So if we lose/draw tonight, this will presumably be Cookie's last game, given what he's said?
Hope those at the ground remember that at the end and give him a good send off if the result doesn't go our way.

Heβs up there with jimmy Murphy as the greatest ever welsh manager for me.

Hope he'll change his mind if we don't make it. This squad has at least one, possibly two more campaigns in it, and I'm not sure there is anyone else immediately springing to mind if he does leave.
Wonder if Lagerback would go for it again? I think we missed a trick not getting him, although obviously Coleman has done more than adequately. After a poor campaign Norway are getting their shit together now and look a decent team.

I didn't even notice / think of that. Which is kind of proof of what he's achieved. That's not the biggest story for once for a possible departing manager

He failed this time. He has to go.
Edit: not my current opinion, feel free to debate Coleman here however.

Great manager for us but football is ruthless. He had the greatest ever Wales squad and failed to get us to a world cup. We need to move on, as awful as it is.

Big mistake starting HRK IMO. Should've gone with Vokes and introduced Hal around the hour mark.

Anyway - its all over. We weren't good enough. Goodness it does not matter if the teams are fantastic or mediocre - why do we always bottle the big all or nothing qualification games?

He's already said he's leaving after this campaign you prat. Good. I wasn't aware of this beforehand so I do apologise if I've offended. Coleman is the greatest manager we've had (on paper, but in my opinion he is anyway) but he's got so much wrong this campaign. Bringing Jonny on for Allen instead of Edwards today being one of them. I do regret the thread title.

I would not blame Coleman. We have always said it. Take 2 of Bale, Allen and Ramsey out of the team and we look ordinary. That's exactly what happened tonight. The players have to take responsibility.
Going forward we need someone more dynamic than Ledley and more forward thinking than Gunter. I also think Williams is on the decline. He just looks much slower this year - bit like what happened to Des Walker for England in the 80s/90s.
I am just so fed up with football at the moment. It felt like a car crash in slow motion as soon as Allen went off. Unbelievable that of all the players for us to lose he gets knocked out! How many times were the Welsh players hit in the face again? 3 times? They must be deliberately doing it as it is so unusual to have 6 of those incidents in just two games.

You'll never see another Welsh team in a tournament semi final. Coleman did that. Several managers with Giggs/Hughes/Saunders/Rush/Southall did not.

And those several managers never had the quality of this squad to choose from and get the best out of them either!!
Thank goodness he has gone!! Yippee!!!
Coleman while manager of Coventry "I don't care about Wales" - that stuck and always has!!!

We started with four championship players tonight, and ended with five. You call yourself Rushlegend - did you ever see him play? Are you 12?

He is leaving most likely.
I think it's probably about time, to be honest. We need refreshing and the way to do that is probably with a new manager and a new philosophy. The memories of the euros will be with me forever - thanks a billion for the memories, Chris, and I hope you have a very successful future no matter where you go.

I guess the question is who would replace him assuming he does move back into club management? My 1st choice would be to try to poach Lars Lagerback or failing that Michael O'Neill. I hope we go for someone with international experience, not a club manager.

I'd like him to stay, even after tonights dissappointment. If he wants to stay I wouldn't sack him - but I do think the team needs a change. We need to find a way of playing that can enable us to get results without key players and make us less easy to defend against. Given our attacking talents we perhaps don't score as many as we should. Now's probably the best time for FAW to start planning for change. I think Coleman will leave voluntarily anyway.

I don't think it was a case of bottling it. If it was we'd have bottled Austria or Georgia. We just came up against a very poor ref, an injury to 2 of our 3 most influential players, and a goal arguably against the run of play. The performance wasn't terrible.

Welsh manager for the Welsh team.
Even if that means Giggs.
Don't you see that a massive part of our unprecedented success in the last 2 years has been down to spirit and togetherness born out of a manager the players could believe in and relate to after Speed's suicide? A manager who could engender a spirit of what it means to be Welsh?

Push the boat out and get Sparky. I'm not sure he'd be the answer - go for someone with international experience, successful qualifying experience I mean.

You call yourself Rushlegend - did you ever see him play? Are you 12? There were more Championship players playing for Ireland tonight so that doesn't cut the mustard!!! Wish i was 12 again
