It puts that option and rumour to bed, at least for two years. I'm not sure how old Osian Roberts is but I can see why helping Como build helps his longer term career choices. Wiggy never wanted him and Osh has obviously been told he wouldn’t get the job if interviewed (or worse not even shortlisted) … Osh would have taken that job no matter what club he was working at.

If you read Osian’s statement he says the FAW approached him

One of the most self-serving tweets you'll read this year. FAW dodged a bullet there.

If you read Osian’s statement he says the FAW approached him Pride… he didn’t publicly come out and say he was going for it, so why publicly come and say your not… He’s just looking after himself and I don’t blame him.

So you’re saying he lied about the FAW approaching him? That’s how it reads… it’s just a shame as I think Osh is what we need now.

It reads like the FAW approached him but he didn’t want the job now due to his commitment to the Como job. You’ve interpreted that as the FAW didn’t approach him so he made up a statement out of wounded pride

Lets not forget the tweet suits the FAW as much as it does Osian. Surely he was the fans popular choice and now the FAW has the message out there they tried. I wouldn’t be surprised if the FAW were aware of the tweet.
Disappointed but not surprised. Having recently signed a new contract and in reality he has just been too successful.

I think he's been told that he's in the mix but not the stand out candidate, so he's come out and said that now's not the right time for him - suits all parties in terms of saving face. FAW can say to fans that they tried, but suspect he's not the "profile" the FAW want

What’s up with all of these outlandish claims ha! Not everything’s a conspiracy. He’s a year into his time at Como and probably loving life out there. It’s hardly surprising if he’s decided to honour his contract and see it through for another couple of years

Surely anyone would pick living in como over Cardiff every day if the week unless your insane, and he's got time for international management later on if he is still doing well

Loyalty and stupidity aren't mutually exclusive. Roberts' statement today was unnecessary and egocentric. There's an unfathomable myth around his abilities but today showed his true character. I hope this is the last time he's ever mentioned in the managerial conversation.

I mean fair enough, can't fault someone for showing a bit of loyalty when there is very little of that in football these days. Thought he would have been well up for at least discussing it with the FAW but if he's happy out there then you can't begrudge him wanting to stay. Says he'd like to do it one day but I fear the ship may have sailed for him now though.

Don't blame him at all.
The FAW snubbed him twice. Can't be expected to drop everything and come running now.

By not employing him on two occasions when he was ready and available.

If I recall correctly, and I am not sure I do, was the first chance to hire him after Speed's passing when it could have been him and Dutch Ray taking things on?
Hiring managers must be so much about timing. Think it's clear he wasn't the right candidate for us before and we're not the right job for him now.
Let's wish him well, work to make sure next 2 years are a success and there may be need to review the situation at that point.

By not employing him on two occasions when he was ready and available. Or...by employing someone more suitable each time. It's not a snub if you interview but don't make the grade.

Don't blame him at all. The FAW snubbed him twice. Can't be expected to drop everything and come running now. Seems a slightly unnecessary dig this. On the first occasion it seemed to be Dutch Ray that was really pushing for it, and I think we can all agree that with hindsight Cookie proved to be a good appointment (you know, leading us to the best footballing / sporting moment in Welsh history and all that). Don't like to admit it, but Giggs did what he was appointed to do too, so that proved to be a good appointment. I personally think if Osian turned this down due to his bruised ego after not beating Coleman and Giggs to the post on the previous occasions, then it would reflect very poorly on his character. As it is, there's absolutely no indication of that being the case and I see no reason to doubt his statement, which essentially said he's really enjoying his time with Como and has made a commitment there which he wants to honour.
