Yes - such a shame King wasn't playing ahead of the Euros He is not top notch but would have given a much more solid presence than Morrell, as would Vaulks. Hopefully people will realise that when players like Morrell and Williams drop down to the third and fourth divisions in England there is a reason for it. That is not to underestimate how amazingly they have done for Wales when called upon, especially Williams. However, it reflects the fact that with Williams there was an obvious lack of end product, as one can see for his goal and assist return, and Morrell was an obvious weak link in our team up against the top nations such as Denmark and Italy. If WIlliams had stayed in the Championship somehow, then he could have remained a squad option. We have to be ruthless, if you play at that level your games will deteriorate - time to move on. Weirdly enough he was very productive in our double header vs Bulgaria! What we've seen with both Morrell and Smith is that they both have played their best football with us whilst being in the 3rd tier. That's because they have been getting regular minutes at that level. When both moved to the Championship and had less minutes their performances for us have suffered. With that, it's a good thing Morrell has dropped down a level to be regular, as he will play better for us now with match sharpness If Smith can nail down a place in the Championship with Hull he will leapfrog Morrell in the pecking order, so here's hoping that happens this season. If not, Morrell is more than good enough to be effective against all teams in our groups aside from Belgium

Weirdly enough he was very productive in our double header vs Bulgaria! Sorry, but you're all over the place with your comments. First, on multiple threads you've gone on about how Morrell isn't good enough because the level he plays at whilst simultaneously praising Smith for what he's done on loan. Let's look at their respective records. Smith had a good season on loan with Twente in the second tier of Dutch football. He then had two failed loan spells in the championship the following season with QPR and Charlton where he only played 10 games combined (mostly sub appearances I think). He then had a decent loan spell in League 1 last season and is now back in the championship - on the bench the for the first couple of games (too early to say whether he'll eventually move into the first team). So he's proven himself at league 1 level, but not in the championship. Morrell had an excellent season in league 1 before joining luton where he won their player of the season. There's been no other failed loan spells - he just wasn't selected by bristol and luton in the championship - so he's in the exact same position where he's proven himself more than good enough for league 1, but hasn't yet proven himself at championship level. Second, let's not forget Morrell's performances for us when we qualified - our upturn in form coincided with him and Moore coming in fir our last 4 games that got us through the group. Morrell did very well in those games. We know Morrell's role in the team - he's there to provide protection by sitting in front of the defence, blocking passing lanes, making interceptions/tackle, and then simple distribution when we're on the ball. What does King offer? The fact that I'm asking that question after he has 50 caps for us says a lot. Games pass him by. With some players, that's often because they do a lot of the unseen work, but that's not the case with King when I've made the effort to watch him closely. He's not a holding midfield that does the basics well. As far as I can see, he's more of a lampard type where he makes late runs into the box and grabs a few goals. That's how he made his name with Leicester in League 1, but he only has 2 goals for us in 50 games. So for me, he offers next to nothing. Players' role in the team is as important, if not more, than their quality and the level they're playing at, so we should absolutely select Morrell, Smith and Levitt over King going forward

Mulled over the squad a lot, here's my current thoughts 3 weeks out from the games. I think there are 20 guaranteed squad members;
Ward, Hennessey, A.Davies
Gunter, Neco, B.Davies, Mepham, Rodon, Cabango
Allen, Smith, Ampadu, Morrell
Wilson, Ramsey, Brooks, James, Tyler
Bale, Moore
Beyond that I'll assume there is space for 8 more in a squad of 28. I think 5 are pretty certain;
Brennan, J.Lawrence, RND, Colwill, B.Cooper
With Lockyer out injured I think Cooper is the one to come in. Colwill has effectively replaced Matondo in the squad. And I think Brennan will be replacing Joniesta following his drop down the leagues & Brennan now being 1st choice for Forest. Beyond this group there are several options;
Ben Williams - back in the Barnsley starting XI. I think he'd make a great LCB & can play LB/LWB too. Versatility means I think he'll be included
Levitt - no game time of note, otherwise he'd probably be a cert
Andy King - back in the Championship. A solid experienced defensive midfielder who I think could give us steel in a weak area of the pitch for us. Perhaps unlikely due to selection policy but I would include him personally
Sheehan - good start to life at a higher level. Don't think he's far off the level of Morrell/Smith personally
Woodburn - lots of pre-season minutes, a new lease of life playing as a number 8, high praise from Klopp, and is back in the Liverpool match day squad. Something tells me things may finally click for him this year, and it would be great for his confidence to be selected again. I want to see us play 4-3-3 with two 8's, so I would include him
In summary I'd pick; Ward, Hennessey, A.Davies
Rodon, Mepham, Cabango, Cooper, J.Lawrence
B. Davies, Neco, Gunter, RND, B. Williams
Allen, Ampadu, Smith, Morrell, King, Woodburn
Ramsey, James, Tyler, Brooks, Wilson, Brennan, Colwill
Bale, Moore

King isn't traditional a defensive midfielder... more of a box to box and chipped in with a few goals. His age/experience would have seen him drop deeper midfield position. personally, i cant see him getting back into the squad, but if the other options are not getting any minutes you never know. I'm going to watch Bristol city vs the swans on Friday, so will keep a close eye on him.

Doesn't look like they're doing a campaign ticket this time around. Understandable given one home game has already been played and there's only 3 left.

Just got our tickets for the Estonia game. Fair play to the FAW, ticket prices are increasing rapidly. Our usual seats have doubled in price over the last 5-10 years

Just bought mine. Couldnt book in our usual seats as they were greyed out. looked like they had reserved the whole block so maybe there is a way to book there but i couldnt see it. You can allocate tickets to membership IDs in the usual way.
The delivery charge of £12 for 4 tickets is a bit exessive when you add on the £4 booking fee and £1 service charge. £17 extra just for using the website?

Ridiculous prices for a game against Estonia. The £3 for a paper ticket is nuts too which is why we went digital (which is what they want I suppose)

The £3 for a paper ticket is a bit naff but £25 to see Wales is an absolute steal when compared to watching Wrexham over the past few years would normally set you back £18 a game if you didn't have a season ticket.
Genuinely think Wales ticket prices have been more than fair over the past few years. Averages out when you pay £5 a ticket in Moldova and Slovakia.

Bought a paper ticket this time, though did consider getting a digital one. So I assume it works the same as in the Euros (though I didn't go), by using bluetooth etc.? It does seem the way things are going. Just less hassle for clubs and associations, I suppose.

However, our usual tickets were down as £35 before all the 'extras'. We were paying £80 for a season ticket not so long ago for the exact same seats. The FAW needs to be really careful here and not take our loyalty for granted. It wasn't so long ago that we were struggling to get 10000 in to games

I agree though, when you're starting to get into the realms of £40-£50 then it's becoming an issue. Hopefully when the next campaign comes around the tournament tickets will be back which have always been excellent value to watch Wales.

It was a super bargain seeing Wales for the last ten years for £21 including all fees delivered to the door. I imagine many of the add-ons now go to the CCFC ticket office for using their system?

Just had to buy membership, thought I did it last year, but guess I forgot due to lockdown.
Just tried to buy the tickets, but it says the event is not available to me? I've held a membership for over 10 years now. Any ideas?

That Google Pay lark was a right pain at the Albania game. Took two stewards a good ten minutes to help me download it. Hope its on my phone still ... and that my clever fone now knows that FAW want it to bleep again ...
