Beating Switzerland is a huge ask, we are pretty sound at the back but I fear our inability to create chances could hurt us. We seem to only be able to finish from offside positions!
What a goal from Jess though, pure class. Another moment like that could be enough to carry us through.

Fishlock is pure class, a step ahead & above of everyone else on the pitch. Just like Bale, great players step up in the big games.

It’ll go down to the wire If Switzerland are any good then I can’t see it. Last night was an excruciating watch against what was supposed to be the weakest team. They would get into a good position then it would just fall apart with some really poor stuff in the final third: decision making, final ball, just really bad. I was sat there thinking that Dan James’s delivery would have been a big improvement! Well done to them for getting through but it’s hard to see them going any further I’m afraid. To be fair, the number of excellent chances we created was probably in the double digits. I remember thinking at 15mins that we had already created 3 golden chances whilst they had created 1 (their only big chance of the game), and the chances kept coming for us throughout the game (although not quite as rapidly). So it was more the finishing initially anyway. Fishlock should have bagged a goal or two in the first 15 minutes. That expected goals stat that always comes up now must have had us down for 4, 5 or 6. Should also point out that we've played very well against strong sides recently and deserved something in the couple of games against the Frensh. So it's certainly not outside the realms of possibility, although we definitely are massive underdogs

Switzerland are ranked 21st whereas Wales are 30th in th FIFA rankings. Good luck in Zurich.🤞

Interesting read here on how women have had to fight for recognition and support and how recent it all is. Players like Fishlock and Harding still remember the days where they had to rely on hand-me-downs from the men's team and had next to no professional coaching / physios behind them. It makes the team's progress over the last three campaigns all the more impressive. It also helps you realise why there are so many 12-0 thrashings in the women's game, because there are still lots of less progressive associations who treat the women's team the same way the FAW did back in the 90s and early 00s. www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/three-trailblazers-who-walked-office-25189886

It’s costing us a goal a game.

Seems a bit unfair that Scotland v Ireland's game kicks off 2 hours after the other games? Given that the 3 winners are vying to be the "two best"

Why is there a scenario where we might have to play more than one match again?! Just checked out the Swiss team record, not as great as I thought. I still think it's a massive ask to beat them away though, also saw they thumped Moldova 15-0 in their last match!

We'd be guaranteed to be 1st seed, as we are a much higher rank than the other teams:
38 Chinese Taipei (seed 2) 39 Chile (seed 3) 41 Thailand (seed 4) 49 Papua New Guinea 51 Paraguay 56 Haiti 57 Panama 59 Cameroon 84 Senegal
Therefore we'd be in 'Group A' which would mean a final against 1 of the Unseeded teams that win their semi final

Fair play, didn’t give them a prayer as they just haven’t looked capable of scoring recently, but having only just tuned in from what I’ve seen they look a bit more dangerous up front tonight

All these years watching I football I didn't even know that was a rule lol. How can the penalty taker not be offside in that situation?

I knew it was a rule but thought it was more to prohibit the penalty taker from playing the ball off the post to help them score. Either way the rule iirc is that another player has to touch the ball if it comes off the post before the penalty taker can touch it again. Good catch by the ref.

Also, why do they keep tearing their shirts off when they score? Even the male players don't do that anymore

I mean in a technical sense that it is possible that someone could do it and profit from it, not that it’s an actual game plan that someone would pull off repeatedly.

You can't take a free kick and then kick it again.(before someone else has touched it)

Absolutely gutted for them. Think the Swiss deserve it though…. Incredible effort. Hope they manage to take the positives out of this campaign and that the likes of Ingle and Fishlock have one more crack at the Euros.
