Don't blame him at all. The FAW snubbed him twice. Can't be expected to drop everything and come running now. Seems a slightly unnecessary dig this. On the first occasion it seemed to be Dutch Ray that was really pushing for it, and I think we can all agree that with hindsight Cookie proved to be a good appointment (you know, leading us to the best footballing / sporting moment in Welsh history and all that). Don't like to admit it, but Giggs did what he was appointed to do too, so that proved to be a good appointment. I personally think if Osian turned this down due to his bruised ego after not beating Coleman and Giggs to the post on the previous occasions, then it would reflect very poorly on his character. As it is, there's absolutely no indication of that being the case and I see no reason to doubt his statement, which essentially said he's really enjoying his time with Como and has made a commitment there which he wants to honour. But why did he feel the need to make a statement at all this time?

Osian Roberts is a bit of an enigma within Welsh Football.
Robert’s is obviously a talented coach, but I suspect he has left it too late in his career to make the transition into management. Traditionally older coaches or assistant managers that try and make the jump into management late in their careers always struggle. Roberts is almost 60 and it's pretty unheard of for someone that old to get their first managerial job in professional football (I know he 'technically' managed Como but I think he was more likely the assistant to Fabergas for administrative purposes).

To be fair, if he hadn’t made this statement this forum would be full of people criticising the FAW for not at least trying to get him.

I've yet to see convincing arguments for his appointment.

But why did he feel the need to make a statement at all this time? I don't see why it's an issue? I don't know how it's come about, but he was obviously very heavily linked, is a very passionate Welshman, and probably had lots of family, friends and people in the game in Wales who were encouraging him, so he may have felt it better just to come out with a public statement. It also helps the FAW because they won't be accused (for the most part) of snubbing the fans' choice. Why does it annoy you? Is it because you think it shows he has an ego or something? I don't read it that way, and he's also come across as being humble and generally a good bloke to me.
