Worst case scenario, Welsh football goes into the doldrums after losing such a massive character with squad morale destroyed - the likes of Williams (who always speaks so highly of Coleman) decides he's had his time too, ampadu gets an invite to join ghana's squad and Brooks decides to fuck off to England. I really can't see any decent options so can't see any good coming from this

I spoke to Chris after the Panama game at the Vale at about 23:30-00:00, I had the impression that he wanted to stay and build but was in the dark with the whole situation.
No one will ever have to take on the Wales National Team Mangers job in such circumstances as Chris did, I genuinely think he wanted to stay and build, there has been no leaving do, good byes or anything, everyone was of the impression Chris was still going to be our manager post Christmas.
I think he has taken a job whilst it is vacant as opposed to continue to negotiate and have no work, what I find amazing is the speed in which John Toshack was given contracts in comparison to Chris considering the different heights they took Wales to, Chris is better than Sunderland, £110 million in debt, up for sale and with no feel good factor to build from, how far can he take them, Advocaat, Allardyce, Bruce, Keane, Moyes, O'Neil, Wilkinson, McCarthy all ex International Managers, Champions League players or Champions League managers yet none of them did nothing with a club that very few foreign players want to join, I would look at the list of managers listed above and think why did they all fail reach the heights that Peter Reid did around 1999-2000, I think Chris could have picked a better club if he had waited, I think this could have been handled better by FAW, if he was going he desereved the Panama match to be his last game and an opportunity for fans to thank him.

I was wrong, thought he'd definitely stay for another campaign. I'm absolutely gutted. It's important we keep Osian and get the right man in. Lars Lagerback? Lagerback's been pretty dire at Norway so far. I'd say Pulis would do well, otherwise Hughes or Thierry Henry... Pulis is 5/2 favourite with one bookie as he is under threat of losing his job and has always wanted to do the Wales job. PLEASE NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not great - to pass us up for that shit!
He will be gone in less than a year. He shone at Wales because of the players he had at his disposal
Coleman is a decent man and has delivered for us but lets be honest - he had the benefit of Gareth Bale - who carried us through to the Euros and a decent squad. Then at the euros everyone performed close to their full potential. Now I know the players loved him but he was no tactical genius, as we saw in the World Cup qualifiers.
My biggest concerns are 1. that he takes Roberts 2. that the disruption gives England an opening to persuade Ampadu and Brooks to leave us.
My biggest concern is we appoint either another Welsh novice or a foreign coach who does not have a connection with the players, especially the younger members.
The only positive is that a new coach with not be blindly loyal to average players like Gunter.

I'm surprisngly gutted right now. Can't believe this has happened after his words following the Panama. Hope this wasnt because of a breakdown in relationship with the FAW. This sucks a bit. They are a piss take at FAW they always put all we have worked to build up at risk at worst time, the worst part would be losing Os in my opinion though from his role, but whilst we could still lose key players over this, I can't stop thinking about what going on.

So my hunch was right, he's been pushed out by the FAW? What a bloody joke. If this turns out to be true I wont attend another Welsh game for a good few years.

It has to have been a late conclusion. Otherwise I think the announcement would have been made before the Panama game to get a full house for his send off. All the best Cookie.

Sunderland? That’s a poisoned chalice if ever there was one. Daft move. £800k isn't it? Money talks. They will have a massive promotion bonus in place as well. Promotion bonus in which year, or should I say century?

All the best to Chris he has done well coming in at a very difficult time. We were fortunate that Chris kept the coaching set up in place in the main. I can't see any obvious stand out managers for the role. When Chris was appointed the FAW seemed to be desperate for Giggs and I think they will be again. I hope not.

The other bookies are just using the last list before Speed’s appointment I think-Philip Troussier is down there with most bookies!!

One good thing is that, the Nations league means we can have a terrible qualifying campaign, but still have a good shot at qualifying, i.e. whoever the FAW go for next can be low risk.
e.g. we get drawn against Sweden and Denmark in the Nations league, and they both qualify directly for the Euros (quite possible). We could then lose our next 14 competitive games and still go into the playoffs for the finals of the Euros.

At least there's plenty of time to get the right man
But I find it a bit weird when it was known that he as happy with signing another contract
I bet the tightwad FAW offered him less money that he was on before
Anyway the king is dead, long live the king (whoever that mat well be)
Cheers Chris, you are a legend and will be forever etched in Welsh football folklore

Still can’t get my head around it...Sunderland? Bottom of the championship Sunderland?
Surely the Wales job with our main players peaking and talented youngsters coming through is a more attractive prospect, big pay deal or not. Sunderland ffs.

Surprised and gutted that he's gone there. With him every success. What an adventure we've had with him over the last few years.
As to who takes over, no idea. Os? Would he be any more of a risk than any of the others mentioned? Please not Pulis or Saunders.

Cookie, thank you for the memories of EURO 2016.
Good luck in your new role, as you are going to need it big time.
Be interesting to see what tactics he employs! Take the lead and settle back for the draw?

What's the odds of Andy King and Simon Church joining Sunderland in January?
Being serious though I hope Chris Coleman does well, what he did in the Euros was incredible. A lot of people put in hard work and it was him in charge when the puzzle was put together and almost completed.

What about Northern Ireland's O'Neil? He has outperformed everyone in Europe arguably with his limited resources. Is he flexible in terms of tactics so he can make the most of talented players or is it just defend and be hard to beat?

FAW statement: www.faw.cymru/en/news/faw-statement-chris-coleman/?back=%2Fen%2Fnews%2F&pos=1 Regretfully, Chris Coleman has resigned from his position as Wales National Team Manager with immediate effect. Chris was appointed manager in January 2012 in very difficult circumstances and has guided Wales to the semi-finals of EURO 2016, an incredible achievement that inspired a nation. Jonathan Ford, Chief Executive of the Football Association of Wales, said: “We are extremely disappointed to see Chris’ tenure as Wales manager come to an end. “The FAW and Wales as a nation will be eternally grateful for the job he has done over the last six years as National Team Manager, from travelling the length and breadth of Wales outside of the media spotlight to talk to players and supporters, to guiding us to the semi-finals of the European Championships. “We wish Chris the very best of luck for the future as he returns to club management, a desire for which he has always been honest and open about.” Kit Symons has also resigned from his position as National Team Coach and the FAW would like to put on record its gratitude for his commitment to the Wales National Team.

Look at Iceland and Northern Ireland? They achieved the same or more without a Gareth Bale in terms of qualifying for tournaments
