I'm glad Coleman has applied. Up until now, we had Hartson and Flynn. Coleman is the only one of the three applicants with managerial experience in the Premiership. He's the frontrunner at present imo, and also adds a bit more credibility to the list of applicants. It looks like a serious contest now, whereas before Flynn and Hartson wasn't really a competition.

Thought he did very well at Fulham, gone downhill since but probably not too far. Wouldn't be a bad option. I thought he was an awful pundit during the world cup, but shouldn't rule him out on those grounds. Still prefer Flynn (assuming we can't get O'Neill), but just watching some Championship football now and thinking how about Sean O'Driscoll of Doncaster? Seems to be a very good manager, Donnie play good football, and maybe we could get him, wouldn't have thought he could take Doncaster much further, simply because of the limitations of his club rather than his own ability

Funnily enough I thought about O'Driscoll the other day, but concluded that his ambitions would probably be set on finding an opportunity at a Premiership team or staying put at Doncaster, after all his success there is establishing his reputation nicely.
Another stumbling block would be the need to pay compensation for his contract with Donny Rovers - and as he is one of the club's biggest assets, they will likely squeeze anyone looking to appropriate him for all they're worth. With someone like Kerr, although the Faroese FA might not allow us to approach him, can't see them asking huge sums if the are willing to do a deal.
Still, though, got to be worth investigating. I'd like to see us be ambitious and approach as many candidates as possible for the job, really trying to market our talented youngsters to them. We should be willing to go foreign - in my view there are much better managers out there if we're willing to go down that route.

Doncaster are playing lovely football, Stock included.
With Kerr, is there a danger of over-rating him on the basis of one or more unlikely results. Never struck me as the greatest (or worse, in fairness) manager when he was in charge of the Irish. Agree that the strength of the youth should be our selling point and I have no problems with getting a foreign manager in. The FAW's record in this isn't good tho.

Maybe the FAW should just hand over the whole process to Huw Jenkins, the Swansea chairman? He seems to get it right every time. Jackett, Martinez, Sousa, Rodgers- they've all been great appointments. 3rd in the championship now- wouldn't surprise me if they went up.

he just seems a boring choice to me,i dont think he would be an appointment that would inspire the players to be any better than they are now

Yeah, great shout. Hugh Edwards to head up ad-hoc national team managerial appointment panel to make sure the right man gets the job. That is so sensible that it good as automatically rules itself out of the FAW's cretinous collective brain.

Much as I love Huw Edwards as a newsreader, I would rather someone with a decent track record of appointing football managers was involved in the process to find a new Wales manager. Someone like Huw Jenkins say...

I would agree that possibly Kerr might just be lucky. However, I think it's more difficult to luck into several good results/performances. Remember that they were very close to winning away in Estonia too - they led into stoppage time, but then conceded twice. When I watched that game I was immediately impressed by how Kerr had got the Faroes working together as a team. There's no cast-iron candidate who will definitely be a success for us. However, in terms of transferable experience, Sanchez and Kerr have the necessary CV requirements, and more.

Yeah we had a reason to be annoyed at OT when we got the usual slagging prior to the game. At the moment we have to suck up all the fighting talk as its the same as us expecting to beat San Marino. We do need a miracle, but occasionally they happen.
Coleman is practically English these days so file him under Darren Gough.

Coleman makes my skin crawl. Every time I hear him interviewed I'm thankful the FAW didn't give him the job. And realise why they didn't.

According to the BBC website, CC has been appointed manager of Greek club Larissa that was relegated from the top division. The contract is for one year that can be extended to three.
