From what I can gather, it seems increasingly likely that Ray and Osian will be leading the new Project.
What's not so clear is who will be in charge. This is my biggest concern, as I think a joint Idea has the potential to be an absolute disaster. Has a joint setup ever been a success in football?
Based on what I know, or rather what I think I know, I'd go for Ray heading it up, with Osian as assistant. I'd rather the cool head to be there to advise the boss when we hit a speed bump, as opposed to the other way round.
On a side note: within this setup, I'd like to see Giggs offered an interview for a coaching role. How this played out would probably say a lot about Giggs.

If we are going to go down this road then it has to be Ray as manager with Osian as assistant for me. Joint managers is a hotchpotch- a recipe for disaster. My preference would be for Ray and Osian to stay where they are and keep doing what they've been doing, with Mark Hughes or Guus Hiddink brought in as manager.

Has a joint setup ever been a success in football? Two men jointly managed Coventry City to the FA Cup in 1987 - I forget what their names were. That's the only instance I can think of off the top of my head.

Interesting that Ray has hardly tweeted recently. Maybe he's on his best behaviour and trying to make sure he doesn't scupper his chances?

Sweden had a successful joint coach set up involving everyone's favourite Swede Lars Lagerback and Tommy Soderberg.
Oddly, no-one is suggesting Lagerback to take over now whereas it was remarkable he didn't get the job first time round. Where's Kerr's fanbase gone too?
Can't think of many other examples of joint coaches

Well, Lagerback was out of work before. He has a job now. Just like Hiddink was in a job before and is out of work now. Which means the FAW can spend the money on wages rather than compo.

Kerr's 'fanbase' was basically me. I haven't gone anywhere, I still think Kerr would be a decent choice, but feel if we could attract Hiddink or Hughes they would be the prime targets and if not, Verheijen might be a more likely left-field candidate than Kerr (not to mention being cheaper to hire).
Lagerback would have been a good choice when he was available, but as ff points out he is now managing Iceland. Presume the wealthy Icelandic FA offered him the megabucks we couldn't, then. Either that or, shock, horror, Abbandonato was talking shite when he said it would have cost £1m to hire his team.

Nah, Iceland should take a leaf out of Camerons book and stick two fingers up at them, let's see how the unionists handle that reversal.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16665571.stm" While Coleman is yet to speak to coach Raymond Verheijen, Roberts believes the Dutchman should be retained.
"I know what he brings to the team and what he means to the players," he said."" What I told Chris is that he has to ensure he gets the team perfect," said Roberts.
"I don't think Kit has the same strengths as Raymond. Who will have the expertise that Raymond brought to the table?
"If Raymond is not going to be there, who's going to do that work? If Kit is quite similar to me, sense tells you that he would take my role and Raymond stays."

What an unselfish thing to do. Absolute respect for Roberts. Rare that you see someone put the team before himself like that.

Great to hear roberts speak up - We really need to retain RV and Osian. All credit to speed if he listens now and keeps them on board. Fuck Symons, He's english anyway

Osian Roberts is a legend. Fair play like...I really hope Coleman keeps him and Verheijen on board, He seems really keen to get Kit Symonds on board so i really don't know whats going to happen to O.R and R.V. Hmmm...

Will he be staying on as a coach? And will he be in charge for Wednesday- picking the team and tactics etc- now that Verheijen has resigned?

Isn't he employed by the Welsh Football Trust & they pay his wages?

seems like a pointless exercise now as there's only roberts left of the original team.
Coleman should just take the reigns with osian as assistant. Its a perfect opportunity for coleman to get a win under his belt with the players being especially motivated to win this one for speed.

Anyone else slightly worried by the part in that article that states Coleman missed a scheduled press conference this week?
EDIT: I've re-read the article - it is, I suppose, possible that Coleman didn't think he was pencilled in to attend. Benefit of the doubt awarded.

Cytuno 100%. A thoroughly well put together series thus far. As someone who is critical of S4C for the way it prioritises rugby over football, I should acknowledge that what it has produced over the years e.g. this, Ben Davies, John Hartson, 2002-2004 campaign, Sgorio etc is of very good quality.

Osian comes across very well, as he always does. Very level headed, humble and intelligent. We're so lucky to have him.

Osian has done more for welsh football than we appreciate
The way they train coaches and the way they were brave enough to go to smaller pitches and teams for the youngsters, something those across the border have just started to implement.
Next step is summer football at least for the mini football, as this will allow them to train and play in weather that doesn't freeze them to the bones

I think it goes to show how brilliant a job Osian has done when you look at the ex-players etc that choose to take the FAW coaching programme.
Garry Monk, Sol Campbell and Patrice Viera took the UEFA Pro Licence course (I think) with the FAW last weekend.
Silly question coming up but, could Monk possibly be a future manager? Would he want the Welsh job?
