John's been very impressive despite looking rusty in his first few games. One of the reasons Bolton are doing well is that teams are doubling up on him because he looks such a threat and creating so much space for other players. I don't know about an international return but he's far too good to stay at this level. Recently we've been starting with Declan, Gethin Jones (scored the only goal yesterday), and MJ (Jordan) Williams, with LLoyd Isgrove coming off the bench. Can't remember when we had so many Welsh players regularly featuring at Bolton. Williams is becoming a fan favourite too, 25 now so probably too late for him, but playing impressively as a midfield enforcer these days. Interesting comments on Williams, sounds like just the type of player we need! It might not be too late for him if he can go up another couple of levels in the next 2-3 years

Williams is another player who's career has been punctuated by injuries at the wrong time. His development is probably a couple of seasons behind where he should be. I'd argue Bolton's fortunes turned around on his arrival as much as John's. He's got a good pedigree and a physical presence, his range of distribution is impressive for a defensive mid. It's difficult to judge from such a short snapshot at this level, but he could potentially do a job for us. He needs a run of games at any level. I hope he stays at Bolton, if not his next move is make or break for him.

Declan always had talent, but it was his defensive side that let him down.
Getting thrown in at the deep end in the Premier League may not have been the best thing for him career wise

I think LWB is his best position, but agree he has always needed to improve his defending

Scored today, his 4th goal of the season. Having a decent season at Bolton, also had 6 assists.

Been on the bench recently, one that could sneak in to some squads for euro 2024 qualifiers

2 assists so far tonight. Playing LWB.

Looked good tonight, the only one of the starting back five not to score but two assists as stated. Really bizarre character, disappeared for half a season after being being unplayable for much of last. Now his reappearance coincides with Bolton's best run of the season.
BTW MJ currently injured, but the whole remaining Welsh Wanderers on the pitch tonight. Sheehan and Isgrove came on to continue their rehabilitation after long term injuries, was particularly impressed with Isgrove when he came on, replacing Jones as RWB.

Would rather us play John than shoehorn in a winger as a LWB
