Does anyone in here think that Mark Harris, and I have to use him because he's repeatedly called up, would be doing what Aaron Collins, double figures for goals and double figures for assists, in League One right now if he was playing in it? We can find out next season Touché 😂

A poster on the Rovers forum who has previously been ITK is saying Collins to Middlesborough If that move happened he'd be a promotion away from going from being on the bench to being loaned to Hull City, which is still a step up I suppose, he won't play at Boro though and I want him to keep playing as much as he can and if he moves up it to be somewhere where he's given a chance to be the main striker.

Seems like a throwaway rumour with no corroboration

The big chances created metric is the interesting one- third in the pro leagues.
Apparently he can play all along the front three and as a number 10 (and the stats seem to suggest that he produces in all those positions) although he’s best as a striker

Kieffer Brennan Collins Mullin
That would be a very decent four to choose from, they all bring different qualities.

This boy looks like he could step up a division , has something about him, not lacking confidence and a call up looks on the cards, maybe the type that can improve with better players around him I'd say.

Hint hint. We had an article like this before Sorba was called up. DS has posted this article by quote tweeting a previous message saying that players will be informed of a call up this week Reading between the lines he's in! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64805623

Sounds like getting a call up would mean more to him than most so good luck to him. Hope he gets a chance

He doesn't get this level of attention from our media if he's not getting called up. He's in the squad for sure

A lot of the highlights shown there he looks like he's cutting in from the left a lot, and I wonder if he may get a run out in that position, given DJ's lack of form

What a misinformed prick Joey Barton is. From 0.55 onwards. Shitting on his own player in public. Says Aaron needs to set League 1 alight to get a Welsh cap - despite Morrell, Burns, Broadhead etc being in the squad. Doesn't do enough off the ball to be an international footballer. Maybe fair points, but to say this in public? Shocking management.

I know why he's doing it, he thinks it's going to get a reaction and for some players this kind of thing might work but you've far more chance of getting a positive reaction from someone if you talk to them one to one, privately, and give them constructive criticism with advice on how to improve. That's a bit above Barton though, I don't think he'll ever have that in him.

I didn’t read what you said and I thought he’d go on a tirade about page. If Joey is unhappy at Aaron’s performances maybe he should beat him up in the shower or put a cigar out in his face

What's especially poor from Barton here is that Collins could have been a quite upset by the squad announcement yesterday, but proceeds to complete shit on him publicly. Unbelievable really.
However, we don't really know what sort of relationship Barton has with Collins or other players behind closed doors.

You really shouldn't be remotely surprised by Barton's comments, he's always had a lot to say on a variety of subjects, almost all controversial or downright idiotic. You can guess what kind of attitude and relationship he has with players, where that disrespect has got him in his career shows he's not an option for clubs with good character and ambition, it doesn't work these days. By coincidence I caught five minutes of last nights match, and even in that brief glimpse Collins looked decent when he played a great ball to put his striker colleague through on goal where he should have scored.

That's as bad an example of man-management as you can get. But I also think it's a revealing set of comments. Barton clearly doesn't think Collins is currently good enough to play international football and explains why (essentially, he doesn't work hard enough when the opposition are in possession). He may be wrong to air that view in public but he's in a pretty good place to make that judgement. I suspect Page may have reached a similar conclusion.

I don't think publicly slagging off a player has ever worked, he really is a prick In the end Luke Shaw proved Jose Mourinho wrong, as did Marcus Rashford although yeah, I'm not sure of anything Mourinho did or said actually worked. During his first spell in charge at West Ham, David Moyes publicly criticised Declan Rice and he bounced back strongly. It doesn't happen at all often though, it's very rare and there's pretty much zero chance of it working for someone like Barton.
