Well done Newport County. You put us through a roller coaster today and won me £100 with the winning goal. Any bets on the Belgrade match? Be spending that on pompeys champions celebration

We've retained most of the squad that was poor for the majority of the season.
But somehow I feel confident of a mid table finish next season.

I only went down to a few games at the end of the season, but i was surprised Newport were fighting relegation, they got a decent squad of players now, and played far better than when i had previously seen them over the last few years. Good luck to them next season, hope they can move forward and grow. Whats happening with the ground with the WRU taking over Dragons? Be great for Newport to have their own stadium, where the pitch doesnt get in such a state (really doesnt help county).

O'Brien is staying.
The WRU will take control of RP in July. Probably too late to relay the pitch, but I'm not sure tbh.

I was talking to someone regarding the rugby, he was saying there has been some significant investment in the rugby "club" and a brand new pitch has been laid and will be ready to go in the near future. He also suspected that money would have to be invested into the infrastructure on site. With 3 teams using the ground, the pitch is going to take a bit of hammering so the ground staff have their work ct out. I hope Newport have a really good season as it's good for Welsh football.

Great to see Newport start so well, hopefully can kick on from here, with a decent pitch (at the moment).

Believe it or not against Leeds it was only poor finishing that kept Leeds in the game. Sounds daft considering we lost 5-1. We opened them up 4 or 5 times before half time and a few more times at 1-1 and 2-1 down. But we fell apart in the last 15 minutes completely. David Pipe got ripped a new one in those last 15 minutes. You can have a laugh as we lost 5-1 but there wasn't 4 goals between the teams. Nouble has been unplayable and scored a wonder goal against Chesterfield. I hope it all lasts a bit longer

Newport County: Next two months could define season, says manager Flynn www.bbc.com/sport/football/42270812Newport County's season could be defined by their results between now and the end of January, says manager Michael Flynn. The Exiles are two points outside the top seven in League Two and face a run of games against teams around them in the table, starting at home to Carlisle on Saturday. "It is a huge two months," Flynn told BBC Sport Wales. "The end of January will give us a rough reflection of where we are." And he added: "If we go and win eight in a row then we're going to be in some position, but if we go and lose eight in a row it will be difficult." A year ago Newport were bottom of the Football League and in the middle of an eight-match losing run. After remarkably saving their League Two status in the final game of last season, Exiles have become unlikely promotion contenders this term. "We've got a tough period now," said Flynn. "We have six league games [against teams] all there or thereabouts around the play-offs and it's a test of our character and our ability. "You look at it we've got Carlisle, Cambridge, Lincoln, Wycombe and then Cheltenham away isn't too far off. "Then we've got Exeter so all of them are easily around about the play-offs so it's a tough run." The club have also got an FA Cup third round date with Leeds to look forward to in January, but Flynn has banned talk of that game until after the festive period as they look to consolidate their position in the table. "I'd much rather be in this position now than where we were this time last year," he said.

Cracking match at Rodney Parade today by the sound of it, proper ding dong 3-3 against Carlisle. Anyone at the game?
There’s a cameo from Flynn in the latest Elis James podcast, well worth a listen as always. They talk a lot about Newport’s great escape last season, Elis describing it as ‘probably the best ever.’ It’s certainly up there.

Potential (former) giant killing on the cards at Rodney Parade live on BBC Wales. Could be a cracker.
Local boy Pipe starts, Josh Sheehan on the bench.

Well done Newport. Thoroughly deserved win on the day.
No reports of trouble so far.
The last comment was in relation to reports to items being thrown on the pitch in recent home games. Was listening to the match on the radio and when they said the game was stopped after the winning goal with the referee talking to his assistant I teared the worst. Fortunately I was wrong, it was for the sending off.

Binned several of my posts and the responses that crossed the forum's guidelines. Brought a bit of respite from the all the Giggs back n fore anyway. Yeah chwarae teg Newport. Played with real heart in a proper cup tie. Shame Sheehan wasn’t involved but I’m sure he will be in their push for the playoffs.

Superb performance and result for Newport. Hopefully get a big away day to Old Trafford, Anfield or the Emirates and make some money out of the run. Great stuff!
