Scored just now for Newcastle, but more importantly came on at centre back.
This could be an absolute boon for us - without question he should be capped against Finland.
Then we've got Williams/Collins/Dummett/Gabbs/Gunter/Ricketts going into next campaign, which suddenly looks massively more healthy than a few weeks ago when you could take Collins and Dummett out of the equation...

Are you sure he'll play for us? He pulled out of the last 2 matches with an injury - bit strange when he has been a sub all season and comes back straight after the break. England seem to be obsessed with any young player playing for another international team, no matter how limited they may be.

To be fair he's a Geordie so will always want to play for England if he has a chance. Just a bit annoying that England's approach is to hold players back when they know there is no way that players like him, Shawcross, Turner, etc will ever be playing more than a token game for them.

I'd suggest that someone tweets Osian just to make sure this opinion is conveyed.

He said in some paper the other week how amazing it was to train with Bale, Ramsey, Bellamy.
Fantastic news if he does stick with us, desperate for CBs at the moment.

twitter.com/PaulDummett Twitter background is him training with Gareth Bale with Wales. It would be really cheeky if England gave him a call up

No reason to suggest he would defect, none at all. However it's probably prudent to make sure he's involved against Finland.

This is why it was important to cap Harry Wilson this week, we don't really want to be having these conversations all the time. Trouble is that Dummett wont be tied to us until Sept/oct next year.
Unfortunately, my gut feeling is that England have turned his head.

How does he qualify for us? Parent or Grandparent?

No reason to defect? He's English.
I think he has a Welsh dad, don't take my word for it.

It's difficult because he is English, was raised in England, is a Newcastle product and so on.
However no reason to think he'll switch, considering he's got that twitter picture of him with Bale. I mean, you can't really promote that and then switch and get away with it.
Hopefully conversations will be had with him.

The plus point is that he is over 21 now so they would have to select him for their senior side to pinch him off us.

It's not really about whether England are going to 'pinch' Dummett - I mean when was the last time England 'pinched' a player off us? The England setup couldn't give a monkeys about Dummett I wouldn't have thought, given how many more players they have to choose from. The issue is simply whether Dummett feels in any way Welsh, and whether he will feel comfortable making the choice to play for us.

Dummett could go the same way as those two.

Fair enough about Bond. But has Jones been picked for England at any level?
And I still think England don't give a monkeys about Dummett at this point.

Ben Davies, Neil Taylor, Paul Dummett and Declan John are all Premier League options at LB. Going into the Euros our options at CB are: A.Williams, J.Collins, D.Gabbidon, C.Gunter, P.Dummett, J.Wilson, S.Ricketts, L.Nyatanga, B.Davies. Options at LB: B.Davies, N.Taylor, P.Dummett, D.John, N.Eardley, R.Wiggins. Options at RB: A.Matthews, C.Gunter, J.Richards, S.Ricketts, N.Taylor, K.Freeman. Our defence is looking pretty solid, a lot of depth with full backs. Our CB is ok as long as we have Williams or Collins fit and available. I've probably missed some players out as well.

Eardley and Dummet are right backs, no?
We should be adding Lynch at CB - far better option than Wilson, Nyatanga and perhaps even Gunter and Ricketts.
Then there's Elliot Hewitt, Keeron Freeman and Adam Henley, although they are a million miles away from the squad right now.
As the last two games showed, we have good cover at fullbacks - not a position to be concerned about.
Keeping Collins in the side, and hopefully bringing Dummett in as cover at CB massively improves us in that position too.

I wouldn't personally count John and Dummett as premiership players yet.
John played 1 game and is no longer in the squad and Dummett has yet to start a game, however, he does appear to be the closer of the 2 and could be a regular by the time the next qualifiers start.
John will probably not get a look in at Cardiff as Mackay will always go for experience given the choice

Adam Henley wasn't convincing when asked if he will stick with Wales, I think he'd jump the ship to England or USA if the opportunity came by. I forgot about Lynch, certainly agree with you there. He can strike a ball pretty well too?

Yes Dummett is a left back and also plays at Centre back as he did in Newcastles last game
