Joe being linked with a move to Luton Backwards step. Hasn't he been injured pretty much up until the Wales games? Baffled if Bristol City let him leave. From what I've read their fans expected him to be an integral part of their side.

Yeah, they already had Massengo, Nagy & Bakinson (who they actually signed from the Luton youth team in a weird circle of life kind of way). Then they signed Joe Williams from Wigan who was one of Wigan's best players and had both Morrell and Liam Walsh (who won Coventry's POTY last season) coming back from loan.
At the end of the day, he appears to be the one at the back of the queue (possibly purely because his pre-season injury allowed others to leapfrog him). Heading to Luton, he gets to stay in the division and would be the most natural back-up for Glenn Rea at DM and probably a better option if Luton were ever involved in a game they wanted to dominate (i.e. Wycombe, Rotherham etc.), plus he uses the ball better between boxes than our two CM's, albeit he won't get into final 3rd as well.

Just another Welsh player not getting the opportunities.
At least it's a positive move in the sense he should get plenty of game for Luton.

Credit where it's due, that's a hell of a signing for Luton.
Good luck to him. I feel Bristol City will come to regret this.

Think it was because they are overloaded in midfield, including Tyreeq Bakinson (who was on loan at Newport previously) who they signed from us when he was 15/16. I think with Bakinson now in their 1st team, he is close to hitting appearance add-ons and we said we would write them off as part of a deal and obviously it's Morrell that we wanted. I think the value of the transfer is rumoured to be in the region of £1m but I think we are only paying about £200k with the rest being the writing off of add-on's and sell-on clauses (for mainly Bakinson but possibly Kaylen Hinds as well).

Fantastic bit of business. Enjoyed watching the few games I have this season to watch the Welsh players. Entertaining side to watch & you're looking like you're going to have a good season. Some clubs seem to clock on to the fact that Welsh players are a great market to tap into; they get exposed to international football at a young age, have good character, good ability, and cost a fraction of the amount an equivalent English player would. Charlton last year & Derby previously examples of this. Looks like Luton are going to be my second side this season!

How is it? He's 22/23 and Bristol have played him once or twice. Get the hell out of there asap. From what I read at the start of the season from a number of their fans they expected him to play a big part in what looks a better team than Luton on the whole and I believe he has enough ability to establish a first team place there, so yes, it is a step backwards to sign for a side who are one of the bookies favourites to spend the season battling relegation. That being said, I'm pleased for him that the move has gone through and it should be easy for him to integrate into their side with other new boys Lockyer and Norrington-Davies settling in already. It will certainly help us in the short term having him play regular football. Hopefully he can impress there and get an even bigger move. It will have been a case of one step back and two steps forward then which sometimes footballers have to go through.

I don't care if they sign Bale, Ramsey & Joniesta, you will never hear me utter those words!

I live near Bristol and and have been speaking to a few fans and they all listed quite a feW midfielders ahead of Joe in the pecking order so could see why he was sold.
Despite not knowing anything about the players mentioned and based on absolutely nothing at all, I decided that Morrell is better then them and they’ve made a mistake, haha.

I don't care if they sign Bale, Ramsey & Joniesta, you will never hear me utter those words! it was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but i always keep an eye out on teams with welsh boys in and i want them to do well. TL, RND and JM as well as nathan jones as manager. if luton are doing well it means these boys (if they are playing) are doing well which is good for wales.

On for the last half hour live on Sky.
Made a big difference to their play, keeping possession and moving the team forward as we’ve come to expect from him.

Pretty annoyed Swansea didn't sign him rather than Corey Smith - with the latter being much older and no doubt on a bigger wage and no sell-on value. Illustrates how Cooper isn't a true Swansea Way manager.

Top marks for Joe this campaign. He was a bit of an unknown quantity prior to the previous qualifiers, and considering he is one of our lesser 'hyped' player, he's done incredible. Imo, he's matched Ampadu for performances in that midfield role.

An excellent little player who goes unnoticed because he isn't particularly flashy
Sounds like a certain Stoke midfielder

I mentioned on twitter that Morrell will be a better player than Allen in the future and everybody laughed! - Joe Allen is a huge player for us has been for the last 6 years when he took off but it is taking Morrell less time than that after just 12 caps to make an impact on matches - a year to tonight he played his part in the famous win against Hungary to secure qualification for Euro 2020 by starting that game - a lot of fans thought "what?" he bosses that midfield and will play for a top Premier League side in the near future no doubt. - the famous 3 JOE's (Ledley, Allen & Morrell) ALL heroes!!!!

I liked Morrell from the start, and he has that similar Joe Allen tenacity. I think I've said a few times he's better than Ampadu in that midfield role! However there's no way he's becoming a better player than Allen!

There's no reason he can't reach Allen's levels. Allen is a player who suits international football down to the ground & has great experience behind him, but hasn't astounded at club level. Morrell is getting that experience now and has very similar qualities. If he does find his way up to the top of the Championship or Premier League he could match or surpass Allen

If he does find his way up to the top of the Championship or Premier League he could match or surpass Allen I wouldn't rule it out because of his age, but I think Allen has been a class player from a very young age, and I don't see Morrell as being quite at his level. The impact of injuries and fate have given some the false impression that Allen's not as good as he is. Even so he had 4 seasons at Liverpool. I'm not convinced Morrell will quite hit those heights, but he may come fairly close. I'd love to be proven wrong though

Think the 5 subs rule being reintroduced into the Championship is HUGE for Morrell's game-time aspirations given how Jones operates.

Hopefully his cameo as the only decent performance against Cardiff yesterday might see him and NJ get over whatever issue they seem to have.
