Poole popping up with precious goals for Pompey!
Ahead of our camp, he could be on the goal trail again in club games against Wycombe and Port Vale.
Lockyer has also found the net recently - and of course he too is a threat to the opposition from corner kicks.

But did help his team in getting a 2-1 victory. Now top of League 1.

why is everyone raving about a centre back from league 1 when we have championship and premiership centre backs in rodon, cabango, lockyer, meps and even davies? i dont get it. Seems a waste taking an extra centre back.
I dont know much about him tbf

Seems a waste taking any extra centre back. I dont know much about him tbf Regan was being touted to step up to the Championship but chose to join a top team in League One and fight for promotion instead. I think he'll definitely be a Championship player this time next season for that reason. At 26 coming into his prime as a defender in the Championship will be good for him and us He's a player who came up at a top academy, didn't quite make the cut, and went down into the lower leagues to get himself game time. He's now 25 years old with 261 senior appearances under his belt (that's about the same amount as Rodon & Mepham combined at club level). He's considered to be very good on the ball for the current level he's at due to being in the United academy, and so it's considered that he will likely do well moving up a level During this time he's played a variety of positions including RWB, RB, CB in a back 3 and CB in a back 4. So he's very versatile. That makes him a very handy squad member as he covers several positions. I think he'd be best as a wide CB in a back 3 but would be confident of seeing him play as a defensive RB too or a CB in a back 4. Imo he's the player we haven't had since Gunter's retirement

He joined them when he was 17 after already playing for Newport County in the league quite a few times. He was at Cardiff Academy then the Newport Academy and getting minutes in their first team before united paid a few hundred grand for him.

Torn his ACL and out for the rest of the season. Gutted for him Absolutely. One of the worst injuries for a Pro. Even a break is 'only' 6 weeks.

Great to see Poole finally begin his comeback on the weekend after 10 months out injured. Came on for 15 mins at the end of the game. Let's hope he can get back to his best.

Captain of Portsmouth tonight. Is he the usual captain?? I don't think so, but he's only just come back into regular football after injury. He might have been captain before the injury. He was certainly one of their best performers before the injury.

Turned out to be average at best. No surprise, I posted earlier in the thread about going to watch him and Ash Taylor be part of a defence that conceded 6 goals for Northampton at home. I think he’s made the most of it to get as far as he has to be honest. Don’t think he’ll be in any danger of a call up any time soon.

I wouldn’t necessarily discount him yet. He was one of the best in his position in League 1 last year before his injury, and now he’s just getting back into things following that long layoff and needing to acclimatise to Championship football at the same time. I think there’s a lot to like about his ‘profile’ (Bellamy’s favourite word), but yeah he’s nowhere near the squad currently. It would only take 2-3 months of good performances in the Championship for that to change though!
