This lad could have a big part to play in the double header. Wouldn't be surprised if he plays the full 90 out in Baku. Joe Morrell - from Margate to Modric: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50372765

Good story, hope he goes on to be a useful player for us for years to come.

How good was this man tonight? Motm? Easily for me. Him and Kieffer. Ampadu was also quality apart from his yellow card (s)

Said after the Belarus match he was going to be a tidy player, some not convinced though......

Very decent match. Although I would put Kieffer and Harry ahead of him today in ratings, but only just ;-)

Thought he was excellent. And with a bit more confidence he could have been even better.
A few times he took on a man in midfield and almost seemed surprised himself to have found the time and space he had.
Definitely plenty of room for growth, I really like him.

I was shocked how well he played. He always seemed to have lots of time on the ball (always a good sign), linked up play well and unlike many, he always quickly gets himself in a forward direction to pass the ball forward. He also has a good shot on him by the looks of it! He was the best player for me.
As many have said 'it was only Azerbajan' and the fact he is playing at such a low level at 22 (he is 23 in January) tells you he has his limitations / is not an exceptional player. Howvever, if he can be effective for us when needed like that then it can only be excellent for the strength in depth in the squad.
PS - His height is stated as 6ft 1in on Wiki. Thats obviously very wrong!

Just because Morrell is currently on loan at that level doesn't mean that he won't go on to be an exceptional player, players peak at different ages.

Is there any talk at Bristol City to bring him back in January?

DJ had his senior Wales call up a few weeks before he turned 21 (but didn't play, should've been left with the u21s), after half a dozen Swansea performances. Also didn't play a proper League One game while at Shrewsbury.

Different players develop at different ages, and if he can keep playing like that then I'd be very surprised if he wasn't playing in the Championship next season, whether it be at Bristol City or another club.

Josh Sheehan is another player that will climb the ladder. Never watched him, is he doing well at County? Yeah he’s been very good whenever I’ve seen him play, a couple of County fans I know have told me he’s been one of their best players this season. He’s another Morrell/Smith kind of player, tidy on the ball, and he has a good range of passing too! One to keep an eye out for.

Is there any talk at Bristol City to bring him back in January? I’d day it was unlikely, he’d be 5th, maybe 6th choice as it stands. Injuries and/or transfers may change that though

Seems the obvious replacement for Ampadu if we're winning.

Goal and assist for Euros bound Joe tonight. Was only Bolton, mind. Aaron Lewis on for a late cameo. New 18 month contract with them the other day. Hopefully gets a chance to push on now they've decided to pay him.

At nearly 23 he needs to either break through at Bristol City or move to a championship club. He made his debut for the first team at 16 that was 7 years ago!

Guaranteed to go (if the Euros happen) with today's news. I think he was on the plane anyway, but I agree it's certain now, and this could push him towards a place in the starting 11 too.
