited as a wing back in a back 5 and I think Giggs might be planning to play this system.
Wouldn't be a starter for me any time soon in qualifiers.

This is true he can only play in a back 5 unfortunately. I had high hopes for him when he was a youngster at club and international level

John played well out in China - however in a game where he had practically no defending to do. He's had a couple of decent games for Swansea - but as in the China game, those games were against weak opposition where Swansea bossed proceedings. He has decent credentials as an attacking full-back against weak opponents - but I'm not sure any of our opponents in qualifying are so bad that our full-backs can afford to neglect the defensive side of their games.

Would just like to see him have a full season under his belt. Hasn't managed to do it wherever he's been on loan
Swans have such a great record of improving Welsh players, but he's not managed to make the cut there

It really is a joke that the English pyramid clubs don’t use it, particularly Cardiff and Swansea. Ridiculous really, I recall that Cardiff couldn’t even muster a ‘Nadolig Llawen’ a couple weeks back. Embarrassing.
The Cymru account is excellent at doing it though, chwarae teg.

Bothers me that Cardiff, a city where 25% of the population speak Welsh, don't use any at all. Furthermore, on twitter I can see Cymraeg Man United fan accounts, but I can't see one for Cardiff

He's been on fire at Bolton. They're undefeated since he signed, winning 9 of their 11 games in that time and climbing up the table to the playoff places, and John's scored a couple of goals too. Bolton fans are raving about him, and are attributing their change in fortunes partly to him arriving (they were in the bottom half and on a 6 match winless run before he came).
Given our lack of options at LB/LWB, and the precedent set by calling up Sheehan from League Two recently, could he be a dark horse for a call up?

Given our lack of options at LB/LWB, and the precedent set by calling up Sheehan from League Two recently, could he be a dark horse for a call up? Maybe, probably not for this next one. But looking on wiki at his career the most striking thing is that wherever he's played he hasn't had a full season under his belt. If he gets a full season at Bolton with this form he may earn himself a spot in a higher division & then he can certainly make a case for himself When I was younger my team mate earned a call up to Wales U16s and won a couple of caps. I asked him who the best player in the camp was, he said Declan John without hesitating. Said he was a level above everyone else. Few years later Dec was playing in the Premier League for Cardiff - hope he can actualise some of that potential

We have a few options ahead of him I'd assume unless they're injured Ben Davies and RND the obvious two Then you have the likes of Andrew Hughes (never had a cap), Morgan Fox, Neil Taylor On top of that the likes of James Lawrence, Connor Roberts/Neco could probably fill in there worse come to worse. I think we'll see Sheehan again if able to secure a move or if he's able to get promoted with Newport. But the planets aligned for him when we last called him up with the likes of Levitt, Smith and Morrell as other centre mids. I don't want to down play Sheehan, think he's absolutely top draw player

John's been very impressive despite looking rusty in his first few games. One of the reasons Bolton are doing well is that teams are doubling up on him because he looks such a threat and creating so much space for other players. I don't know about an international return but he's far too good to stay at this level. Recently we've been starting with Declan, Gethin Jones (scored the only goal yesterday), and MJ (Jordan) Williams, with LLoyd Isgrove coming off the bench. Can't remember when we had so many Welsh players regularly featuring at Bolton. Williams is becoming a fan favourite too, 25 now so probably too late for him, but playing impressively as a midfield enforcer these days.
