If you can accept English people supporting Wales when they aren't playing or as a British team, accept Welsh people by the same token supporting/wanting England to win as a second team. Some people are half and half too. Some of my family and friends support England for a bit of interest if we aren't playing or didn't qualify. Not for me BUT also not my place to tell them otherwise, seeing as we live in a country where free speech is still in operation.
We look so ridiculous with a massive chip on our shoulder all the time. It's actually embarrassing.

I'm more concerned about people on here who wanted Wales to lose in rugby. I don't like people who support England and not Wales in football if they're Welsh but this is surely a dying breed and a hark back to the dark ages when we were terrible. I do remember England tops on a lot of my school friends. That said it's not my place to force them either way.

It's just quite grating to watch certain people support Wales' biggest football rivals during one summer and then see them have a Damascus conversion to the Welsh team less than 18 months later.

The issue I have is some English choose to support Wales as a second team and that’s fine if they do, fine if they don’t. Welsh people don’t have a choice, if you don’t support England you’re wrong, petty, an idiot. I’ve rebelled against it being forced on me and don’t support England in anything, I see the ones who do as Welsh people who’ve rolled over and accepted English dominance over the Welsh.

I don't think this thread is that serious, its just a bit of fun Looking back on the earlier posts it’s interesting as it’s more a bit of fun now whereas I took it quite seriously back then. I’m still not sure I agree with it making people look ridiculous though. In many ways it’s a zero sum game, what’s good for England is bad for Wales and vice versa. But the real issue is people who pick and choose their nationality when it suits and not only that denigrate the nationality that they are choosing not be at that time because they never qualified. It’s not something that should be ignored and mockery is deserved imo.

I have read our history, I am up to date with how unionist politicians treat Wales, I see how we have our resources stolen from us for nothing in return and I see how we are completely ignored in the "British" media and treated as an irrelevance. Fuck England, I will never support them or Britain in anything. They don't and never will represent me.

Speaking of twitter watch, keep an eye on Stan Collymore exposing the xenophobia and jingoism amongst England fans. Interesting stuff.

Shame Fishlock and Coleman have accepted awards from them lot too. Each to their own I guess. Support who you want- but supporting England as soon as we’re out just smacks of glory hunting. on another note, Jonathan Davies is at it again. Swear the rugby just feel entitled to success and therefore support England at every opportunity. Massive Dic Siôn Dafydd culture throughout Welsh rugby and their fans. Really dislike the ‘I support England in the football, but I’d never do in the rugby’- essentially sums their glory seeking mentality up.

Up to you who you'd like to win the tournament (though "supporting" a country other than your's though I find weird).
But that goes both ways and if I want a team, other than England, to now win Euro 2020 that is my right without being called small-minded, anti-English, bigoted, racist or whatever other trope is generally thrown around during these occasions.
And for those who say we should support England because they are British. Well I'd like Belgium to win, as their team now and over the past 10 yrs deserve it, play great football and are from the multi-national and multi-language EU (a citizen of which I was proud to be part of). How is that small-minded or anti-English?

Or Switzerland.. Or Czechia.. Or Spain)

Seem to remember him in an exchange on Twitter a few years ago with a Wales fan who was asking him why he wasn't watching a Wales friendly (might it have been the Netherlands just before the 2014 WC?) instead of an England match.

Actually Jonathan Davies was supporting England in the Rugby World Cup final under the claim that they are from the Northern Hemisphere! So there's no point in making it into a rugby v football thing especially when James Collins said he was now supporting England! I've not part of him being a bootlicker is because he wants another BBC contract, which someone even called him out over on twitter. How anyone can support the England team after the vile abuse the little German girl got from the England supporters is beyond me - it's not about Rugby or Football, is it's about being weird or having good taste!

I can sort of understand the northern hemisphere reasoning, because most of the World Cups have been won by the big three. Never mind the story about the girl, which is bad enough. The booing of the German anthem was just despicable.

As for New Zealand, South Africa and Australia being the 'Big 3' England have got more money and more players than the rest of them put together! Plus England take lots of Kiwi and South African players because of their money, it doesn't happen the other way around. NZ, South Africa and Australia win it because they have more talent. No reason to support our biggest rivals. Yes the booing of the German anthem was despicable and they do it to most countries anthems.
